Stuck in the rat-race? Why you need a side-hustle NOW

As I look around my community and talk with friends, there's this ever-pervasive underlying sense of scarcity with it comes to money and financial security. We gotta talk about money (and normalize it), but more importantly, I want to share why I believe why your focus shouldn't just be on saving, and why you need a side hustle - why everyone needs a side hustle, even if things are going good. I want to be able to answer the question: how to make more money?

When it comes to personal finance advice, I see a ton about how to cut back, how to save more, how to be more frugal, but the more I open my eyes and the more I talk to people, there's this sense that the cost of living is so high, and the average income is so low that it doesn't matter how much you save, it'll always be like playing catch-up when it comes to money.
And as messed up as it is to hear myself saying it out loud, at the end of the day, it seems like the only solution is to "earn more money". But trouble is, we're already tapped with our full time jobs, and with housing being at an all time high in terms of cost, folks are moving further and further away form their jobs, which extends commute times, and all of this leaves even less time and energy to focus on earning more. But how to earn more money?
Enter: the side hustle. There's a misconception that a side-hustle needs to be all-consuming, or take a lot of money to start, or that every market is so saturated that starting now is pointless since early movers have cornered the market. Side hustles, to me, aren't just a good idea, but a necessary one.
We've seen over the past few years countless people lose their sources of income, a feeling of scarcity sweep the globe, and worst of all, a sense of hopelessness as the default becomes to do nothing because it all seems pointless. Are we actually going to put our full trust in politicians to fix the huge wealth gap that's helping them get elected?
A side hustle doesn't have to be costly - not in time, nor up-front cost, but it does need to be well thought-out and have a plan, and most importantly, action.
