This watch gets laughed at now, but it only takes one posting on the internet to make it the hottest thing ever. I'll hold out for more dial color variations, but what I saw in person in LV was nothing short of spectacular creativity. Chopard for the win. Alex, you are on one!

Absolutely true. Every review I’ve seen on the Alpine Eagle says it’s a stunning timepiece for the price. Hard to believe how it continues to fly under the radar, but I feel like it’s only a matter of time before the secret gets out. I wouldn’t be surprised if supply tightened and caused prices to climb like they did with the GP Laureato.

Very nice addition to the line up, thrown in a tourbillon yet slimming down, I can imagine it will wear very nicely on wrist.
People should drop by the Chopard boutique and see the Alpine Eagle in metal, it's a level above those steel sport watches at around 10000USD mark, quite hefty, very nicely polished at every corners you can see/touch, and the dial is mesmerizing. A fine piece of jewelry

Just think. You can have the Chronograph for a fraction of the price of the street price of a Daytona and have a watch far better made with a much better movement and availibe to buy! A few months ago I was at Wempe in Vienna and they had the blue dial version on display and for sale, not demonstration like all the Rolex models across the street or down the stree at Bucherer which were all demo models.
Today all the internet will talk about are what Rolex release today but we all know none are going to be availible outside the grey market.
Rolex could do much to stop this. Issue warranties only to the first owner or do what Omega are slowly doing and only sell from official boutiques to avoid dealer corruption but I doubt they will do that, their only answer is to raise prices!

Well said. So many people in this hobby buy into the hype of certain watches/brands and fail to realize how many other incredible options are out that are superior in quality and offer a far better value proposition.

If this LUC caliber had been used in the first launch of Alpine Eagle 3 hands version… it would have been perfect and put themselves on the same table of AP RO and VC Overseas…

@@WatchAdvisor To be honest, Alex, I don’t know where now this watch will be positioned and targeted to. I mean we know this flying tourbillion movement is designed integrated from their legendary, thin, micro-rotor caliber LUC 1.96. I actually was hoping LUC 1.96 caliber would be initially used in their 3-hands Alpine Eagle watch when they were first launched in 2019. If they had been used LUC 1.96 caliber along with this unique dial, A223 steel, beautiful bracelet plus the design inherited from St. Moritz in 3-hands models… it will be highly collectible and competitive in today’s watch industry.

@@WatchAdvisor I'd agree with this comment. Right now, I'd say the AE competes with Piaget Polo, GP Laureato any maybe Bulgari Octo Finissimo. The Alpine Eagle has a lot better case and dial finish than these competitors, and the movement is on par with Piaget and GP, but the Bulgari is actually quite a bit more interesting of course. If Chopard would have put one of the LUC 96 series calibres in there, they would have been able to make a watch that is thinner than the Nautilus, with a similar build quality and a movement that is probably more interesting than that in the Nautilus. Movement finishing of the Patek would probably still be better, but nonetheless, it would be a straight-on competitor. But I'm thinking that Chopard has planned that for an Alpine Eagle Mark 2, at prices that are comparable to an Overseas.

I really like this style watch and in all three versions. What is really nice is that Chopard have chosen not to employ the gaudy look of gold for the case. Steel is still one of the most beautiful materials for watch cases and in this case gives the appearance of understated elegance. Now all I have to do is sell the wife, car and house to buy one(just kidding). Great video.❤️🙏

I like the brand Chopard. However, I this this model line is overpriced in comparison to its competitors. I would guess that the chronograph is probably too big for most people and I think the tourbillion is the watch no one asked for. A cool novelty. But, not a great place to put your money, in my opinion. I think if they priced the Alpine three hand model similar to the price of the new Zenith Defy, they would gain a lot more momentum. Just my thoughts.

    • @WatchAdvisor

The way Chopard manufactures its Alpine Eagle is on another level than Zenith… it is Haute Horlogerie versus refined luxury…

@@WatchAdvisor I understand what you are saying. But, I don’t think the general watch buying public views the Alpine as superior to a Zenith, IWC, or even a JLC. Take for example the JLC Polaris Chronograph. It is priced lower than the Alpine three hand. Would we say that JLC isn’t Haute Horlogerie?

@@WatchAdvisor Alexander, I don’t think that is an accurate statement. I am well aware of Chopard and the quality they provide. Especially their L.U.C. line. We are having a discussion about the public lbrand and where they fit in the marketplace. In my personal opinion, I think the Alpine three hand watch is overpriced. You didn’t answer whether you think JLC is high horology? On a separate note, I don’t see the need for the insult. I enjoy your channel. I respect your opinion. I look forward to your take on all things watches. But, I didn’t think that was necessary.

@@barrylattuca5352 Maybe something a bit lost in translation there from WA (I'd hope), but I think the pricing is about right. It's similar price to the GP Laureato 3 hander on bracelet and i would say that technically the Chopard is superior. The JLC Polaris Chronograph is a nice watch (and I have owned one before in blue), but if you look into the chronograph movement for the Chopard you will notice that it actually has quite a lot of technical prowess including (I think) 4 patents pending for new technologies. JLC make amazing movements, sure, but their case finishing tends to be a bit mundane on the lower end models as well as having rather generic and boring dials.
