So sad for the businesses, staff and tourists. It was a unique little area really with all those good restaurants in one little group right on the beach. Adam, if you hear of any plans to re open any of those restaurants could you keep us updated? Thank you for today’s video.
Totally agree and so well put. I’ll keep an eye out for any of the places reopening. What I was told will be the new Lila Pantai looks to be more than 6 months off. It’s still a shell.
Some of the comments on social media are absurb, ‘I’m not coming to Sanur again’. It’s what 7 restaurants and what can a foreigners displeasure of the situation do? We all knew this was going to be developed years ago. Fantastically, many are moving to new locations so be we can continue to support them and their staff. Great info as always Adam.
Cheers mate. I suppose the main concern is that a once vibrant area of the beachfront may end up becoming a rich person enclave. I can understand that. But I do get your point that any of the successful restaurants down there will simply relocate and retain their loyal customers because they were good. We’ll see what happens!
Yeah I was talking about that with my wife. Even if they develop that front area into a loud beach club suited to gym bros and chicks walking around in g strings, it’s going to fail. Young people don’t come to Sanur because it’s boring! In which case, it will need to be redeveloped anyway.
@@SanurDiaries I have been noticing more young people enjoying Sanur in recent times to get away, from the noise in Seminyak and Canggu ... I watched another video on the closed eateries on the beach walk and they said they are going to build a new hotel there . Hopefully it is a nice mature place to add to Sanur... Anyway fingers crossed Sanur with keep its taste for a bit more class ! looking forward to your next video folks . I always enjoy them !!
That little strip of restaurants was so popular with the tourists and will be sadly missed. I'm not sure a beach club is suited to Sanur. The former Arthotel Beach club near Icon is still abandoned.
A beach club will fail. 100%. I don’t think anyone is going to be brave enough to create one like you have in Canggu. The crowd is just not into it as you say. It’d be great if the rented a few shops out to local independent businesses to keep some of the vibe alive.
so Sad to see all of these always Happened... Had been one of the best area we used to go with Families and Friends to Enjoy the restaurant from local People, the Beach😢
The parking lot behind was sealed off already 2 yrs ago. So this was in the pipeline to happen. This is a multi million $ prime location. Hope it won't become like in Tanjung Benoa, with rusty fences and nothing happening in the end. The soul of Sanur has finally being sold as well. Don't blame the developers, but blame the local authorities.
Yeah agree that this was always going to happen. I really love the small, independent businesses in Sanur. It gives the place character and to lose this many of them is really disappointing.
unfortunately, we will see more of this events taking placed where businesses are displaced due to land ownership disputes. Some "important people" are making transactions and soon people will find out the true fate of the lands they're sleeping on! not just a problem in sanur but the rest of Bali.
Shame, we had some of those on our list from your diaries. We rode past them yesterday. Yes they will probably build a monstrosity but life goes on. Keep up the good work Adam.🙏
I really hope and pray that they don’t build a Beach Club. If I want that, I will go to the other side of the island. I probably speak for plenty of us who go to Sanur to not have that Beach Club scenario and just enjoy and relax and enjoy the vibe and chilled atmosphere. A new resort/hotel is normal and my preferred option, but then again, not my land, not my decision.
Yeah nobody seems to know. A few people reckon they even know the name of the new hotel that will supposedly be built, but I think it’s too early to say.
Sad. What a time to move. Dinner thursday. Gone friday. Sad. December was taugh. So much rain. Sad. Good luck to the business owners. Yes who knows. God bless all. We love bali ❤ better 2025
I think any westerner would be a total fool to invest any money into Bali. you would just never truly know where you stand and how secure you would be.
what about further down, right at the end where all the local Balinese go to beach, big building going on there too, they will squash out the locals ?.
Not sure as that has been a barren section forever. If it’s the block I think you’re talking about. At the absolute end where all the warungs are seems unchanged and as popular as ever. The big project seems to be sandwiched in between Mercure and the car park which might have the effect of tidying up that specific area of the beach. I hope so. I also hope that the locals aren’t pushed out!
So sad who’s putting up the money for the hotel? Blame tourism and bad luck to the small family businesses that have been there for years not good I would not go there 😇🌈🙏❤️
OMG!! Was there in October ….shame! Stayed at Kembali Lagi and had two beautiful meals at Coco Bistro and lovely photos ! From Perth Western Australia
Yes very sad. Hopefully it gets turned into something nice!

And some restaurants have re opened in a new location

Hopefully they don't develop Sanur into a loud beach club scene like Canggu and parts of Seminyak

One of my fave areas to eat, thanks for giving us an update

Thanks for the update Adam. It was always a great place for a mojito or coffee. Hope it is sorted quickly.
Yeah me too!

Thanks Adam,in my humble opinion beach clubs are more suited to beaches that enjoy a sunset, not sunrise,
Absolutely agree
so sad mate, I have eaten at many of the restaurants you mentioned. Will not be the same walking along the beachfront path. Wow!
Certainly won’t be the same hopefully it becomes even better
Wow and the speed they are demolishing very rapid
100%
Yes but I think better to do it quickly and fence off rather than have the venues slowly dilapidating and a haven for goodness knows what
so Sad to see all of these always Happened... Had been one of the best area we used to go with Families and Friends to Enjoy the restaurant from local People, the Beach😢
I agree. Very sad.
How sad
I was there 6 weeks ago and back in two weeks.
But I guess that's just the normal rotation of progress
So excited to see what comes back.
Too true!

Pure greed.

Some "important people" are making transactions and soon people will find out the true fate of the lands they're sleeping on! not just a problem in sanur but the rest of Bali.
That doesn’t sound good.
Raining in January? I was there last January and it was beautiful
Thanks for this
You're welcome!
Shame, we had some of those on our list from your diaries. We rode past them yesterday.
Yes they will probably build a monstrosity but life goes on.
Keep up the good work Adam.🙏
Thanks!
Life does go on and perhaps some of these places will live on elsewhere in town.
There once existed a paradise, it’s now paradise lost
All in the name of progress!
I went there once 30 years ago. Since then I have been in Ubud
Oh right. Lots has changed over the years. Might be worth coming back to check it out!

Exactly. I'm pretty sure your views are similar to most people's. I can't imagine a beach club doing well.
Sad 😢we loved bamboo went there many times…
Yeah it is sad.
Wonder what the plans are for that area?
Yeah nobody seems to know. A few people reckon they even know the name of the new hotel that will supposedly be built, but I think it’s too early to say.
Are you or your channel on Instagram, Adam?
Nah mate I’m not. I’m trying to keep things as simple as possible with Sanur Diairies as it can often take a lot of my time.
Sad and depressing.😢
Yep. Hopefully the new arrangements will be as good as before. In the meantime it’s just a waiting game.
So sad .
😢
Yep
Sad. What a time to move. Dinner thursday. Gone friday. Sad. December was taugh. So much rain. Sad. Good luck to the business owners. Yes who knows. God bless all. We love bali ❤ better 2025
100%. Wise words.
Canggu is trending surf young culture and Sanur is Family
Hopefully it remains that way
Thanks Adam, watch this space I guess.
Yeah it’s a bit like that. What’s done is done and we can only hope something fantastic appears.
I think any westerner would be a total fool to invest any money into Bali. you would just never truly know where you stand and how secure you would be.
Yeah it can be pretty wild.
what about further down, right at the end where all the local Balinese go to beach, big building going on there too, they will squash out the locals ?.

Please don't let them build a horrid beach club. 🤞🤞🤞
Let's hope!
So sad who’s putting up the money for the hotel? Blame tourism and bad luck to the small family businesses that have been there for years not good I would not go there 😇🌈🙏❤️
Yeah I don’t know who is funding the hotel, but there are some ultra ultra rich people in Indonesia for whom it would be no big deal.
The story is already told by another vlogger from Australia.
Oh that’s nice. I do recall watching a video about the situation more than a year ago.
Yes that boring Gary did a video a few days ago. This video was a better watch
Haha I didn’t realise he’d done one!
@ yours is better
Haha thanks mate
Its not new. planned since 2019
Just happened though...
