Thank you for including The Way of Edan in your reading plans, Andrew! Allen did an astounding job with the narration, in my opinion, and I hope you’ll enjoy the journey!
I’m a simple man…. I see Malazan… I click. And yes midnight tides has a familiar character but it’s so dang good. Was pleasantly surprised by it. The standard is so dang high with that series Runelords honestly sounds damn awesome amongst the others Janny’s books have me so intrigued once I’m done with Malazan. I think I’m gonna do to ride hells chasm sooooonish Edan is sick. Nuff said. I have to get to Ken Liu as well. Those editions are unreal
Omg yeeees I am so excited for you and Tori to read The Risen Kingdoms, I absolutely adore that series!! And I am in the same boat as you with The Last War trilogy, need to get back to it! Also can't wait for you to do Way of Edan on audio, Allen roooocked that. Happy reading :)))
YES!!! Alchemy of masque and mirrors is FANTASTIC 🥳 I would totally reread it if you do a buddy read. And there was someone else on my channel who wanted to read it too, so I’d invite them to your buddy read as well 🤣 And no worries on the ringsworn trilogy. I soft DNF’d book 2 and might pick it up later again. Maybe we’ll try it again with the buddy read 🤣
Malazan is looking more like a 2026 series for me as I've moved in Janny Wurts's books ahead of it. Series I'm prioritizing (I actually made a list of these a little bit ago since I'm bad at completing series), in a loose order: The wrap ups: Suneater (trying to wrap up this year, but may bleed into early next year) Stone and Sky Elmerian First Law Red Rising Dune Want to start: The Wars of Light and Shadow Wistful Ascending Edan Lock Lamore
YES!!! Somehow missed that you’re doing Runelords, but that’s AWESOME!!! Also, seems like you’re doing buddy reads with everyone else next year… maybe I should find one to do with you too. 😅 -T
2025 priorities include Hyperion (Simmons) Babel (Bancroft) and The Lives of the Mayfair Witches (Rice). Ken Liu is also part of my TBR. Happy reading.
I am joining the Talking Story read along too in January with the Curse of the Mistwraith. I got the audiobook because when I tried to read it with my eyes it just was way too difficult. The real priority to me is John’s Malazan read along, I downloaded the first 3 on audio when there was a sale.
«Edan» & «Dandelion Dynasty»! 😎🙌 I do want to get to «The Last War» Trilogy, hopefully not far into the future! Continued series on my High Priority TBR List for 2025: «Doom of Destiny» (Sundered Nation #3) by Vaughn Roycroft (Epic/Historical Fantasy) «Book of Ash» by Mary Gentle (Alt-Historical Military Fiction inspired by the Mercenary Wars of the Renaissance) The «Sun Eater» series by Christopher Ruocchio (Space opera) «The Nightingale & The Falcon» series by Stephen Aryan (Historical Fantasy inspired by the Mongol Conquest of Persia) The «Boudicca» Series by Manda Scott (Historical Fiction, about the famous Celtic Queen and her rebellion seeking revenge on the Romans) The «Gael Song» series by Shauna Lawless (Historical Fantasy set during the Viking Invasions of Ireland) The «Women of Troy» Series by Pat Barker (Retelling of the Iliad from the perspective of Achilles’ «War Bride» Briseis) My 2025 (and beyond) High Priority TBR Starting List as of now: The «Arthurian Tales» Trilogy by Giles Kristian (Arthurian Historical Fiction) The «Aspect-Emperor» series by R. Scott Bakker (Grimdark/Dark Epic Fantasy inspired by the Crusades, Silmarillion, Blood Meridian & Dune) «The Last King of Osten Ard» series (plus the standalone prequels) by Tad Williams (Epic Fantasy, sequel to the «Memory, Sorrow & Thorn» Trilogy) The «Three Kingdoms Chronicles» Series by Baptiste Pinson Wu (Historical Military Fiction based on the Chinese Historical Epic Romance of the Three Kingdoms) «Hanuvar» series by Howard Andrew Jones (Heroic Fantasy/S&S, inspired by Hannibal Barca) The «Arthurian Saga» by Mary Stewart (Arthurian Fantasy) The «Reborn Empire» Series by Devin Madson (Epic/Dark Fantasy) The «Wolf Den» Trilogy by Elodie Harper (Historical Fiction set in Roman Pompeii)
Most of my priority series (as series, not just reading the latest as they come out) is reading books I missed in series I started long ago. This entails quite a bit of rereading in many cases: * Deryni, Katherine Kurtz * Midkemia, Raymond Feist * Starfire, David Weber & Steve White * Honorverse, David Weber (et al.) I also want to do straight rereads of a couple of series: * Dresden Files. Jim Butcher * Garrett, P.I., Glen Cook
My top 10 series for 2025: 1) Stormlight Archive (should finish Oathbringer this year) 2) Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn (hoping to start Stone of Farewell before the year ends) 3) Realm of the Elderlings (Assassin’s Apprentice is the only one I’ve read, and it was amazing) 4) Sun Eater (just got my Broken Binding editions, never read anything in the series) 5) Malazan (should start in January) 6) Bound and the Broken 7) Faithful and the Fallen 8) First Law 9) Riftwar Saga 10) Five Warrior Angels Hard to leave off a few series, like Green Bone Saga, Dandelion Dynasty, and some others.
Those are some good picks! I'm reading Curse of the Mistwraith at the moment and regretting not doing so sooner, you're in for an interesting time with it!
Oooooh... this is a fantastic list!!! I, too, am planning to read The Way of Edan series by Dr. Philip Chase and Malazan by Steven Erikson!!!!! 🎉 I would also like to get into N. K. Jemison's Broken Earth trilogy; Lloyd Alexander's The Chronicles of Prydain; and, if I am able to... The Dark Tower series by Stephen King!?!?! All lofty goals, so we shall see!?! Thank you, as ever, for your delightful content: Be healthy, be comfy, laugh, smile, have a BLAST and until next time, spectacular Mr. Andrew!!!!! 🤩🪅😌
The Risen Kingdoms - let me know what you think. When I think of it, I stick it with The Spokane Clock Tower series … in feel? 🤷🏼♀️ The Last War - Peri (Doctor Who companion) narrates. I think. Curse of the Mistwraith, Malazan, Grace of Kings … I’d join a buddy read. I bought the Way of Edan because Zeus narrates.
@@AndrewsWizardlyReads I'll start with something from an old friend. Los Nefilim, which is three novellas collected into one book, then she has a full trilogy that comes after that. T. Frohock. Dark Historical Fantasy. Then for some lighter SF, try my series.
