    Nice video! I miss the boys doing their jobs starring in your vlogs. But I guess having that AND the pretty landscapes is too much to ask.

      Hi. Thanks for watching and for the comments Maloy. We had a great time in this video. Yes the boys need to do more starring roles in our videos. As they get older they are less inclined to want to be filmed. I hope you are well and thanks again for watching.

      @@SailingMokara You can tell them that many 16-year-old girls watch sailing videos to meet hot boys to naughty-Skype with. Or so I heard.

    French Polynesia is surely one of the more fascinating as well as isolated places on the planet. The Groupers plainly agree, and they know the oceans well. Glorious atolls, lagoons, reefs. Love them piggies. The little shops are interesting, as you wonder about their supply challenges. Understandable that you wish to hang about for a while. Your unhurried exploration has provided us a nice overview of this paradise.

    • @SailingMokara
      @SailingMokara  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is an amazing place and there is so much to see here. Obviously we all typically go to Tahiti or Bora Bora when we come to this region but the true paradise is a short flight away in the Tuamotus. There are so many remote island groups in addition to the Tuamotus that you can explore this area for years and never stay in the same place. Only really possible by boat of course. We started our journey in Spain but I think if I were to do it again, I would start here though the danger is that you never go anywhere else. The supply ship goes to a couple of the atolls in the Tuamotus and then the locals make their own way to these atolls from outlying areas on their own small boats. Fakarava also has the airport and there are people in Tahiti that will shop for specific items for you and get them on the flight to the atoll for you to pick up. A great network that works well. Thanks again for watching

      @@SailingMokara Yeah, the supply process to remote places like this is interesting, especially a cooperation network.

    ,,High tide, however still beautiful" I think that was the reason why it was so beautiful! It looked absolutely magical. I hope to be there next year - in Fakarava. 🩵 I love your sailing videos.

    21:16 What a sweet little piglet!!! Is that a wild boar he's playing with? 😛

      😛 That is a lucky piglet for the moment. They BBQ them here when there are enough hungry sailors. Yes, a very wild boar that he is playing with.

    Nice video. Like watching those old travel films from the ‘60s. I could be mistaken but it sounded like at some point in time between the filming and the post-production voice-over that your young man’s voice changed.

    5:55 Those decorations are amazing! Those are just fenders, aren't they? A little creativity - et voila, a nice looking street!
    PS And yet again, I'm asking where are all the people. I only saw locals at the shop. The streets are completely empty. Nobody takes a walk, kids are not swimming in the ocean... ghost-island.

  • @Maloy7800
    @Maloy7800 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    3:49 Whatever that is. 😀THAT, my dear Shawn, is a light house... or maybe a lighthouse. And a VERY clever one. You can only see the light at a VERY specific angle which I suppose is alligned to the entrance into the atoll. You don't see the light - you're heading into the reef. Clever.

    • @SailingMokara
      @SailingMokara  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think mostly the locals do quite well of tourism etc. Remember they most don't have cars so this is their car to an extent and if you look at it from that perspective it is a cheaper item.

    • @SailingMokara
      @SailingMokara  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Where is Raraka? Give me a bit more info and hopefully I can help. Thanks

    • @SailingMokara
      @SailingMokara  ปีที่แล้ว

      I see where Raraka is. Very close to Fakarava. So 38.7 Nautical Miles from the South Pass of Fakarava to the pass entry on the north of Raraka where the village is. The other option is from the north pass of Fakarava to Raraka which is 43.8 Nautical miles as the crow flies.
      Best bet is to get a local to take you. Tetamanu Diving organises transfers from the south pass of Fakarava to the north of Fakarava. They are worth contacting to see what they can arrange for you. www.tetamanudiving.com/en/

    Two small observations about your family:
    1. Where do your kids go barefoot? Grass, prickly undergrowth, asphalt. When do they wear shoes? WHEN SWIMMING!
    2. When do you NOT wear masks? When in a port on quarantine. When DO you wear masks? On a dinghy in the middle of the harbor with no humans in sight.
