Funny you should mention that because I’m thinking about the fact that the show was called Soul Train and not long after that show ended soul music ceased to be a genre and they threw it all into r & b and the music industry hasn’t been the same since

Happy Birthday to Eddie Levert, longtime member and co-lead singer of the legendary O'Jays, born June 16th, 1942. On June 16, 2024 he celebrated his 82nd birthday. By any measure, the O'Jays are one of the most important Soul Music groups of all-time. Whether delivering funky dance music, romantic ballads, or thoughtful social commentary in song

Ain't nobody fucking with the O'Jays!. The Whispers come in second... but for ALL TIME R&B groups the O'Jays are just incredible and their discography speaks for itself. Jackson's, Spinners, Whisper, and any I'm forgetting, all great groups, but the O'Jays always killed it with that dynamic duo. I always give props to the producers... Gamble and Huff, Thom Bell, and Linda Creed created an entire GENERATION of top hits.

Our black men have good moves, good voices. They wrote some beautiful sons. All the dads out there teach your sons to keep their culture, they can do wonders, please men be close to your sons, to keep your name and the black DNA. Lots of love, I love these young men, they let us reflect, these songs young people have so much unpleasant words.

Your post is so spot on. The other day, I was reading a comment by a young man who had loaded a reaction video and he said he had never heard of the Ohio Players. Another couple didn't know at least 99% of the artists in the We Are the World video. I nearly choked when one of them looked at Diana Ross and asked "who is that?" Unfortunately, the legends are being lost to a lot of the younger generation.

🗣🗣🗣Those that know, they know! Therefore, it is not necessary for me to say this but once: There is no singing trio or group in the world like the O'Jays!💯 All any group can do is listen, watch, learn, and be inspired, but they can never be duplicated, just imitated. 👋👋👋As great as the group Levert, the sons were who inherited their Father's indelible talent, they still could not match 100% the unique genuineness of Eddie Levert and the O'Jays! The power of their enduring and endearing catalog of real, soulful, quality and substantive music over the many years of dedicated hard work that really touched the souls of Black people is in a class by itself; as they sang the experiences of the people that they arose from (songs such as Stairway to Heaven, Ship Ahoy, Family Reunion, and Cry Together, etc., are unlike any of that commercialized stuff they are putting out today (it just doesn't have the staying power)! I want to hear Music, not Beefs! Many more Blessings, Power & Respect to the O'Jays and their Continued Legacy! Love You, Guys, Always & Forever!💐💕

Who is jamming to this in 2022. These guys are absolutely terrific. Seen them over a dozen times an you always got your money's worth. If you came at their concerts alone you didn't leave there alone. Don't think Eddie's voice is quiet as booming as Marvin Junior but man he is right up there with him. You know its a great video when your eyes start to sweat Abit. May all that loss love one along the way maybe this song can give you a little peace. May all our love ones rest in peace. Thanks you Ojays and Don Cornelius. This sho nuf is a bigon everybody is digon in 2022 and bet your bottom dollar its gonna be a stone gas. We wish you love peace and soul.

Don’t nobody sleep on Walter Williams. His voice is just as beautiful but with a smooth kinda tone that just feels right somehow. His vocals are just the perfect contrast to Eddie’s strong, masculine delivery. I still love my O Jay’s . ❤ You can have these new singers. Most of them can’t really sing.
