EXACTLY!!! I couldn't agree more! I'm working on a video about my favorite covers from the seventies. They're so fun! I did make a video of my favorite Bronze Age Comics that I thought was fun, but it wasn't about JUST the covers. Thanks for the GREAT comment!
Glad you enjoyed! I have so many good ones coming up! It's a six-part (!) series with all my favorites. I'm excited for them! I love gimmick comics (FOIL!) and tried to show examples of all of them. Thanks for the GREAT comment!!!
Nice to see there are other fans of gimmick comics! They are some of my favorites, each one brings back a ton of memories. Thanks for the comment, hope you enjoy!!!
Looking forward to part two. I always liked the connected covers. Art Adams did a connected 5 or 6 issue variant cover arc for walking dead I thought was cool. The marvel anniversary run with all the character facial close-ups was great
Glad you enjoyed! I like connected covers also! Once I get the format figured out, I'll make a video of my favorites! I didn't know about Art Adams run on Walking Dead, I'll have to check them out!!! I made a short video of all my Marvel Anniversary covers. I'll do a full length video when I hunt down the few I'm missing. Thanks for the great comment!!!
That's a great collection of gimmick covers. Lots of them are new to me. Spider-Man #1 is so good. I think the multiple variants cause it not to get the accolades it deserves. My favorite photo covers are the 60's Star Trek comics. They seem more compelling than most. Lost in Space are pretty good too. I have Spider-Man and the Hulk 1980 which was distributed with the Chicago Tribune. It's not much but the cover is great.
I'm glad that lots were new to you! This is a six-part (!) series, so hopefully there are some other fun ones for you. I agree with you about Todd's Spider-Man #1. It's hard for collectors to see past the multiple versions and appreciate the actual comic sometimes. Jim Lee's X-Men #1 and Liefeld's X-Force #1 suffer from the same problem. No one acutally reads them. Or at least opens them to gawk at the beautiful interior art. I do remember a lot of those Star Trek photo covers. Nimoy had such a great look, the ones with him were my faves. Hard to find them in good shape. Mine are trashed! I almost featured that Chicago Tribune one. I really like it, but I'm saving it for a really special video. Thanks as always! You made my day!!!
That's very interesting! I love firsts and landmark issues. That's exciting if it's true. It IS a beautiful cover, regardless, and is now on my want list! Thanks for the comment!!!
EXCELLENT question! I like the look of not having the price printed on the cover, the added graphics of the bag (that's how I saw them on the shelves), but more than anything... UNPOPULAR OPINION WARNING! I do NOT like signed comics. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and on this topic, I just don't like signed comics. It's a cosmetic thing. I like seeing the cover. It's probably just me, but I prefer comics that are not signed. I respect everyone else's opinion and would never judge other collectors' preferences. Thanks for the comment, much appreciated!!!
@@thecomicsamurai To each their own. I've also heard of Funko collectors who don't like their boxes signed, so it's not just you. If you like comics without the price on the cover, maybe you should check out McFarlane's Page punchers action figures. They all come with a comic without any pricing and barcodess and such. I think the best ones he has done are Batman 608 and Spawn 1.
@@godofzombi Ha! Always nice to know I'm not the only one! I HAVE seen those McFarlane specials with no price. Thank you for the suggestions! And the comment, much appreciated!!!
@@thecomicsamurai Exciting, I'm originally from Butte. I don't remember a comic book store there in the 90's. I got all of my comics at the local Safeway.
@@kashthecollector The shop was in the mall. It sold a lot of other things besides comics and the guys that worked there were total salesman! They talked me into buying all the Spider-man #1 variants and I ate it up. I remember when Safeway (and Buttrey's and Albertson's) all had a comic book rack. Too fun, thanks again!!!
Great covers! I want the 70s covers back! To many covers just look like magazine covers instead of comic covers.

Part 1 was good…. But I cannot wait for part 2!!
Mock foil all you want but my six year old self is still excited

Gimmick comic books are cool 😎. 😀👍
They are some of my favorites!
Great topic!!! I always love the gimmick covers. Can’t wait for part two 😎
I hope you were able to catch the series now that it's done. I had a lot of fun! Thanks for the comment!!!
Heck yeah finally a thorough haul of what I consider the coolest comics ( 90s gimmicks)!!! Can’t wait to see all the parts to this series!!

Wow I nevr saw those photo covers before. I didn't know they did those.
I love a good photo cover. I'm going to show a couple more in my bonus video. They can actually be pretty cool. Thanks again for the great comments!!!

I got Spider-man 1990 #1 the silver cover version. 😀👍
I think you HAVE to have a copy of that if you lived through the '90's. It's iconic!!!

I love that comic! Did you know it had 3 covers?
