      I love it when they come up through the grass every year 😍. That's some extreme weather change! Hope you're well x

    Hi, im enjoying your gardening journey, rubrarb needs time to establish so not taking from it in a the first couple of years is the advise. However the leaves are poisonous to us, so its just the stems we eat. The flowers in your lawn are crocus and not snowdrops.hope that helps!

      Very helpful, thank you... I have only ever harvested the stalks 😀 i won't start sampling the leaves, then 🙃 good to know they are crocus and not snow drops... know abit about veg and nothing about flowers 😅 i love them though seem to get more each year

    Man, you sure do know a lot about gardening. You should have worked at a nursery. You ask about weather. In California, we are around between 50-60 degrees. It doesn't rain much here only in the winter months. You could plan anything in the summer cause it's not going to rain. In the summer it gets up between 80-110 degrees and no rain. It's so fun to watch the differant things you put out. The WW2 meals I hope you have S.O.S. on that list. Great job guys, love the content.❤😎

      Think i know enough to get through 🙃 still make.plenty of mistakes and always learning 😅 s.o.s is that creamed beef? Filmed the curried beef on the weekend. I really enjoyed making the video! No rain is crazy! We get rain all through summer here 🤣

      @WearyWolfAdventures Cream beef over toast. It is so good. My grandma would make it for my grandfather, he was in the war. I remember sitting at the kitchen table he pushed the plate to me. I didn't know what it was. Grandma cooked it for him many times. It's been since then with my grandpa that I have had that. Sure does sound good. Hey, Brother, you be safe and have a great week.❤😎

    Just kidding. I’m enjoying the video. Very clear info which is fantastic. With the raspberries - are you sure that they will form fruit on newly grown wood? Some don’t form fruit until the second year. Did you say that you pea,ed this week 🤣. Good advice about planting small amounts several times during the season.looks like everything is going well, I’m jealous that I can’t start until I get back home in April. Although right now is typically -15C for a daily high temp!! A very inhospitable climate at this time of year. The rhubarb leaves aren’t really that poisonous it’s just that the stalks taste better. Forcing rhubarb gives you a nice early crop but it really takes a lot out of your plants. You will need to feed and ‘baby’ them for the rest of the year. Remember to not take all the leaves otherwise you will lose your plants.

      Rhubarb leaves are quite dangerous if eaten. People have died as a result of eating rhubarb leaves, although they probably ate a large amount, but even a small amount can lead to temporary kidney or gastro issues and if you keep eating it then you're asking for permanent complications.

      Great info.. I'm thinking I will leave the rhubarb this year as I haven't seen it grow on this plot! I know it's established, but I'm just not sure about its overall condition. I have pea'ed this week 😅 I have learned the hard way growing everything at the same time in previous years 🙃 the raspberry varieties I have fruit on New Year's growth.. I have seen that some fruit on woody canes as well.

      I have never messed with the leaves. I've only ever used the stalks

    • @drhoy15
      @drhoy15 14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      So the leaves and the stalked have almost exactly the same amount of oxalic acid in them. That’s the ‘toxic material’. Rhubarb stalks are as toxic and the leaves. I wouldn’t eat the leaves but it’s important to know that saying the leaves are toxic is a relative term.
