I ditched fast food once I realized there was nowhere left I could go and get full for less than $10. When you spend that much and have to eat again when you get home because you're still hungry, that's a waste of money.

A lot of fast food is designed to hit that quick satisfaction which means extra stuff added like lots of salt, sugars, bad fats. These then make you hungrier faster
There is. Every day a fast food place has deals. Mcdonalds often. You have to order online. I eat at Mcdonalds all the time for around $6 without a drink. Plenty of food too.

For me, I've quit going. It's not worth spending two hours of my pay for a stupid meal. I can cook burgers at home for TWO BUCKS or THREE BUCKS, not $13+ for base burgers.

Do you have any idea how many employees most fast food chains have? As of 2022, McDonalds employed roughly 150,000 people worldwide. McD's CEO made $20 million in 2021. If he gave up his entire salary and divided it equally among all employees, that's $133 per person. In a year. That going to make or break you? Probably not, and it won't for anyone else either.

$4.95 for a large Coke (0:50). That's crazy. You can still find 2 liter bottles of soda in the grocery store for about $2. That's five liters for $5. Whether you would want to drink that much is another story, but no matter what fast food restaurants may say, they're selling the product for an enormous markup. Aside from tap water, soda is one of the cheapest items restaurants serve.

@jjpark1989 Not many people are sitting in at a McDonald's. A large cup at most fast food places are 30oz. There are 33oz in one liter, to get your money's worth, you would have to fill up 4 times as compared ($4.95 price mentioned at 0:50 mark) to a $2 2 liter you can find at your Walmart.

I went to a fast food place to get some lunch. The price was $15.00. I left, and went to the grocery store where they also have a deli, and only spent $5.99. On some day the grocery store also has markdowns, and the lunch only costs $ 3.00.
This is so important, I regularly go to the grocery store for lunch and it ends up being a fraction of the cost of going out to eat, especially fast food.
I was shopping at wal mart, bought a day old deli sandwich marked down to $ 3.50. Good sandwich, still fresh would have been $9 or $10 at a sandwich shop except......the WalMart sandwich had Way MORE Meat in it.

Went to Sonic in December and bought a butter garlic burger, medium Jalapeno peppers and fried pickles and it totalled $18.45. Never been back to Sonic since then.

Price on blunts went up everywhere. I could get 4 of the 2 packs for under $10, it was like $7 or $8.50. Now its $10 or $11. Gas is gonna go up to $5 this summer for regular.
I haven't eaten Hardee's (Carl Jr's twin) in a good while. They no longer have their $5 deal and their prices have also skyrocketed.

The only issue with sit down meals are the expected tip/gratuity. The restaurant owners are too cheap to pay their workers a decent wage.

Tipping is an American/Canadian issue. Our system is built where restaurants can take in massive profit and employees rely heavily on tips. In Europe and other eastern countries, like Japan, tips are generally unheard of. In Japan specifically, they actually find tips as an insult.
Thats why I won't go near a place that requires tipping. I have always been 100% against tipping. It is the employer's *JOB* to pay their employees, not mine.

I can buy a Red Baron supreme frozen pizza at Walmart for cheaper than a Big Mac sandwich. And it's 400% more food. How embarrassing.
Buy the dry packet of pizza crust mix, some cheese, and can of spaghetti sauce. Pizza for far less than frozen and tastes better too. About $2/pizza. Ready for oven in 5 minutes. I keep tidbits of cooked meat in freezer for toppings. Next day serve spaghetti to use up extra sauce.
The Walmart pizza in the deli is good too
I buy the premade pizza that just comes with sauce then I pick up some cheese and pepperoni some spices and make my own dam pizza for 12 bucks 3 dollars for the premade pizza 3 bucks for some cheese and about 5 bucks for the pepperoni and with taxes comes out close to 12 bucks. Go to any fast food place you pay close to 20 bucks for a 12” pizza. These are Canadian prices but still cheaper than fast food.
Processed frozen junkfood being cheaper that other processed frozen junk food isnt embarassing. What IS embarassing for McDonald is when I can buy an entire pork roast, some potatoes, and some broccoli and make an entire 6 serving dinner MADE FROM REAL FOOD for less than the cost of one single combo meal.

Fast Food restaurants are CRAZY. We are not gonna spend nearly $20 bucks (hear me: TWENTY BUCKS) per person on simple things that they are trying to rip us off with. They should know that everyone got better at cooking during Covid, so now, most of us are nearly Home Chefs. So, we are cooking hamburgers, fries, etc., at home and making them so much cheaper. Nowadays, I can make most of my meals for $2.00 or $2.500 each serving. And, I can barely get an order of fries for that. Thank you, Covid, for the time that I had to take cooking lessons.
I bought ground beef 3lbs for 14 bucks. It made 11 burgers. About 1.10 per burger to patty them myself. Throw in the buns 2 dollars a pack. Pack of cheese. 3 bucks 19 bucks for 11 burgers. People are wising up.

MCD spends around $11 billion on wages. Total expense is around $13 billion. As unfair as it sounds, doubling the CEO salary will have little to no impact to the company but slightly increasing the minimum wage will drastically impact operating cost. The company can choose to raise prices or go out of business. This is why increasing the minimum wage doesn't help the cost is just passed back to customers.

Look at it this way...fast food breakfast + fast food lunch + fast food dinner is $40/day x 7 days is $280/week. If I cook, my groceries are $125/week for healthy food. I'd rather keep my money than destroy my health and hand my money to fast food restaurants! I do keep a few cans of ready to eat food at work like canned pasta in sauce, canned soup for "emergencies" because even at $1/can it is 1/10 the cost of lunch out.

I cant even do sit-down restaruants anymore. Quality control went out the window with covid and never came back, and service is so slow that often Im finished with my meal and left trapped there feeling like a prisoner just waiting on the check. The majority of restaruants used canned or instant foods but still want to charge fresh cooked prices. I had one restaurant argue with me over the price of a side of mashed potatoes refusing to refund me for it after I took one bite and instantly could taste that fake chemically taste of instant boxed potatoes.

I used to get fast food way more often than I should have. The last couple of years of ridiculous prices forced me to change my habits. I cook at home more, and on the rare occasion I do eat out, I now go to a sit down restaurant where the food is better for about the same price. I’m eating better, healthier food, I’m saving money, and I feel better. It’s a win all around.

15-18 years ago a study showed single person working 40hrs needed an income of at least $11hrly. A few years later $15 hrly was required to support one person.

A few months ago I went to McDonald’s & ordered a cheeseburger w/ Bacon, a small fry & a drink! 🍔🍟🥤All these items at one point were on the dollar menu & would all cost you no more than $4 to $5 tops! I tell you no lie, the McDonald’s employee said “That’ll be $11.40” or something like that, I just immediately pulled off with no explanation & went to get REAL food for the same price & got more food at that! McDonald’s betrayed its core customers when we needed them most! McDonald’s has market cap of $211 Billion at the time of this post! They also have an annual revenue of over $23 billion a year. They make enough money & have enough money! No need to be greedy because you have to pay your workers a livable wage who make you the money day & night! Smh

What did folks think would happen when Democratic Governor Newsom imposed a mandatory wage for fast food workers to $20 a hour? There is still benefits and workman's comp insurance to be paid as well. Already seen cashier positions eliminated, kiosk ordering only.
If anything, this is great that more people's eyes are being opened to the fact that these companies don't give two shits about either their workers or customers. The American worker and consumer is a dollar sign and nothing more.

If you're going to raise your menu prices, please leave your product the way it was. We know when you've shrunken the portion size of what we order but shrunk in such a way so as to give us the illusion that it's the same size it's always been. You can't fool us, we know.

Back in my day we ate out at a restaurant only a couple times a month. We had home cooked meals 7 days a week and it was considered a treat to eat out. Perhaps people need to get back to eating at home.

Eggs buy eggs there cheap healthy and can be made in multiple ways and be eaten for every meal breakfast lunch dinner.
I spent $19 on six tacos and two drinks at taco bell. Each taco only contained about 1 teaspoon of meat and nothing else. No lettuce, no tomato, no cheese, no sour cream or onions. I took $19 to the grocery store and purchased everything needed to make 15 tacos that had all of those ingredients. I'll never buy fast food again unless the prices become reasonable.

I buy only special promos. I even bring my drink when I am out. I haven't bought combos in ages. No way. It's ridiculous.
This is the way. Always use the app and bring your own drink. Use the free fries deal, 2 mcdoubles or mcchicken for a total of $3.99. Combos are a waste of money you don't have to spend big at Mcdonald's.
That’s why I see more and more opting for locally owned deli or other quick eats food with cheap deals. There are some places all across the U.S. where they sell footlong sandwiches for under $5 with tax. $1-$1.50 pizza still exists in the U.S.

Most Financial Experts will say that a person with no collage education working an average 40 hour work week should not be paying more than 30% of their Take Home Pay for rent and basic utilities . Even if a Fast Food Restaurant is paying $20 per hour , 30% of that is $960 (BEFORE TAX) . Maybe in some areas a person could find an Efficiency Apartment for that price but not where I live , even in the Ghetto it costs more than that .

I stopped eating at McDonald's years ago when their prices were getting unreasonably high.
41 year old here. I remember the 80s, 90s, early 2000s, and 2010s, when life didn't suck as much. I spent my 20s and 30s eating out all the time, when fast food wasn't so expensive. Ever since around Covid, these businesses have all been colluding with each other to price-gouge the consumer. We the people need to hit back at these greedy corporations posting record profits. Boycott is the way to go. I am using a catering service that delivers your food for the week to your front door. Healthier, cheaper, and I'm not supporting a greedy corporation.
People shouldn't be eating that poisonous garbage in the first place,the higher prices should serve as a sign to eat real food at home or go to a real locally owned restaurant that serves real food God knows the prices are the same as the overpriced garbage that is fast food.

After Covid, restaurant prices went up, and customer service went down, and we were expected to be patient with that because staffing was down. Three years later, I’m tired of paying inflated prices for poor service and an inconsistent product. We have a smaller list of restaurants we go out to where the service is good and the prices are reasonable and we cook at home more often.
There’s a local brewery I order from they actually have cheap food that’s good. They make small portion sizes it’s more of an appetizer for your alcohol but the food is good. Best chilli I’ve ever had same with the clam chowder they also have good sandwiches. I spent 15 bucks and got 15oz chilli a good sandwich a salad and a big glass of beer.
Right? Service is STILL bad and slow at the sit down restaurants. Can never go to a sit-down restaurant and spend less than two hours there. I often feel like a prisoner after I'm finished eating and sitting there twiddling thumbs waiting for the server to finally bring my check and beg for a tip.

Fast food prices have gone extremely crazy these days. For how much they charge, you can go to either a local sit-down restaurant, a diner, a food truck, or a sports bar & get yourself a nice, quality meal for around those same prices.
You can go buy a pound of ground beef from a grocery store or a supermarket (along with fries, hamburger buns & the fixin's; Assuming that you don't have them), & you'll be able to make *_a lot of_* hamburgers for around the same prices that fast food restaurants are charging for their combos.
Hell, I can even simply walk to my local hospital (which isn't too far from where I live), go to their cafe, & get myself decent, quality meals from there such as a hamburger & fries for a lot cheaper (& it'll only come up to $5.99 after tax). That's just how pathetic fast food are nowadays.
I got 3 lbs of ground beef. Pack of buns. Pack of cheese. Total 19 bucks. Made 11 burgers. When these companies start pulling this crap, i start making my own. Takes 10 mins. freeze them good to go.
