- Storm's Holiday Ordeal was held on November 27th, 2009, at the Aladdin Theater in Portland, Oregon. Storm Large, Holcombe Waller, and Wade McCollum sang "Hallelujah," with James Beaton on piano and Scott Weddle (off camera, darn it!) playing guitar.
I usually do regular concert photographs, but Holcombe mentioned to me that I ought to try to catch this song on video if I could. I am SO grateful to him. I think their performance is beautiful; it's haunting and glorious at the same time. I love it.
There was no way to set up in the middle of the theater; I was one hurried camera, and there isn't a center aisle at the Aladdin. I didn't want to get too far back - I'd lose the intimacy. This side view worked out well, but I wish I could have caught Scott on camera, too; his presence in this song is part of the magic.

@@pearltears8039 As far as I know, she sings straight to the mic, no back track. I apologize if my poor film/sound quality make this look out of sync or something. But I work a lot of shows (as a plain photographer), and I've seen her perform 25 or 30 times... and she's never needed a back track that I've witnessed. She's just that good. :)
I saw Storm and her band for the first time last night in Detroit. She blew my fucking hair back. Love you Storm. You are my new favorite vocalist. Please come to Detroit again ( I know you will).

I'm glad you like the song. This is the only recording of this performance, as far as I know, and I'm not sure if the original audio track is cd-quality. If they ever decide to include it on a cd, though, I'll mention it on my TH-cam page. :)

First heard and became a fan of Storm singing 8 Miles Wide. Not only was the video visually captivating, the message of love was wondrous. She comes across on screen as such a powerhouse; in person she must knock your soul into orbit.
See her live if you get the chance. Really... go see her. I've seen her twice at close range in small venues: once with Pink Martini and once with her own band. "Spellbinding" is the best word I can come up with.

Well, she was here (U.C. Irvine) last week, L.A. after that, then Frisco. Not sure why she didn't do a show in SLO or Scruz or something. Now she's off to the east coast until mid-November. I was at the Irvine show (third row center - oh yeah!) but am tempted to take a road trip to Portland to see her again in Nov. You can see the whole tour sched on stormlarge.com BTW.

This is one of my absolute favorite songs. I have yet to hear a version that I wasn't melted by. But the harmony on this is spectacular. I wish I'd been there to see this magic take place, to feel it rock my soul. Thank you, Storm, Holcombe, and Wade!

I agree and apologize. I had gotten that camera that very day, so I was not yet accustomed to its capabilities. I had just wanted to catch the singing, and it was so beautiful that I had to post it.
