NO SIR!!! I am “that” guy. I’m buying 2 - $150 reels before I grab this one! I’ve never used it. I’m a $150-$200 combo guy! I have some Lews and some Abu’s that are $100-150 and they are so easy to dial in and use. I’ve got 30 rods and reels... I switch ‘em up, so I don’t wear them out. I’m not rich... so I have to take care of them. Not to mention... losing 2 overboard in the kayak not paying attention... and a fish pulled them in. If I lost a $400 combo... I’d probably drown diving in after it. Glad we are on the same level in gear pricing. You’re an average guy, with exceptional knowledge and skill. Thanks for the review!!
Protip: You can get the regular Abu Garcia RevoX gen4 ($99.99) an aftermarket shallow/finesse/BFS spool ($20-50) and high speed ceramic bearings ($50.00) for much less ($170-$200 [a savings of $100-130 or more if you pick them up on sale] ) and get basically the same thing.

I have the Revo X and I feel I can cast really far with it too. But that kind of goes with my Revo Premier that has centrifugal brakes. I struggle a little with reels that have both brakes like the SX, SX RKT, or Revo Rocket. Can’t wait to see more reviews! 😁👊🏼🎣

Love the review Debo! So I know this might be a difficult topic to convey, but if there is anyway you could do a video on water visibility that would be awesome. I hear a lot of guys talking about certain baits being more effective in "clear" or "low visibility" water, but I'm not sure if I really know where a lot of my fishing holes fall on that spectrum. Might be too hard to actually show on screen. Anyway, love the channel and keep up the great work!

I have many Abu garcia reels and was thinking about possibly getting one of these. I like the extra spool for light weight applications, other than that would probably use mostly for jerkbaits. Thanks for providing some information to help me make a decision. I have a mgx that is noticeably smoother and casts better with less effort than any other reel I’ve tried. Hoping this reel is comparable.

Great in-depth review Debo. I've used Abu Garcia my whole life but no way am I dropping $300 for a reel.
I got one for my birthday a year ago (pops took me to get a new combo) and let me tell you, i have many curados and other reels, this reel is by far the best. Its pricey, but damn its sweet. Use some 12lb long distance casting line and youll chuck a T-rig about 45 yards. Super smooth, never had any issues, and looks beautiful. Looking for another one soon so i can put the lightweight spool on it for weightless setups 👍🏻
Looks a lot like my Lew’s Pro TI it’s more expensive than the Abu but I know why, the titanium coating. Great review. Thanks.

Beautiful reel. My Revo X can launch frogs for miles as well lol but I've fallen in love with the Diawa Tatula reels as of late since they fit better in my small mitts. I'll have to check this one out though next time I'm reel shopping!

I would like to see some more reviews on Daiwa reels. I have been using Daiwa primarily for the last couple of years, but I am curious how you feel something like a Tatula Elite reel compares to comparably priced reels from other brands.

I got my EXD for the price of a Curado MGL 71. And I won't complain about that, as I think it's the better choice in that pairing.
Using it for a ⅛-½ oz rod with the shallow spool and 8lbs braid.
Awesome video I agree at what point do you get to diminishing returns. I couldn’t spend that amount on a reel as it make no sense to me.
Love Abu, but not sold on this reel for the price. $200 I'm all in on it. But I thought your review was really well done.
Hey Debo! what kind of lure/bait would you feel comfortable to throw on a baitcaster with a plastic/graphite frame? I was thinking maybe any thing with treble hooks since most of the time you don't have the drag set at maximum, therefore a little less stress is put on the reel. I would be curios to know your thoughts! Maybe a video on aluminum vs graphite frame baitcasters would be a very nice to go over those factors!
Yep, treble hook baits and a good number of moving baits. I try not to use graphite reels for anything with hard hooksets, heavy lures, or lure with a lot of resistance. This is a vid I'm going to do soon! I'll shout you out 👊👊👊
I like the Abu round Baitcasters and do have a Revo STX. I think if I'm dropping three saw bucks I'm buying a Shimano. Really nice looking reel though.
I've had a couple of Abu's and used a few others of a friend. My favorite of the lot was recommended by a local shop owner who uses this model himself- Abu Garcia Revo AL-F. I have used it for various jobs and it refuses to backlash & handles light or small lures better than any of my reels. I use & like Shimano the best of all the brands but that AL-F holds a special place in my heart.

@@diychad7268 The lightest thing I throw on that reel would be a weightless senko or Caffeine shad. Handles them very well.
Abu Garcia Black Max reel was my first combo ever and honestly I loved it but the spool release button cracked. This reel looks sick I might buy it but I’ve been thinking about getting a Shimano Curado DC even though I have the Scorpion DC already. Wa Sakai thinking about the revo ike.

The reel looks really good and your review is great. I just don't think I would drop $300 for it though. The only Abu Garcia reel I have ever owned was the black max (my first ever baitcaster) it was a good budget reel then I moved on to Lew's, Daiwa, and Shimano mid range reels. Hard to pull the trigger on a $200+ reel.
I love the color combo, I thought it was a daiwa prorex when I saw the thumbnail.
But $300 dollar is a lot, my wife almost killed me for spending €200 on a lews reel 😅

You are NOT incorrect however the difference in a cheap feel compared to an expensive one is very noticeable, it’s just whether or not the noticeable difference is worth the extra $ to you or not

I’m a budget fisherman, with family I try not to spend a lot but it’s hard not to when you see all the shiny expensive stuff! But guys like DEBO really give you good info on the budget equipment. I recently got a piscifun torrent baitcaster and looking forward to learning how to use it. Tight lines!!
I have the beast x. It is a good reel, but if you want to trow a bait that has les than 10 grams, you will have to control the spool with the finger a little more. For the big baits it is just perfect.

I have almost bought this reel several times but went with the Lews Hypermag instead because of the weight difference. The Lews is only 5.4oz.
Aye Debo! You think this is worth the 300 bucks? Or would you save an extra 50 and get the Daiwa zillion sv? I have a hard time spending over 200 on a Lew’s or Abu or any doyo made reel. I wasn't sure where to post this Devon, I do notice you fish with kastking alot ??? I was looking at upgrading or adding additional bait caster, wife allowing of course. Im looking at the KastKing Crixus ArmourX around $90 on Tackle warehouse, Should I be looking elsewhere ? any recommendation's on a rod to accompany it ??? I lean toward medium fast but Im usual fishing with $20-$50 Zebco style combos so stepping up is a little outside my comfort zone. Daiwa is another Favorite of mine I know they have a few decent rods under $100. Trying to stay under $200 for the combo. I like to Jig, Spinner baits, Traps and of course Love Frogging. If I was gonna spend $300 on a reel (which is not likely), I’d probably go with a DC model like a Shimano Curado DC which I think is $250?. If weight was a concern, the Shimano Chronarch is something like 6.5oz for $280?
What aluminum frame “frogging” real would you recommend (in the $70-$100 range)??

I paid 299 for a Lews Hypermag. It's light, casts light baits really well. It's as smooth as my Daiwa Fuego CT, but there's smooth, then there's Shimano Curado K smooth. From now on any reel I buy is going to have to be as smooth as a Curado K. It just feels like a totally different animal.
How does this compare to a Shimano?

I just learned that I should of bought three Curado's over three Concepts Z's. The Z work is good , but heavy cover...nope.
I liked this reel, for me it was very easy to cast with little to no effort. The feel was nice, the grips are usable however I have started to fall in love with the LEWS WINN grips. Like you hear me in the vid the clicky sound for the brake adjustment is almost enough to keep me away from this feel. For me that click sound keeps me fishing, on this reel I had to stop and look where I am once I adjusted it. The 2nd spool wouldn’t be enough of a win however I would have been interested in the lower gear ratio and it could be a bit more interesting for me. Overall this is a great feel however, it’s not a reel for me. It sounds a bit silly but I like to somewhat match rod reel coolers to some extent, having purple I don’t know how easy that would be.
