The slugger is changed from bots killer to only a bug killer. Because bugs doesn't shoot back that much. And the lost of the stagger, it also lost the stun effect on the beserkers and devastators.
I went against the grain and unlocked the Dominator even after everyone said that it was vastly outclassed by other options. I didn’t care. The sound and punch it packed was too cool for me to pass up. Now that it’s buffed it truly is a Dominator by name and use.
I appreciate you making a really good, informative video about these two weapons. I prefer the Dominator in most cases simply because I like the heaviness of it which makes it feel proper. The Slugger is also just as good, and it all depends on who uses it and how. Honestly, any weapon in the right hands is a master work, people just need to start trying and mixing up strategies. Love the vids!!
I don’t think the slugger is just as good because ironically the nerf hurt the weapon in its ability to be an effective shotgun. The slugger isn’t bad but it is isn’t ol reliable anymore and it just makes me sad

Thanks for taking the time to make this review, but I have to be honest, I don’t understand your references to the Slugger’s “reliability”. It’s not like it’s going to jam. So I’m not sure what makes it “reliable” exactly, aside from your mention of the menu now reflecting the gun’s actual armor penetrating capabilities. If it always has those armor penetrating capabilities, and it’s not going to jam up on you due to the fact that it’s a video game, I don’t understand what makes it more reliable all of a sudden. The reason I mention it is because you stated the obvious cons of reduced damage, stagger, etc., but then you counterbalanced those with the pros of improved “reliability” and “versatility”. I guess I missed the part where there were any real changes made that improve the gun’s performance in game. A better explanation on the menu doesn’t improve what the gun actually does, and therefore it sounds like a disingenuous argument to say that a better description on the menu balances out the decreased damage and stagger. If those things actually did serve as a counterbalance, then it seems like the devs would have mentioned it when they were defending their decision to nerf it.

"but then you counterbalanced those with the pros of improved “reliability” and “versatility” - I was referring exactly there that You can pair it up with the stratagems to make it more reliable.. for example the G.rover..when equipping the G.rover you can take care of the medium enemies more than giving a shot on the small enemies, you can stil wipe them almost like before but unlike the pre-nerf slugger.. they can take them out with no time singlehandedly... After every nerfs and buffs, there's still a way to make a weapon viable.. pair it with the stratagems, make a loadout adjustment to make it viable.. otherwise if you don't wanna touch your loadouts.. then it not suits your playstyle..
Everyone is losing their minds over the Jar, claiming it’s overpowered now. And while I do think it’s incredibly strong, if you’re having trouble keeping enemies at a distance, you’re better off giving the slugger a shot. It’s still very strong.
@wombatturd so what are people supposed to do if a change is bad? Not criticize it? The nerf was bad not even cause the slugger was nerfed, but because the nerf doesnt address the issue with the slugger Im not even a slugger user. I primarily use the penetrator and punisher. Ive used the slugger maybe twice. I can still acknowledge that the decision was a bad one

Good one ! To me, the Dominator has always been my choice over the Scorcher. And even tho I prioritized Scorcher on Automaton's missions, I started abandoning it for one reason : I'm too bad. Hehe, I mean, I died way to often from the Scorcher than I should have... if an enemy rushes you, jumps at you and you underestimate the range or don't switch to sidearm in a split second, you'll die from your gun.

Ooh, throwing out the voice a bit! I gotta say the new dom is great. Being able to stun lock the mediums to line up the headshot is great. I think the slugger just went from mostly OP to slightly OP. Honestly it makes sense with them announcing the new warbond. The new explosive rifle woulda felt really similar to the old slugger. They probly wanna make sure theres room for all the new toys.
They should either increase the stagger or dmg of the slugger imo. I can understand removing the ability to blow up doors though. Slugs are meant to pierce armor, not be explosive and blow up doors.
for +1 round in the magazine you get less damage, reload 1 shell at a time, less fire-rate, more-recoil, similar ballistics, worse scope, lower range and comparable handling/sluggishness. even w/o the nerf it would have struggled against the buffed JAR but with the nerf the devs just moved a problem they caused (shotgun better at headshots than their DMRs with atrocious handling) onto an even more powerful weapon now while barely nerfing the one they were complaining about. it's not that the slugger is bad now it's just that the JAR and slugger are now competing ever more closely while the JAR has statistical advantage in EVERY metric that's not the 15 vs 16 magazine capacity. the only thing the slugger had that made it worth going for is the destruction factor that was removed, and like the railgun (no save heavy-pen anymore) IMO it shouldn't have had it's core quirk/feature removed.
Ran slugger on helldive/9, it's still the fast, agile, quick to aim headpopper, just less forgiving. It's still the best weapon to attack small outposts, objectives, and treasure caches with, as the dominator struggles to get it's sights on your 2nd, 3rd, 4th targets. By the time the slugger cleans house with all the samples, the dominator gets tangled up in bot drops/bug breaches.
I think you can just get used to the handling. I don’t like how sluggish it is but you’re definitely overselling how detrimental it can be. It’s definitely not enough to offset how the dominator is better than the slugger in every single category now.
@@agedgouda8809 you can get used to it, yes, but it is still far slower and "weightier"than the slugger, plus the fact you need to at least crouch and stay still to take accurate shots hurt it in regards to take objectives/ get samples, etc.
oh and apparently somebody said they also added a stealth buff to the doninator which is reduced recoil im not sure if thats right but maybe you can try it

The slugger nerfs are so weird... Because now with the dominator buffs, you really have no reason to use the slugger. The dom hits harder, fires faster, has more stagger, and selective fire. It completely phases out the slugger. Maybe if they had changed the slugger to fire a spread, it would be useful as a shotgun, but firing slugs makes it WAY too unforgiving when you miss a single shot compared to the dominator now that it has been nerfed. The increased handling of the slugger does not make up the difference. Honestly, even before the nerfs, if you had access to the scorcher then you already had a poor reason to pick the slugger besides personal preference and that awesome demolition potential. And it's not like this was a Railgun situation where people were trivializing the game with it and everyone was calling it meta.
Slugger is good because of it's extra layer of defense by flinching enemies to compensate it's slow fire speed just like punisher, it's still a good gun sure but the gun identity literally taken by dominator.

So while the slugger got 3 big nerfs, the menu is a bit more accurate, so that makes it all good right? 😂 Edit: just wanted to add something a little more positive, I do like your videos and this was a good voiceover. Keep doing what you do, I just felt in particular with this video your insights weren’t very specific or helpful.
it is a very small detail, but i use the slugger still because the ADS is faster than the dominator. The ADS on the dom feels kinda sluggish, especially when fighting things close. (dom is better gun tho imo)
I have the same with crossbow vs eruptor. The eruptor feels so heavy and slow. Vs crossbow can do everything what eruptor can except medium armor penetration. There is really not a weapon that is better in every situation

I really know for what kind of vibe you were aiming and i just got a few things that catched my attention in comparison to your other videos, but may be purely subjective: What happened to the informations you previously put down in the white boxes, like how it the weapon now handles different enemy types. I know, you want the voice over sound exiting and cinematic, but maybe less is more. For sure, ypu can strike a balance between pin point facts and a bit more poethic speech, as well as not repeating yourself. Lastly, for the slugger, your ending statement was something along the line of 'maybe its even better now' stats wise this is false, and you probably know. Do you just want to stay positiv ? Because some things can be bad or not as good as previously, thats fine, you may have to explain why its better in your opinion. This seems like a lot but are just the first things that came to my mind in comparison to ypur old style of video. You really did a great job for your first voice over and imo there are only little tweaks neccessary to the video and text structure. Keep on going

NIce video, but to me the slugger is useless now especially compared with all other weapons that have been boosted. I feel like shooting with blanks now xD. I almost don't see any players using it.. Nerfing the Slugger is so anti-democratic, it smells like treason to me xD .

This is the best video you can find. The guy showcases why NOT TO TAKE EITHER WEAP! Even breaker incendiary is way way better. Personally i Prefer Eruptor, shoot at the feet of packs of mobs for AoE or 1-shot all non-hulk / non-tank enemies. You can get a Supp weapon for these kinds. Ty. I tried them myself and I can second that they are indeed worthless.
Absolutely no idea why youd prop up the slugger as if the changes didnt absolutely destroy it. Go take a stalker nest with it. I fucking dare you. Also you can literally pair strategems with everything else in the game too what the hell does that matter.
I just did face a bug breach with it with chargers and bile titan.... walking alone in the stalker nest is risky but still manageable.. and That's my point even after the nerf you still find way to make it viable by pairing with stratagems..

I have a love-hate relantionship with JAR-5. It's so powerful but feels like waving around a 100 kg log.
yeaah the slow sway aiming makes it harder to use it but still manageable...Thanks for sharing man! 💯

I personally use the other shotgun now, it has way more impact than the slugger

Absolutely no idea why youd prop up the slugger as if the changes didnt absolutely destroy it. Go take a stalker nest with it. I fucking dare you.
Also you can literally pair strategems with everything else in the game too what the hell does that matter.
I just did face a bug breach with it with chargers and bile titan.... walking alone in the stalker nest is risky but still manageable.. and That's my point even after the nerf you still find way to make it viable by pairing with stratagems..
PVP is the new meta. If Arrowhead wants to constantly sabotage shotguns, I will be sabotaging missions. Democracy can suck it.
