Well, they showed several different Hornet coupes and sedans. I guess they didn't show Jay's Hornet pickup because Hudson never MADE a Hornet pickup! The last Hudson pickup left the line in 1947.
@@corvairjim1I believe Hudson probably saw the future in the cards back in 1946 right after the war that pickup trucks were not in their favor because General Motors Ford and Dodge and Studebaker or making pickup trucks even International was making more pickup trucks in Hudson I believe could not compete in making such Vehicles like that after 1947.
The Hudson pickup was such a small part of Hudson production that the design was not transferred to the 1948-54 "step-down" generation. However, there were a number of Hudson dealers who adapted the step-down body (usually that of a four-door sedan) into a home-built pickup for dealer use
Joke Time -- A Man, His Wife, And a Truck A man went to the police station to report that his wife was missing. Husband: "My wife is missing. She went shopping yesterday & hasn't come home." Officer: "What is her height?" Husband: "Gee, I'm not sure. Maybe a little over 5 feet tall." Officer: "Weight?" Husband: "Don't know. Not slim; not really fat." Officer: "Color of eyes?" Husband: "Never really noticed." Officer: "Color of hair?" Husband: "Changes a couple of times a year. Maybe Brown." Officer: "What was she wearing?" Husband: "Could have been shorts. Maybe a skirt. I don't remember exactly." Officer: "What kind of car did she leave in?" Husband: "She left in my truck." Officer: "What kind of truck was it?" Husband: "Brand new Ford F-150 King Ranch 4X4 with Ecoboost 5.0 Liter V8 with special-order manual transmission. It has a custom matching white cover for the bed. Custom leather seats & floor mats. Trailer Package with Gold Hitch. DVD with Navigation. 21-channel CB radio, six cup holders & 4 power outlets. Custom wheels with Off-Road Michelin Tires. Wife put a small scratch on the door." At this point, the husband started choking up. Officer: "Don't worry, buddy. We'll find your truck."
I saw Jay's Corvair Rampside pickup in person when he drove it to Bob's Big Boy in Burbank. It is beautiful. I especially like the wood inlay in the truck bed area.
The Mercedes Transport Vehicle is a reproduction, the original was crushed. There is a reproduction in Stuttgart. 14:48 This information is readily available.
I never saw a Corvair pickup with a 4 speed transmission - only 3 speeds. I learned to drive in a blue&white Corvair 95 pickup. It was a really fun vehicle!
Here are the facts on Corvair 95 transmissions: A 3-speed manual (with a non-synchronized first gear) came standard. For $180 extra, you could have either a 4-speed manual with a very short first gear (a "granny gear"), or a 2-speed Powerglide automatic. There was never a 3-speed automatic offered in any Corvair, passenger car, or 95-series pickup or van.
I believe if one ever driven a c95 Corvair pickup truck or the Corvair van had one distinct advantage over the Ford Econoline pickup at that time around 1960 61 was when you hit the brakes the Ford Econoline van or pickup truck in this case without a load the back wheels with automatically lift off the ground which was dangerous compared to driving a rear engine Corvair c95 pickup which the weight was equally distributed which the rear wheels on the Corvair would never lift off the ground when brakes are applied suddenly.
@@garyquail4996 Ford did put a counterweight under the pickup box during 1961 production to reduce that "nose-dive" tendency. Chevrolet even produced a film demonstrating that tendency as a sales point in favor of the Corvair 95
The Corvair Rampside is extra cool, but what about the Corvair AGL-4, are you even aware of it, this was the only factory Corvair with the engine in the front!
The Hornet six was the largest six-cylinder automotive engine offered in the U.S. from 1951 through 1956. The eight-cylinder models during the 1951-53 period were the Super 8 and the Commodore 8, both of which were dropped during 1953. Hornets got their claim to fame from the Twin-H-Power package and their lower center of gravity, compared to other contemporary cars. The Hudson Hornet was still winning races as late as 1955, the year after the Hudson was moved to the Nash body in the American Motors merger
No pictures with the Chevy 3100 pickup. As far as I know he doesn't have one, I maybe mistaken. But they never showed him in or around one. Also I agree where's the Hudson Hornet pickup.
The 4-cylinder Mercedes-Benz engine shown in the race car transporter replica looked an awful lot like a fuel-injected Chevy 283 small block V-8 mounted in a '57 Chevy to me!
They won't ban them, they'll just charge you additional fees and taxes cause deep down much like the homeless they give zero fucks about supposed problems.
How is a 1951 Hudson Hornet considered to be a pickup truck? Is the trunk lid removable for hauling? Time to wake the hell up, Mister...............................
Too many random photos unrelated to the specific vehicles in the subject.
That Hudson pickup was indeed weird. It looked just like a car.
True stealth!
😁
Yeah WTF happened to the Hudson pickup?? I must’ve missed it!!😆😂🤣

Why no pics of the Hudson pickup?
I think somebody got confused. 😂
Apparently, there weren't any on the web so he tossed in what he could find, which was passenger cars only
@@vanpenguin22.... it was there! It was shown with the Dodge Power Wagon option.

Thats why everyone loves Jay's collection
I thoroughly enjoy my 1964 Ford F250.
Available for the Corvair 95 Rampside pickup was a drop-in camper with a full size door wher the ramp was.
Rare but available
The last Harley-Davidson F-150 had a detuned supercharged 5.4 liter V8(340hp vs 380hp in the SVT Lightning). This truck was impressive.
He probably keeps $20k in the glove box just in case he comes across something he sees on the side of the road.

The Cyclone was just a S(10). Clone,,no big deal,,those early 1960's Chevrolet Ford and Dodge van/pickups are great innovations
Charg we admission for tours so he can be a museum! They'll never move them all. Noplace to go!
