Just imagine a kid getting this game for his SEGA Genesis. Then, when he goes to his friends house, who owns an SNES, he realizes his whole childhood was fake, so he never touches video games again.

@@robertanderson9447 Well, first I played the originale on the Super Nintendo of a friend and then when I saw this came out for the Genesis, I ran to buy it, but It wasn't what I expected.
The game is all right, but It was a bit dissapointing. Especially because I played the Family Game's version a year before and It was a lot more like the original DKC.

@@robertanderson9447 Well, the sprites were very similar and the music was good, despite not being the same as in DKC. It's a good game (or decent at least), but the fact that It wasn't DKC on Snes was a bit dissapointing.

I was the poor kid that had this game when I was 10 years old. I never beat the game since reaching King K rool was very difficult on that last level and I could never dodge that crown toss. Now I know that the hitbox was so wrong. Anyway, part of my childhood playing DK99 pretty sure made me develop skills in videogames with those perfect jumps

This video is great. Your suffering provided enough entertainment to help me through a rough night. And I must point out another piece of the bad design puzzle, the bananas. Usually games will place the bananas/coins/rings etc in a way that they guide the player toward certain things, like recommended paths or areas to fall when you can't see what's below you. This game places bananas in spots where trying to get them will kill you. Two times in this video they were over a pit that you couldn't see. That is asshole design.

Finally! I took many months waiting to happened and nice video.
Fun fact: most songs are songs from DKC1, with the back instrument being louder than it should.
Most of the enemies screech like they're getting burned to death just by being in this bootleg!

Oh my... I had the luck to own this game in my childhood. As far as I remember, I've managed to complete only the first two worlds. It is still not 100% confirmed that the game was made by Gamtec developers exactly or rather by some other bootleg developers just using Gamtec's SDK. Why am I mentioning this is just because I don't want to believe that Gamtec really made this incompetent thing. Remembering playing Squirrel King with my father back in those times (which was really a quite enjoyable and fun experience despite the game was not perfect but still well programmed IMHO) and comparing it to this... I am completely confused. HOW? HOW COULD IT BE FOR THEM TO RELEASE SUCH A CRAPPY PRODUCT? I don't even say anything about the music/sound choices and controls - as a kid I considered them to be ok as I didn't have a chance to play the SNES originals. The whole thing is in the game mechanics... Just horrible.
Thanks for your efforts in beating this, as it seems a truly hardcore challenge.
This game has a lot of programming errors with the hit detection which is why you always die when dealing the last hit to the world 2 & 4 boss and why K.Rool's crown only hits you if you jump.

I remember trying to beat this game a few months ago and only got to the first factory level.
I guess it was a good thing I stopped playing when I did.
Fun fact, the tune that plays on the 2nd world is supposed to be the Mario 1 underwater theme but the devs are so incompetent that they made the lead instrument extremely quiet and the counter melody very loud, so it's completely butchered and sounds nothing like what it's supposed to be. The 3rd world tune is supposed to be Life in the Mines from DKC1, but again, it's so butchered it's unrecognisable, sounds like they transcribed that one by ear instead of using a MIDI or something.
I feel sorry for you that you had to experience this game. I played this game once. It was not fun to say the least.

The banana bunches don't seem to have a consistent number at all when added to your banana count.
In the actual DKC/DKL games, a banana bunch gives you 10 bananas...but in this bootleg, the banana bunches seem to be random values

They're all DKC bosses, they're just in the wrong place. The problem is that Very and Really Gnawty act exactly the same.

Yeah. Good thing most bootleg companies went out of business because Nintendo and SEGA sued them for using their IPs for selfish monetary gain.
Do you have ANY evidence for that claim? Most of these companies were in countries where the legal system wouldn't work in their favor. Mega Drive bootlegs were still made until fairly recently and the Famicom scene only started to die in the mid-2000s because it evolved into the plug n play scene.

Man, i recently play the original trilogy on the SNES and the first game on the GBA and beat all those games in every way and this game looks so very much awful to play. I love the Genesis/Megadrive but this is a disgrace for this console and for the franchise.

Bootleggers tend to do that. They take random assets from a popular game and name it something ridiculous like "Super Mario World 64" or Sonic 3D Blast 5" which is just a random game title with a number you wouldn't think it'd have because the other preceding ones don't exist. Like "Super Donkey Kong 99" was made in 1999, but Donkey Kong 64 came out by then and was massively popular, so of course this sucks.
