    I love all Schwarzkopf modells, Jet Star 1to 3 without inversion. Looping Star, Teststrecke and Catapult.
    All this modells were traveling through Germanys Fun fairs.
    It has a special feeling, forceful but in the same time elegant to ride a Schwarzkopf Coaster. I miss them.😪

    Wait! You say Test Track is the only one left, but Colossus The Fire Dragon at Lagoon Amusement Park in Utah is a Doppel Looping. I believe it's a little different with an extra spiral at the end, but that would make two Doppel Loopings left, correct? Why does the video say only one is left? BTW Lagoon is an amazing park with a very good wood coaster and all kinds of cool steel, including the awesome Doppel Looping! Lagoon has to be in the most beautiful location of any park half-surrounded by mountains!

      Yes with the additional trackway curve on Colossus that coaster is considered a variation on the original Doppel Looping model. Thankfully several double looping (and more) Schwarzkopf coasters still exist. We hope to visit Lagoon some day soon!

      @@more_bumps_ahead Shock Wave Six Flags TX has always been one of my favorites. The loops are so intense and the airtime is unreal! I rode Drier Looping in Germany in 1985 on the 1st ACE Europe tour & it became my favorite steel coaster. It still is. We had ERT on Drier & ACErs were riding once or twice & taking a break! I rode it 25 times in Germany & can't wait to ride it again soon at Indiana Beach, even though it'll probably have shoulder accordions.

    Doppel Looping and Schwarzkopf in general are my favorite style and manufacturer. Their coasters were absolutely fantastic. Doppel was rough but with only the thin T-style lapbar turbulence weren't an issue like other bumpy coasters with shoulder retraints that make head vibrate like a ping pong ball.
    This is the video that made me subscribe to your channel. Doppel Looping was iconic at the CNE and Miami-Dade Fair. It is one of the most missed, and talked about coasters among people that I grew up with. It was the first real true coaster that some of us rode at 9 years old standing only a half inch above the cut line.
    Me and my friends used to pretend the bar was down and the guy never checked. We always pulled it down midway through the first loop while upside down. It was completely in the up position before that point. If ever we waited for the second loop we would have probably fallen out because there was noticeably less forward train momentum in that loop.
    Conkilin was based in Brantford, not Br**pton.
    Great video, I only discovered it 6 weeks ago and I have watched it 3 times. I truly appreciate the effort into making a Doppel Looping episode.
    This one was in my Top 3 growing up. I probably rode this about 100 times. Usually 8 to 12 times per visit, front and back only and 7 out of 10 times it was the back seat over the front. There were no seat queues so we would let people pass us until we were top in line. There was never a significant wait during weekdays. On busy airshow weekend you might wait 20 or 30 minutes maximum for Doppel Looping.
    I think about this ride every day. I think I am mental. I really miss this coaster. I moved to the Southern USA and was not here when Doppel left and the Alpine Way were removed. I also missed the demolition of the CNE Grandstand which used to be a racetrack and was eventually converted to baseball and became a Stadium. I missed the end of all 3 of these significant changes to the CNE property. I think I also missed the final run of The Flyer because of logistics.
    Doppel Looping lives forever. That ride will never be forgotten. If it isn't rotted by now maybe it can be rescued and shipped back over this way.
    It is depressing to think about a beloved ride from Miami and Toronto, presumed to be disassembled and lost as it decays in neglect overseas while being unappreciated.

      @@more_bumps_ahead Feel free to make any follow up videos about this legend of a coaster if you hapoen to ever dig up any more details on it's whereabouts.
      And I noticed that 2 weeks ago this video was shared by Rob Connelly @ Pounce-Matics Amusematics page which is a great resource guide of past and present amusement parks and rides, with heavy focus on the heyday of Conklin Shows. I think he is Conklin Alumn with a half century of traveling shows scholarship under his belt. It is a great place to read about defunct rides and parks.

    Man when Conklin Shows had The Giant Ferris Wheel, along with like 3 others.. The Wildcat Roller Coaster, And Doppel Looping RC at the South Carolina State Fair.. I feel like that had to be the best fair and none other could come close. On top of that, it always came in October.. ending right after Halloween.. and driving up, the lights would magically appear through Williams Brice Stadium.. which sits right next to the Fairgrounds. Man eversince that Rollercoaster and Conklin dissappeared.. it's still fun.. but it def aint the same.. #memories

    I wouldn't think that the accident in Edmonton was what stopped Schwarzkopf's success in North America. By that time, his company had already gone bankrupt once (which laid the foundation for said accident by the way), and was on the verge of going bankrupt again. He sure was a pioneer when it came to manufacturing thrillrides, but unfortunately his skills as a businessman apparently were not as good. Add some unfortunate events to that and you see why things went the way they went. In fact, Thriller was the very last coaster Schwarzkopf built, which happened to be in the same year. Olympia Looping, despite having a very schwarzkopfesque appearance, was not built by Schwarzkopf, he was only involved as a consultant and it is obviously based on his track and train designs.
    When it comes to Doppel Loopings, don't forget Colossus at Lagoon near Salt Lake City, Utah. Also a former traveling coaster from Germany by the way...

      It is kind of like how Chi-Chi's was on the verge -- and just as it was about to pull out of it's nosedive and level out -- their supplier sent them ecoli or salmonella tainted lettuce.

      Would there be too much weathering by now if it has indeed been sitting disassembled, exposed to the elements?
      It is too bad it couldn't have been set up as a permanent ride in a park in the USA somewhere. What a waste.

    The original Doppel Looping was built in 1982 to PlayCenter Park in São Paulo, Brazil, with just one loop using the name Looping Star to test whether people would react well. After being well received by the public, the second looping was added a year later and became Colossus, where it remained for another 2 years... it was then sold to the USA and became Collosus the Fire Dragon... Here's the announcement of Colossus' farewell to Brazil, the original Doppel Looping... th-cam.com/video/Spv9syomdtQ/w-d-xo.html

      Only difference between those two is the final helix. Colossus has 3 curves compared to Doppel Looping which has 2.

    • @ItsDannyRobbins
      @ItsDannyRobbins ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SunshineStateCoasters The lack of extra helix meant the diving curve to the ground gave an intense rushing sense of speed, and sent the train hauling into the brakes.

    Only since 2008? Wow, feels like it's been gone a lot longer than that. I remember being terrified of it when I was a kid when I went to the CNE, I did ride it at least once though.

    • @andrewsmythe6855
      @andrewsmythe6855 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Conklin may have still owned it until 2008, but I don’t remember it making an appearance at the CNE later than 1999 or so.
      It certainly wasn’t there in 2008.
      I recall reading somewhere that Conklin was facing financial troubles by that period and had to be selective as to where they took it.

    • @junkbox_
      @junkbox_ ปีที่แล้ว

      Logistically Doppel Looping was no longer feasable. I forget how many flatbed trucks it required to move, but I know that transporting it was a major factor at the end of it's Conklin schedule.
