I like the option to click on chart and change data or specify data. Is there a solution to: graphical interface of counts, various status based on underlying data, EG delivered, not delivered. Is there a way to click on the count box and have BI return the records that account for that particular box? Further, I show 16 delivered in an area (slicer), funded by (another slicer), can I click on that box that would show 16 and retrieve data, most likely desired to get into Excel
Hi Phil, if someone(fresh graduate) is planning to enter into BI job market. is Power BI alone sufficient to crack the job? as i see Power BI is only SSRS and doesnt cover SSIS,SSAS.
PowerBI does cover SSIS and a bit SSAS. Watch some lectures of Chris Webb he is PowerQuery god! Also PowerQuery is the Data Cleansing/Munging manipulation language used for the ETL process within PowerBI and Excel
Hi there, Power BI is fantastic and covers both SSIS and SSAS for small to medium size models. However if you are looking to get into Enterprise BI, I'd recommend learning SSAS and SSIS well. You can still use Power BI as the for larger models.
I really like the tip about slicing the measures. I tested it out and got it to work, but it still doesn't solve my business case. I have a dashboard with a visualization that has two measures, Year to Date sales TY and LY. I have a separate visualization with two additional measures, Trailing 12 Months sales TY and LY. 4 separate measures total. I want the measures slicer to simply switch between Year to Date and Trailing 12 Months and consolidate to a single visualization. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Phil Seamark Hi Phil! Could you please send me the link where I can download the files you used in your presentation? Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial video.
Hi, Thank you for very useful tips. By any chance, does anyone know if he puts the presentation's files (the Power BI 's files: unichar table, Power BI Desktop and so on) somewhere so we can download? And if it is possible, in further stream, I would like to know more about: How to use SQL Profiler to optimize the DAX model? Have a nice day guys, It's very helpful your tips!
Everyone who is looking for the demo files - I googled and found the onedrive link Philip had shared on one of the meetup. www.meetup.com/Seattle-Modern-Excel-Users-Group-MEUG/events/238757827/ Direct file download: onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21ABm5FbmfAzJZog0&id=BEB6A7DE6A0BE5D0%212123&cid=BEB6A7DE6A0BE5D0
I've been using SQL Server since the very late 90's and have worked on quite a few big data projects around the world since then. I've really enjoyed working with SSAS (MDX/Tabular) the last 8 years), but can still write some pretty mean SQL when required. :)
Very helpful and well presented.
Do you have the Power BI visual file because i cannot read the Dax code properly

Hi there, it sounds like it should work using the same principals. Any chance I can get a copy of a sample PBIX so I can see if I can help?

@chassMSFT - For future topics, I'd love to see if there's a way to hide something in a tooltip. Some times I don't want to show everything.

Phil how long have you been involved in working with DAX MDX and overall MS BI stack?
