Happy Birthday to Eddie Levert, longtime member and co-lead singer of the legendary O'Jays, born June 16th, 1942. On June 16, 2024 he celebrated his 82nd birthday. By any measure, the O'Jays are one of the most important Soul Music groups of all-time. Whether delivering funky dance music, romantic ballads, or thoughtful social commentary in song

Jackson's, Spinners, Whisper, and any I'm forgetting, all great groups, but the O'Jays always killed it with that dynamic duo. I always give props to the producers... Gamble and Huff, Thom Bell, and Linda Creed created an entire GENERATION of top hits.

My Lord, the way uncle Walter smoothed out the song. Uncle Eddie took us to the stairway to church! You can’t tell me they were not raised in church and gospel. It’s beyond showmanship. You can tell they were influenced by gospel music early on in their lives. OMG! It’s all in them!(in my grandmother’s voice). Great day in the morning! Yessir!

Don Cornelius chose who he thought deserved to perform live because it was extremely expensive to produce back then! All acts on Soul Train could perform live because that's how they made their living! Stop the disinformation of the culture!🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁

All the dads out there teach your sons to keep their culture, they can do wonders, please men be close to your sons, to keep your name and the black DNA. Lots of love, I love these young men, they let us reflect, these songs young people have so much unpleasant words.

Your post is so spot on. The other day, I was reading a comment by a young man who had loaded a reaction video and he said he had never heard of the Ohio Players. Another couple didn't know at least 99% of the artists in the We Are the World video. I nearly choked when one of them looked at Diana Ross and asked "who is that?" Unfortunately, the legends are being lost to a lot of the younger generation.
