  • I graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2015. There is a large and growing international student population that really started growing during my time at the university. This video contains some general information about MUN, and some information that may be of specific interest to international students.

    So many people who come to Newfoundland to study at MUN decide to stay after graduation, and go on to do great things. Here's one story from someone who did just that, and is building their life here: th-cam.com/video/0r2zQlJdodM/w-d-xo.html

    Great video, man! I also loved studying at MUN. Did my BA and my MA there. Things have now come full circle as I’m teaching at MUN this fall!

      Hi sir, I am also planning to pursue MA in humanities and also want to be a professor in future. Is admission with exact 70%in undergraduate degree possible?

      Thank you so much for your inspiring response. Watching your video has inspired me to start my application for a master's program in Edu Tech or Gender Studies in the fall of 2024. My question is, Is the acceptance rate high? I just need someone on the ground to help me through the application process so that I won't miss the 2024 academic session.

    Thanks, Mark. It was a great video about MUN. I recently came to St. John's because my wife is a student at MUN and I had a chance to live a month on campus. Due to the beautiful campus and amazing area where you can see around the university, I had an awesome experience.

      That’s really great that you enjoyed your time on campus. Are you still in St. John’s, just off-campus? Or did you return home?

    attending MUN soon, tuition fees hike by 200% for international student is a real tragedy, for example the 4 year degree becomes 80,000 CAD instead of 40,000 CAD ! At least they should slowly increase it not doubling it like this :/ I hope MUN reconsider and take action on something....

    • @mark_royle_newfoundland
      @mark_royle_newfoundland  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm with you there 100%. The tuition hike is ridiculous and the amount of wasted money the "leadership" has spent on themselves over the past few years is absolutely infuriating. If you'd like to know more about what I'm taking about google "MUN AG report" 😡😡😡

    Soon, I'm going to be enrolled in that school, I do have a question:
    Are the students friendly?
    Can you make friends easily?
    Are the teachers kind?
    and more importantly
    Do you learn anything?

      Hi, thank you for watching. I can only speak on my experience, and I graduated 8 years ago... but I made some very good friends while at school. I was born in Newfoundland but I am happy to say that the friends I met were from all over the world. Locals, international students, and Canadians from other provinces. I enjoyed most of my teachers' classes, but some more than others for sure. And ultimately, I genuinely feel like I got a great education. I wish you luck with your experience!

    Hello, nice video! At the beggining of the video I saw a drone shot of the University in StJOhns and I'm wondering. Because I have a Dji Mini 2 SE drone and i don't have a part 107 licence but I really want to fly my drone in stjonhs but I heard you can't because of the proximity to the airport. Could you share your experience flying a drone in stjohns, and is it legal? thanks! :)

    Hoping to explore the campus and St John's in general in October. It'll be my first visit to NFLD. Can you recommend some cost effective but locally supportive places to stay for a couple of weeks? Im worried airbnb is making things hard for the locals.The Gower Street hostel seems to be totally booked up. I even looked into monastic communities but they don't seems to rent accommodation as they do in a few other places.
    Also is it possible to explore areas outside of St John's without a car (e.g. by bus tour?)? Car rental over there is really steep. Sorry for all the questions.

    • @mark_royle_newfoundland
      @mark_royle_newfoundland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, sorry I am not the best person to ask about housing. I usually suggest air bnb for trips like the one you’re planning but that’s because I’m just not sure of what else is out there. Maybe I’ll look into this for a future video.
      There definitely are bus tours that go to certain places so it would be possible to see some other parts of the province but they are most likely seasonal so I’m not sure if they’ll run in October. One option that you could try is Turo, kind of like air bnb for car rental. I tried it this summer and it was great, and much less expensive than a car rental from the usual providers.

    Noice video subbed. I am an international student planning to apply for this uni. Is it possible to get accepted for a PhD directly coz some people advised me to get a diploma course first since it's impossible to get accepted otherwise. I'd be grateful if you would give ur opinions on this.

    • @mark_royle_newfoundland
      @mark_royle_newfoundland  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for subscribing! I know it is possible to get accepted for a PhD program directly, but I don't know much about how to strategize unfortunately, for example, whether you should go for a diploma first or not. From a *study permit application* perspective , as long as your application is complete and logically makes sense in the eyes of the IRCC you wouldn't necessarily need to complete a diploma program first, but how the *university's program application process* works is a bit outside of my area of expertise.

      Hello, thanks for watching. I studied at MUN and it was a great experience. You should have no trouble finding work while you are studying. Are you an International Student? If so, you will be limited to working a maximum of 20 hours per week off campus while regular classes are in session, but there is no such limit during regularly scheduled breaks (like summer or Christmas breaks for example), or if your job is located on campus.
