people, this is how English sounds to us non English speakers....Good analysis ciao
Huh weird
I agree 😂
My non-english speaking friends would agree to you
Grazie

Well then English speakers sound like they're insane. I feel like I'm on a drug trip trying to talk to the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland. Everything seems to come out like nonsense.
There should be more songs in complete gibberish. Especially ones that slap like this one.
here's one that has gibberish:

Almost all rap isn't understandable and the music sucks.

😂😂😂😂 Hilarious! I am Italian but know some English and your “translation” is just brilliant! This shows how my dad’s generation, who didn’t know English but still enjoyed American music, would only “imitate” the sounds they heard, without knowing the language. My dad, who played in a band in the Seventies, still laughs at it! And as you also said, Celentano had a provocative intent when writing the song. Thank you, very interesting!
Iʻm laughing now imagining what might have happened if this song made it to the US back then. The FBI probably would have wound up investigating it like ʻLouie Louieʻ.

A lyrical masterpiece, it truly touched the deepest part of my soul. The most influential line for me personally is "poke something". It really made me take a step back and reevaluate myself.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
It reminded me of myself between 19 and about 32. Though sexual active between 16 and now 40, those 13 years this one line was my life. "Poke something!"
EYES.
EYES!! ALRIGHT???!?!?!?!
I truly believe it would lead to world peace. Or lead the world to pieces.... Actually, I love this.
Never knew this dude could sing in enchanting table

Whenever you have one of "those" dreams and you can't figure out what it means, come to this song and just let it do the work for you. Great job with the lyrics, Elika!

Dirty badass groove this song has... the song was way ahead of its time - it really doesn't sound like something from the 70's. The initial analysis is spot on really, he was trying to sound like how Bob Dylan and other similar artists of the time sounded to him. He has said in the past it's about "universal love". I feel if we all transcribed how the gobbledegook lyrics sound like to us - we'd all come out with something wildly different, there are some pretty funny ones out there. Everyone should hear this song.
A lot of Euro late 60s/70s music sounds like this.
Look up french yeye for more clarification
It sounds exactly like something from the 70's, how do you figure that it's ahead of its time?
@@FlaxeMusic To me it doesn't sound anything like any other 70's music I know of, especially 72 when this was from. If you think it does then fair play to you, but to me it doesn't.
"dirty badass groove" it's definitely "kinky" sounding.
this feels like the video representation of my subconscious trying to consume new media
That is exactly what it is. What it want to be, and the theory on which it's based (semi conscious phonics)...
You’re a brilliant interpreter with great insight. The first time I heard this song I fell in love with it because the lyrics are so baroque and alien (like me). It took several days for me to puzzle out enunciation of the very title, having researched the history of the song and the artist. Learning the lyrics was a nonstarter until now. Thank you so much Elika!

I'm American but I just wanted to quickly confirm that you nailed it. 100% if your translation is correct. Well done.
Haha, you sound like a fool. There's no "translation" because the singer literally just wrote gibberish that he thought sounded English. The actual lyrics are 0% like the ones on screen
This man is a visionary of trolling. Like he put effort into the song and the dance. He deserved the success.
I live near a colour shop and the owner did die. I think you’re onto something here. Marvellous work - keep going.
That iconic harmonica solo is just devastating!
5 stars. I love this song, glad someone else is as nuts about it!
Your interpretation is brilliant. It frames this song in a unique way that gives meaning to gibberish. Poke something? Awesome!

although it’s gibrish, your translation is pretty good. he reallysounds like he’s singing to the subtitles.

Have you seen the black and white dancing video they also made of this song? The "marching discotheque" vibe of that one really brings that slightly terrifying feeling you mentioned to the forefront.
I want to go around using "Eyes." as a self-contained statement now because of this song.
i have many times yes!! youre so right, the black and white one is much more unsettling. something about the lipsyncing feels so off too haha. also you should totally use "eyes" - some friends and i have adopted it as a self-contained statement and its sooo good. we also like to swap out similar words (like "eggs") but said in the same way as "eyes" and it really works for us haha
@@lander-landed Iʻve also been practicing that magnificently extended tongue roll for certain occasions.
The thing I like about the black and white video (which was how I first heard this song) is the dancing is *so* stiff, so choreographed to within an inch of its life, but everyone on screen is throwing absolutely EVERYTHING they have into that performance. That thing she does with her arms after her solo, in particular.
If I had not known the age of this video, my first instinct would have been to consider it a commentary on the quality of education in the US currently. He would not be so terribly out of place here talking to students that way, especially in Texas.
Remember the “Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Mushroom Mushroom” dance? 🦡
@@hevoskuiskaaja2008 weebl's stuff!
I think your narrative is totally plausible! I think that's probably the thing that makes us most human: finding meaning and creating a story to understand something. Plus this is kind of how I pretended I could speak Spanish when I was 3, living in Arizona with lots of Spanish around us but none in our home. Good job!
Well put:)
You can't seriously tell me you went that deep into this, it was seriously entertaining to see those lyrics.
A colour boss works at a paint shop.
When the colour doesn't match the exact shade requested, the colour boss fires the one responsible for the abomination.
Everyone knows what a colour boss is, geez.
i wasn't really ready for this answer. xD
🤣
This is brilliant, the dancing is just as ridiculous as the lyrics!😀
exactly his aptitude toward life as artist was just to be as such as one can see and observe, he was quite original on doing that, he is an artist...
Constantly playing in the back of my brain too. Hand motions and all.
Great analysis 👍 👏 👌 🙌
I Think the song is supposed to be analyzed just like this by everyone interested enough to do it. Really great video.
I've been obsessing over this song lately and just found this video. Thanks so much!

Great translation and interpretation! I’m a 59yo Italian living in AU for the last 30 years and remember this video with great fondness, very catchy tune. I’d like to add that Celentano is a very unusual but very likeable character and a very accomplished actor having made a few Italian movies most of them comedy.
I can't get this song out of my head either. It's ridiculous
Thank you for this video, yet since it first came out ,I wondered, after a While I just LOVE listening to all of it, and your video, is great.

Freezin’ cold
An asinine chew zone
Your the cold man
It’s the same one
Freezin’ cold
An asinine chew zone
Alright
With the sandy shoes
Now I’ll hold Billy Zane
Then a whore read, maybe
Get the colour boss dyed
Birrrrrd
Chickens in my head
We get a colour word baby
Sustain
Yeah I bit your woe
With the sandy shoes
And I’ll hold Billy Zane
Then a whore read, maybe
Get the colour boss dyed
When it’s the same man
Feel the country esteem
You never chum the number
Jersey gonna be with the jam
You da’ comin’ up
Juice knob right
For not to show the hobo
Hobo just get along the cover
No time
All the differences stand
Like the shoes of cobra man
You’ve a coast tuna mine
It’s called
Dove rain the girls
Oak some day
Eye eye
Smile says lake
Then you get some
going peas though
Eyes
You the cold man
It’s the same one
Freezin’ cold
An asinine chew zone
Alright
Eye eye
Is mine
Sense lake
Any go
So go with pay zone
Eyes
Freezin’ cold
An asinine chew zone
Alright
What else
You don’t sleep
And Annie
gimme the scene
To land a juicy gnaw w/ door
For all honey contained
Let phrase it go
We be seein’ in the stand
Let the shoes in
Come a band
This is two hundred cars
And love a form
What a glide sustained
Eye eye
Spy a chance lad
Ain’t a hill sub going freezer
Eye
You’d a call a man and say one
Freezin’ cold and
Asinine chew some
Alright
You dust you know
I’m feelin’ zeke
You got ‘em
And dole
Yes baby
Avast you lad
I’m deep in y’all
Eye eye
Smile says lake
And you girl some
Throwing pizza
Eyes
You can call a man
A same one
Freezin’ cold and
Asinine chew soul
Alright
You dust you know
I’m feelin’ zeke
You got ‘em
And dole
Yes baby
Avast you lad
I’m deep in y’all

Amazing how this song that basically says nothing is still better than 99% of modern music and with more meaning. What a weird world.
Brill. Yent. Amazing work. The video just got better, which I didn't think could happen.

This is epic thanks for making this video!
Excellent! This makes so much sense.
Just found this song. Dude has some moves. Catchy as hell for being gibberish.
ah I never watched further than the first bit and now I finally did. Haha Ella. I couldn't agree more with the "love him, but he also scares me" bit. And oh my his wife is so cool. I legit realized about ten minutes before you said it, that it was her.
As an American who speaks only english, this song hurts my head, makes me happy, and makes me think at the same time.
You have a beautiful mind. All songs are layered (any worth listening to or talking about that is) and have multiple meanings yet underpinning all communication vibrationally is intent. I feel there is as well a very cohesive thread to this song aside from it being known to be complete gibberish. Love that harmonica solo at the end.
I like your translation, a clever work of sort-of retconning!
Ok. You did an amazing job. Lol. I love it. Hahaha. This guy is such a character. Thank you for this.

The craziest thing is the translation.😊 I had never ever.thought anout checking the lyrics and giving them a meaning knowing they were just gibberish more or less to state a point but you checked and analyzed them and found a story so bravo😊 (or in italian bravA)....
Also did you notice his arm mooves in perfect "pre-Tony Manero" style...

That was hillarious lyrics. Haha good translation. Hope we could understand that. What a genius performance. The legend, the myth.
I can promise you I've never heard anything like this...
I created a phonic listening language. Which begins here and either deciphers the phonic linguistic code,(and this one does have one), or it stays here and simply rocks the unknown... Which is fine also.

This was an awesome analysis (yes, I went looking for one)! I have to say that I'm in the US and I heard the song for the first time on the American FX TV series Trust. I did feel like the song was in Italian bc I couldn't discern the English. Very clever ear trickery 😂. The video was icing on the cake.
pppffaahhhhhh hahahah this is hillarious. I love the english translation
This is the funniest ‘translation’ I have ever seen of any gibberish song. I’ve heard of lipsync but you have invented lyric-sync. Brilliant! Well Done!
This has got to be one of my favorite 'story behind the song' of all time.
making a video explaining how you interpret the lyrics you translated from gibberish to English is technically a hobby. I accept and respect that.
You did a great job. Very catchy tune.
LOVE IT!
Fun fact. Italian singer Adriano Celentano released this song (with nonsense lyrics meant to sound like American English) to prove a point: Italians would like any English song.
It was a hit.
