It's a good game. But better to buy on discount. We are kind of spoiled for choice on the amount of free to play rhythm games there are, which makes games like DJmax seem like a bad deal.
Honestly I get where you're coming from, especially considering the price for the dlc, probably makes the game look like it's not worth the money. The game is def very good but i do recommend getting it + some dlc when its on sale. And also, you don't need every single song to enjoy the game (700+usd without sale, yikes) so don't let that turn you off
And to clear up what some comments are saying, charts in djmax are done in a different style (due to the main games being played on consoles) and it differs a bit from the style of regular mania charting (SC difficulty tends to lean more towards mania-style charts) . Same goes for different gameplay mechanics like side tracks and 8B mode (8B does not play the same way that 8K mode would in mania, same goes for every other mode)
This is a case of people on the other side not understanding the other side. DJMAX is for people that want a more polished and formal game with great visuals (you know, the qualities of a PAID GAME.) osu is for those who want more variety in terms of charting styles, music, and difficulty with a better client to play the game. Both are respectable in what they do and both have charting philosophies that each have their own flaws. I was in this guy's shoes, turned away at the price but then it went on sale and I gave it a shot, immediately understood why people like it.
Djmax is always on sale. It feels and presents like a quality console game and uses licensed music, osu is a janky ugly indie game that's profiting off music they have no rights to use
Tbh lazer fixes most issues with it being "janky", but i mean stable was made in like 2007 i dont remember. Also it has alot of featured artists with great songs but most maps are still anime opening tv size jump farm slop lol
@@parali30 They got a handful of artists permissions to use their songs for free because if they can't fight them, then join them. If users are going to use the artist in questions copyrighted music no matter what and there's no legal recourse, then might as well use it as a platform for free exposure. From the artists side it's just making the best of a bad situation. Also I tried lazer and I don't agree. It isn't on the same level of polish that djmax, sdvx, iidx, chunithm, popn, etc. have.
djmax also paid money for the songs to be in the game, and royalties cost a shit ton. osu is going to cost the same anyways if you’re going to get a drawing tablet for it, which is basically a necessity if you want to rank high
a drawing tablet is not a necessity if you want to rank high mouse is fine even better in some cases since it's so much more comfortable to hold at least for me
@@wintersnowflakes no he isn't theres multiple mouse players in the top 10 and the only reason there isn't more is cause most people when they start switch to tablet 😭
@@Floatyoat drawing tablets are the norm kek. you don't have to be a smartass, yeah some people use mouses but the huge majority of top players are tablet users
50 dollars for osu mania but with high quality bar skin and judgment while you can edit osu mania skin to this is crazy💀

There are cheaper options for mobile, like rotaeno
Really fun one you figure it out and the amount of base content is good and it keeps increasing
@@DJruslan4ic it looks like a mobile version of maimai. Looks fun! I'll give it a try.

i play mainly 7k and 8k, and when i got started with 8k i thought djmax was a good way to start learning. turns out i was very wrong...

Tbh 50$ for a vsrg game is too much but im fine with it
so in the end what was the reason for it being worth 50 dollars? or even 10 dollars after discounts? i still don't get it (
Don't mind if i do💀
Dj max doesn’t go hard enough which is the problem
