“People falling for gimmicks” -Nope, jokes on them… We knew it was a gimmick, we knew it was a cash grab, but we still loved them. We knew what we were doing. Lolol
Gimmicks can be fun. I was a kid in the '90's and I bought them for entertainment. I never wanted my money back and they STILL make me smile!!! Thanks for the comment!!!
Yes! There's nothing like seeing some really cool comics that you weren't aware of. Most of these are pretty cheap and good reads too! Thanks for the comment!!!
Man!!!! Super jealous you have the blue Vengence of Vampi 1!!!😮😮😮😮 It took me forever just to find the normal red one! I mean, honestly, you have a lot I am envious of. That is a big one, though.
Yes, it's one of my favorites! Those two really display well together. They compliment one another. It's funny you mention those two in particular. My wife had a friend who was throwing out a bunch of stuff and she mentioned there were some comics in there. She said I could have them if I wanted and most of my Vampirella and Dracula comics came from that collection. My Lady Death #1 was in there too! Thanks for the great comment!!!
@thecomicsamurai Awesome story! That is the collector's dream come true 1000% percent! Congrats. I think that is the only way I'll find the rest of my vampi's and lady death's too. So rare to find them out and about. Just finished the video. Great set of books. Some I thought I was the only one to enjoy and collect them. Great to find someone else who isn't ashamed to admit they loved 90s books. Thanks again for bringing out more than the same "big" books everyone else does.
You really went beyond the call of duty in this series, taking them all out of their bags, so we can see them properly. That Vampirella cover is stunning. The Gangland #1 is also very cool. It's certainly an impressive gaggle of comics. I tried to look up the one with the hidden 3d cover that you called Ms Mystic #1. No one on ebay agrees on what the actual title is but it appears to me to be Prelude #1. Who knows, but I will own it soon. I have a poster from when this gimmick became a fad about the same time this comic came out. Not everyone can see it easily but it is unique.
You ain't seen nothing yet! I got special lighting for the foil embossed ones, extra special lighting for the chromium ones, and ultra double probation lighting for the hologram ones!!! I really am so excited for those videos to post! Hmm... The indicia on my book says, "Ms. Mystic Deathwatch 2000 TM No. 1 May 1993." I didn't realize the cover art was done by Neal Adams! The inside cover also has a magic eye that's text. I like those things. It came bagged with two cards. One is a pretty cool holofoil! Thanks as ALWAYS!!! PS I did black light for the glow in the dark ones so you can see the cover and the glow ink AND I got good stills of just the glow part. I hope a lot of collectors get to see some great gimmicks they might have missed. Thanks again!
@@thecomicsamurai I never got a good look at many of these because at one point I became so tired of gimmicks that it wasn't a selling point for me anymore and I mostly switched to (very) independents and undergrounds unless it was something spectacular like Ghost Rider 15 or FF #358. The ones you chose hold up very well. I love them Ms Mystic was Neal Adams' creation and his first big payday. His work is like a beautiful model that can't hold a conversation but I never got tired of it.
@@holyharlot5222 I did get tired of gimmicks. I don't like it when a gimmick is done and doesn't add anything to the comic. A gimmick for a gimmick's sake. But when they were done right... That is a PERFECT analogy for Neal Adams' work. However, SOMEtimes that beautiful model can recite poetry. And when she does... it's magic.
I'm not really into comics and I heard the American comic industry is in trouble but I like your attitude and I liked the cover art as well, good video man
It's was a shame you didn't refer to the various chromium covers like Generation X #1, glow in the dark covers like Spectre #1 and holifoil covers like Silver Surfer #75.
I know! YES!!! I absolutely cannot wait to get to the chromium, glow in the dark, holofoil, hologram, lenticular and all the rest! I love gimmick covers!!! This was only part 2 of a 6-part (!) series. MANY more to come! Thanks for the great comment!!!
@thecomicsamurai That's fantastic. I look forward to all those cover gimmicks you mention in the other vids in this series. I buy a lot of Omnibuses these days, and, one thing that disappoints me is they fail to use the gimmicks on these covers. Amongst my omnibuses, only the DC Villains Omnibus had the gimmick lenticular cover like the issues. It's a shame that Spiderman 2099 Omnibus, didn't have a foil cover like #1.
Glad you enjoyed! I genuinely enjoy all of the comics that I show. I've read every one of them and even if it isn't appealing to my eye, there's a special place in my heart for every single one of them! Thanks for the comment!!!
2:22 Holy cake, Batman! That foil "blood does look awesome.
Yes!!! Quesada nailed it!!! Thanks again!!!

Man those foils are fantastic!! And the popups are by far the funnest gimmick!!
Who doesn't love a good gimmick cover when it's done right!
Excellent gimmick comic books part 2.😀👍
Thank you! There's still SO many more, I can't wait!!!
@@thecomicsamurai your welcome. 😀👍
Great part 2!! Keep them coming. 😎
Rock and roll.
I had that Forge works! I had totally forgot about that one.
I just got a second copy to see what it looked like before you opened it. Pretty cool!!!
I got the Darkhawk, Spiderman 2099, both Iron Man books and the Superman vs Lobo. Yeah I was a sucker for gimic covers when I was a teen.
Me too (obviously)! What a great time to be into comics!!! Thanks for the comment!!!
