If not the best, everyone else is like "I got it but I don't use it because I'm mega rich and I use 3 4k underwater cameras and a 60inch flat screen to watch." Lol
Exactly Shane, when I first made that video there were three that were really easy to find out there. One was in Russian, another was from the manufacturer and just as useless as the instructions they put in the box, and the third was one where the guy was completely bashing the product the whole time he had it on demo mode
I just bought one too. Amazon reviews were good. Really only wanted something that would let me know depth and structure. If it marks fish, great. But if the marks aren’t the greatest that’s fine too. For the money it makes sense to have something to start out with. Great video. Fishing and hunting shouldn’t be about the money you spent but the time you spent enjoying it.
The problem with cheaper fish finders, is it can't differentiate the difference between heavy underwater vegetation and fish, mine was picking up dense water Lilly bulbs at the bottom, of the lake and beeping uncontrollably, but the water was crystal clean I could see clear to the bottom, there were no fish only vegetation, when I moved to another section with a sandy bottom the beeping stopped. This is a deal breaker for me.
I live out in massachusetts. I just got mine beginning Of February. As for finding fish, I don't rely on the accuracy. But, for bottom depth, and weeds/rock, Very good! I really enjoy mine the last 3 trips out. I just turn the sensitivity to max setting or completely off. At least at max setting, the filter should filter out small stuff and find me the big fish. So far so good for my experience
Thank you, you just sold me one. Have done my first time ice fishing last week here in Canada and is pretty hard to do ice fishing with out know how deep to drop the bait. Thanks for the video
Thanks for the info. Love basic unbiased reviews of cheap tech that makes a difference. Got one of these for Christmas and am excited to go try it on a frozen SD lake.
Probably tomorrow maybe the next day, I’ll have up my one year review and a run through of the features and controls so stay tuned. I have the film I just have to edit it
Thanks for the excellent review on this product. Bought it and taking my kids out for their first ice fishing experience should be a handy and reliable tool!
Classic math skills - I sympathise completely :) I was waiting for you to come up with the answer and when you didn’t, I cracked up laughing lol. Nice review of a product everyone can afford - thanks! I’m sure Bruce thanks you too! :)
I like mine, of course I am going to upgrade, but this has worked great for me for 2 seasons now. Will be using it in a tournament tomorrow, which I will put out a video of
@@WyomingIceHole we still don't have decent ice where I am, the ice season is so short I'm hoping it will help me find fish faster and make the most of my time on the ice. I'll probably test it out on a nearby stream first.
That's not a bad perch at all, I've been looking for a quick way to check depth before setting up the tent and unloading the gear and this might be the move. Thanks for the great video
Bought the same one for our fishing vids here on TH-cam. I'm trying to figure out how to to get the sound on. Thank you. New Subscriber! Great perch size.

@@issaml.4189 for example, if the water depth is 30 feet, transducer would sense the presence of fish in 21 feet cone area. This is calculated by taking 70% of the water depth.
having trouble trying to get it to not recognize my bait/lure, any suggestions to how to solve that? I have been messing with the sensitivity and it seems to mark it on whichever sensitivity I am on. solid video, appreciate it
It really depends on how big the lure is. If it is a 3/4 ounce jig... it picks it up every time. Remember... its like 40 bucks, lol It is good at what it does for the money, but it is not a vexilar :)
In my experience it does not pick them up, there is a magic density of an object that I have yet to completely figure out. I have seen them in open water, and no signals... but then it picked up the bass chasing them. I know that isn’t much help... “if” it did pick them up, it would look the same as a 30” pike... it just shows you “something” changed the time between the sonar wave hitting bottom last time, and this time.
And.... btw.... there are no dumb questions when it comes to stuff you don’t know! Keep asking! I know I do, and that behavior... more than any other... results in fish caught, at least it does for me.
Absolutely, I want one of the garmin striker series. Even if it’s just a striker 4. But my wife would kill me if I spent more money on fishing stuff😂 gonna give you a subscribe! Thanks for the video. If you ever head to Dallas I’ll take you to some of my honey holes!
Did you notice it picking up weeds as fish or?. Im not sure if i was marking fish or not i think i was at like 15-20ft of water so it couldve been i guess. The marks were coming and going
At 20’, with a 45 degree cone, each box on the screen is about 2’ of depth. If the fish were staying on your screen, they were likely not rainbows. Coming and going, that sounds more like trout. I would be more concerned with your presentation, bait type, freshness, how pressures are they, etc than whether or not the fish finder is working right. Remember it is a tool, a helpful one yes, but just a tool.... it isn’t the chisel that crafts sculptures, it is the artist.... in this case it is you, thinking about what the trout want, where they are going to be, how they are going to behave, where their food is, etc that nets you that monster.... the tools just help you answer those questions
It just means something is between the sonar and the bottom. Underwater cameras have brought me entertainment, but a proper sonar brought me more fish. I upgraded to the garmin (400$) version. Worth every penny

Great question Marcus, I actually had the same question so I tested it out in open water. I had a telescoping pole that measures 16’. I found an area in a local pond that I knew to be about 12’. Took both the sonar and the pole out. Sonar read 10.3 ft... I thought this had to be wrong. Dipped the pole measured to where the water touched, 10’ 1”.... I said oh well it’s off by a couple of inches, till I got home and remembered that the duvet sits in the water about 2”.... so all of that is to say, it’s pretty doggone acurate
