      @@jack_edwards ROMEO AND JULIET (RECOMPOSED)
      by Jason Rudge
      THE PROLOGUE
      The CHORUS enters.
Our scene is set in an enticing city
Where two rival households swap stinging scars,
Uglifying the air two teens make pretty
When true love blows their hearts across the stars,…
Which rouse a prickly sun imparting heat
To twisting blades that twist the plot on stage
For the benefit of worms seeking meat
From fools who rashly court despair and rage.
Youth can make fools of all the greatest lovers,
But sometimes outside forces play a part
And in this tale a foolish youth discovers
His love can’t keep old hatreds from his heart-
Nor halt hearts taking trips to heaven’s gate,
Which fast becomes the lovers’ tragic fate.
      The CHORUS exits.

You got this !!! 💪also a little tip, when you're in a hardcore reading slump, try changing up the genres of books. Graphic novel , collection of essays or poetry books are the way I do it. I can finish them faster and they make me fall in love with reading again

    • @Jessica-wt2sm
      @Jessica-wt2sm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

Good luck, you got this!! I went from years of barely reading to finishing over twenty books in 2020. Find books and genres that you're genuinely interested and don't worry too much about what's popular or what everyone else is reading. Pro-tip is to also check out audiobooks!! It took me awhile to get into but was a game changer when I finally did. If you're in the US, most libraries will give you free access to Libby (kind of like a Spotify for audiobooks).

Jack, I had a really bad experience with the sponsor you are promoting - University of the People.
I tried to request more general information using their general enquiry form, and then they tried to charge me £60 for a "processing fee" at the end, even though I wasn't enrolling in their university, just asking for information! They then kept emailing me talking about my "application" and saying I had been assigned an academic advisor??
I have asked them 3 times to stop contacting me but they won't and keep sending emails like with the subject "Reconsider your decision". The phrasing of their messages was really shady and cold-calling business like and really didn't sit well with me. I've still not gotten confirmation they have cancelled this supposed "application".
Cruciallly, their degrees are also NOT recognised in the UK, if you read deep in their terms and conditions it says, which considering you're from the UK and a lot of your viewers are I feel is irresponsible of you not to mention that.

I read the song of Achillies in the first week of this year! As in last week and my heart still hurts :( but ohhh myyyy goddddd what a read! I saw it well everywhere but finally picked up after your recommendation and all I want to say is THANK YOU!!!!!! Also, read The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo a week prior to the song of Achillies (also after your recommendation) so that was my last book of 2021 and now I can't stop praising these books and recommending them to everyone I know! I love your recommendations pls never stop! All the love from India! :)

Thank you so much for mentioning Loveless! I can't put into words just how much that book changed my life, loveless was really my first exposure to what it can mean to be aroace and seeing someone like myself on paper for the very first time helped me to feel like I wasn't alone or broken. I couldn't stop beaming just seeing you talk about it on your platform. It makes me incredibly happy knowing there are people like you who care enough to actually make an effort to understand us instead of just being dismissive which saddly still happens more often then not. It would mean the world to me if more people could to learn about aroace with a more in depth review of the book some time in the future even if it was only short or part of a queen book compilation video :)
(Remembering that being aromantic and/or asexual is a spectrum and one person's experience is not the default experience for everyone who also identifies the same way)

Jack, I saw you read "I Have More Souls Than One" by Fernando Pessoa. He's a portuguese poet who wrote under hundreds of literary personas (heteronyms). He invented lives for all of the personas he created, made birth charts for each of them and each had a different way of writing and explored different themes. A lot of my favorite poems ever are written by him and I actually believe he is one of the best poets to ever exist. I recommend "The Book of Disquiet" by one of his heteronyms, Bernando Soares. It is an unedited fagmentary selection which he called a "factless autobiography".
