Pep's catalogue is insane when you think about it. You have a fourpeat, winning the league in three different countries, winning a treble in two different countries and/or clubs, setting records for goals/points etc in the PL and then there is just the intangible impact of the amount of managers he has spawned + influence of his playing philosophy around the world.

Pep is the ultimate tactics manager, possibly the second most brilliant mind behind Cruyff, but he had so much help. Imagine being able to inherit one of the greatest La Masia cores, then being able to manage Bayern during their farming streak, and then given the financial backing of a NATION to put your ideas into fruition.

@@rubentrujillo1572 the way that these guys were explaining the decisions zidane had to make for that Madrid machine to work like making that formation change of James to Casemiro playing that 4-3-3 defensive. Pep literally completely changed the whole Barca team on a different level, he sacrificed players like Ronaldinho, a top 10 player oat imo in order for that La masia machine to work, he’s an absolute genius. His biggest thing holding him back imo is the fact that he hasn’t got the best ucl records. He’s fluffed easy games in which he should’ve won, but he still has 3 ucls nonetheless. United have also spent more since pep has been there so the money thing is subjective

And I do give him credit for the absolute control that tiki taka gave him. And his financial backing at City wasn't just for transfers, it was for the ENTIRE club. They pumped their way to make him the best academy in England in 8 years. We've yet to see him play for a financially weak team like Klopp, Ancelotti, and Mourinho did

Something to mention. United 99. English league was the 3rd best league at the time and during then, some people were actually saying Bundesliga due to both Dortmund and Bayern were strong. English league was only recovering from the ban in Europe for 5 years. United carried the flag by themselves until Arsenal came along. Blackburn were terrible. Today's equivalent would be, maybe a French team outside of PSG. United were 7th favourites. Check the 7th favourites currently. United group had the favourites (Barca) and the "super squad" that was labelled at the time in Bayern. Came out there with 10 points unbeaten. Then came along the best league in the world. First R9's Inter and beat them at home and drew away. Next? Regarding as the best team in the world, Juve. Against Zidane, Del Piero, Davids, Inzaghi, Conte etc etc with Ancelotti at the realm. First leg the difference in quality was clear and united rescued a draw late on but were lucky too. Away to the best team in the world and were 2 down by 11 minutes. Game over? Came back in the first half and actually started having the upper hand. Hit the woodwork twice. And eventually the mental strength shone through with the comeback complete with Cole 3rd. Back to final against the super squad and were outplayed but again that mental strength to come back with two 90 minute goals. GREATEST RUN EVER. Imagine a Leverkusen doing that this year. We'd lose our minds. United status has maybe blinded our judgement of how that 99 run is perceived.

I get your point, but that makes it more like an underdog story.
That's not what they are discussing, otherwise Leicester would be first place.
The achievement itself "Winning the treble" has been done 10 times and even in England now aswell.
Also the run wasn't nearly as hard as it looks and people make it seem, there have been much harder ucl runs.
That Juventus team came 7th in Serie A that season, until today the worst league finish since 1962.
And R9's Inter finished even worse, in 8th place. Both were in absolute shambles and all over the place.
Just because they had big names, doesn't mean they were actually playing good or being in good form.

The whole idea behind this argument is rank these achievements by DIFFICULTY not necessarily by greatness. Because if we were talking about true greatness then Jose’s wouldn’t even get a shout for first, and the proof in that is that no one ever talks about it. I forgot about it until this episode in fact, versus where the 3 peat with Zidane is brought up a lot more often due to the sheer greatness of the achievement.
But this ranking is by difficulty. And here is my ranking based on that.
    1. Jose’s 9 years at home
    2. Zidane’s 3 peat
    3. Pep’s 4 peat
    4. Sir Alex’s 13 prems
    5. Ancelotti’s 5 CLs and most wins
The way I see that is: If you give each of these 5 managers the same circumstances that the others had, what is the likelihood that they replicate the achievement. The higher the likelihood it is replicated the the less difficult that achievement is. That is what difficulty is in essence, something is difficult because it’s hard to replicate.
That why for me the longevity ones are lower. Because for example you give these managers as long as sir Alex did in the prem, or as long as Ancelotti has been coaching in the UCL, the likelihood that they could recreate those achievements is better than the likelihood that one one of them could go 9 years unbeaten at home across 4 leagues. Of course these are GOAT level achievements so none of them are “easy” by any means dont get that twisted. I just see Jose’s 9 years and Zidane’s 3 peat as the least likely to be able to be replicated.

Lol both of the Madrid related achievements are at the bottom of this list. Zidane didn't come close to replicating his CL dominance in his second spell, which proves it was all about Ronaldo and the rest of the players, whilst Ancelotti's is just down to his age and the amount of time he has spent managing teams with the best players in the world.
Neither of those two built anything and the fact Madrid have 15 CL's proves it is much more down to the club's dna than who coaches them.

You need to judge this as time for time.
For example, if Pep is at City for as long as Fergie was at Man U, there’s every chance he breaks that record.
But absolutely no manager has anything but a tiny, tiny chance to go nine years unbeaten at home. It is an absolutely ludicrous record.

I'm probably going to get killed for this but... Pep is the most overrated of all time. Everywhere he's gone he's had superstars on the roster with unlimited budgets and they were all league winners prior to his arrival. Barcas roster was loaded and he had the GOAT.. Bayern full of superstars and couldn't win Champions League.. Man City loaded roster and unlimited money and didn't want to play a DM in a final and should have lost the other but Lukaku ruined it. He's never had to lead a team from mid table. Plus he is one of the reasons the sport has lost its flair and maverick players. Everyone has forgotten all the talk of how he couldnt win big games with City because they continually collapsed in the champions league year after year..

    • @matiasescobar8730
      @matiasescobar8730 วันที่ผ่านมา

Considering that many of the players from that Barcelona team achieved legendary status thanks to Guardiola, that that team plus Deco, Ronaldinho and a few others went without trophies last season, that Guardiola won the Sextet in his first season, that most of the City players are players who were not so well-known before City itself, I think that we simply have an image that is too much taken from the story rather than from what actually happens.
