It's just magical how herbs have such powerful benefits to the human body! Most body and mind ailments can be aided by some sort of plant. ❤ And yes we would LOVE to see the anti-anxiety tea blend!

I love horsetail! It has so many wonderful vitamins that are vital and very nourishing especially for hair and skin. I mix it in tea blends when I'm needing that extra boost of vitamins, plus I do enjoy the taste!

Rich in silica ! But Field horsetail should not be confused with marsh horsetail (Equisetum palustre) which is poisonous.

Horsetail grows all over New England, I've got tons in my yard. I use it in high calcium recipes; teas, tinctures. Nice flavor.

I've used horsetail for allergies and respiratory problems, but I had to buy it dried. It doesn't grow wild here. And I'm a writer myself, and have written several very successful books (non-fiction and textbooks). It's challenging, inspiring, and exhausting. But in the end, it's all worth it. I can't wait to read your new book! 🧡💛💚💙💜 P.S. Here's the best writing tip I ever got. The real magic in writing is in the editing. Don't expect your first draft to be good. No one writes a good first draft. But you need the first draft so you have something to start polishing to perfection: “There is no great writing, only great rewriting.” ― Justice Louis Brandeis

Horsetail ~ AKA puzzle grass.. good for skin/hair/nails thanks to its high silica content, making a great addition to skin/hair care products. And when it's young in the spring you can pan fry them in garlic and butter and eat like asparagus. Just research first before consuming :)

Hi! Horsetail (Kjerringrokk in norwegian) is well known in my part of the world, and in folk tradition has been used both in food (salads (root), bread, herbal tea (plant shoots), as shampoo, and as medicine. Medicinally it has been used for a range of ailments, such as problems related to the kidneys and stomach ulcers; burns, and corns.

Thought I’d add a quote as well: “The herb is also high in beneficial bioflavonoids which strengthen blood vessels and support circulation. Butcher’s broom works even better when it is taken with other herbs or horsetail (high in silica) as well as rutin (vitamin P) that support the vascular system.”

I haven't been practicing that long but I have worked with horsetail. I found it useful to act
as a clear line of separation. Protective satchels are the obvious use but the most interesting way I used it was as a metaphysical holding cell. That day I was in a train that someone had jumped in front of. I felt the energy sticking to me and it was constantly pushing me towards panic and dark thoughts. I made a small wreath of a dried horsetail I had and pushed all the negative thoughts into it. Then I made and lit a protective candle (with cinnamon, rosemary and thyme), invoked the element of fire and burned the wreath. It didn't get rid of all the feelings but it at least allowed me to sleep that night and go to school the next day.

I've read that you can make tea with it. Or, steep the plant in hot water (use a strong infusion) and when it cools, use it for a final rinse in your hair. Also, can be used in baths to help with UTIs.

Horsetail grows in masses, where I live. There are quite a few uses, and I'm sure, you could use some of them. Its great for Spine Issues (backpains and such), and with the high amount of silicate, it is beneficial for strengthening weak connective tissue. It activates the kidneys, is good for detox and rheumatic symptoms. It also has uses for some lung and skin issues.
My Favorite use however, is for structure. Whenever you habe tasks, that need you to be organized (such as taxes as a selfemployed person ;-) ), or plan on a structural basis, Horsetail is always my companion.
I usually use it as Tea.If you want to benefit from the silicate

I’m wondering if your horsetail is similar to the marestail I get on my allotment in the U.K.
I only use it to make a fertiliser “tea” for my magical herbs 🌿 at the moment. I mix the plant in water in a closed large bin & leave for at least 6 months before using. Stinks to high heaven but works really well as a Spring boost for my magical garden

I'm so disappointed. All my local elderberries have been eaten by the wildlife before I could get to them. There's one bush left (not by a road) but it only has one small bundle of berries. Hi Annie, I recently found your channel and love it. Where do you get your herbs from?

  • @ColdBluex
    @ColdBluex 2 ปีที่แล้ว

(I've been following you for a while now, but it's my first comment. I'm not a big commenter!)
I'm Italian and here it's called Equiseto (from his scientific name Equisetum spp) but it's also often called "Coda di cavallo", literal for "horse tail" and my mother has used it several times in the past, for a big pain she had in her elbow joint, because of some problem to its cartilage.
There was a bizarre man, living alone with his partner in the woods on the hills around here, with a big herbal garden. I was little but I do know he was a great herbalist and used to make essential oils and remedies himself.
He examined my mother, said that she had a cartilage problem and that she should use Equisetum powder and eat it with something, like some spoons of yogurt.
My mother has always said that the taste is absolutely awful but following those instructions, her problem disappeared for some years and even now, after more than 20-25 years it is still very mild.
It was Equisetum because it has a high silicon content.
She still has a little compendium, written by this man, about the history, the importance and the uses of horsetail.
If you think this information can be useful for you, I can try to translate them (or at least the most important parts) and send them to you at the email address that is present in your YT information (not because internet doesn't have even more useful information about it, but because they was written by an old herbalist ) :)

my apologies if this is something youve been asked and answered before, as youve worn it many times, but I was wondering if you could share if there was a particular place or brand you got that beautiful dress from, the brown one with seeming wrap details? it looks like the perfect blend of an apron and a dress and its gorgeous. If its handmade or a thrifted find or simply not anywhere anymore I understand but I had to ask just in case. Your style is always something I absolutely adore and aspire to, even if some of it isnt the same on my frame.
So lovely to hear about progress on your book. Sending many good vibes. That tea looked lovely, and im excited to hear what you learn about horsetails!
