Sad day for sanur, part of the magic was being able to sit at a beachside restaurant.
But now that’s gone. Poor Duyung beach
Thankyou Krishna for checking it out

We stayed at Duyung Homestay in mid September so we visited Pantai Duyung often. A local confidentially told us going south all businesses be demolished to build a Beach Club We dismissed this as we thought it would be a disaster and would not bode well for the well liked area would lose all of this areas ambiance. Sadly this rumour we heard has become a reality money talks in Bali but my wish is that this venture immediately fails. I am sure most visitors to Sanur feel the same.

Thats really sad. And I feel for all the locals that have lost their jobs. 😢 Sanur is our favourite place to stay in Bali. If it has beach clubs it definitely won't be the same. We love Sanur as its our relaxing place away from the chaotic area's like Canggu and kuta regions.

Sanur is still my favorite place to stay when i'm in Bali, but it's getting more and more a Kuta/Jimabaran copy and that will be the end of Sanur as we know it and i like it.

We were in Bali in December and in Sanur for 16 days. We had dinner there a few times in the evening, it was nice to sit there when it wasn't raining. We left for Belgium on December 25 and on December 30 I read on Facebook that December 31 was the last day that those restaurants and The Nest were allowed to be open. Apparently they did not have the necessary permits, some say, or their contract expired on December 31. Some say that a new hotel would be built there, others speak of a Beach Club. Let's hope it won't become a beach club. I also heard that the other beach club not far from Icon did not get a permit. Let Sanur remain calm, because this is our favorite place! Greetings from Belgium, Paul and Djoko

WHAT IS HAPPENING ? Bali is quickly headed to a different Place and not for the Better . 20 Plus businesses being closed in Sanur all for another Beach Front Resort, add to the fact Bali is already overpriced , People now look elsewhere . Bye Bali , Kuta and Seminyak are finished now comes Sanur ending. In Australia I live near the biggest MALL in The Southern Hemisphere and wouldnt go there EVER, but in Bali they think building Malls are an achievement . ALSO NOTE Total lack of Tourists

Krisna i heard of this in 2023. I guess the government so hell bent on ruining what we love about Bali and why we go to places like Sanur . Is so sad, those poor people and there businesses.
They want to build a resort beach club. I won't be going to another resort. I love going to the local places meeting the local people.😢😢Leave Sanur alone, some of them have gone to Kuta Square.
So much for my visit in March😢😢

Like it’s says in the Eagles song The Last Resort “you call some place paradise kiss it goodbye “. Never a truer word spoken. The worst part is it will be foreign investment and won’t benefit the locals. Corporate greed wins again.

All that money generated from tourism and they can’t fix the potholes or maintain the sidewalks.
Poor planning, lack of essential infrastructure, litter everywhere, etc. it’s a pity the national and local government haven’t invested heavily in Balis infrastructure and educating people in simple basics such as - throw your litter in a bin and don’t burn plastics.

I read that this was planned 2 years ago already (that's why they closed the parking there) as the government is going for 'quality tourism' (which I think they have already in Sanur). The restaurant owners could prepare their move. Rumour has it that they will build a huge beach club with a pool instead of the 12 restaurants. Say it's not true!

@@baliwithkrisna I think they decided it already two years ago. A beach club with rich owners, no local families. It's the same all over Bali (and in lots of other countries as well)- money talks louder than decency.

Well looking at the comments made me sad. I was hoping that Jakarta can at least do things right by building parks along the beach like in DA NANG or NHA TRANG instead of another Canggu.
