Slip to a wheel landing and take off #handprop #airplanes #taildragger #aviation #dirtlanding #grasshopper #howdoesitgetanybetterthanthis #sacramentoriver #cn13 #l
@@Tom_in_CA hi Tom it took me a while too. For practice we went to higher altitudes and my CFI got me comfortable with stalls / slow flight while slipping.
@ I’m a student working on my Sport Pilot license. Just now have 2 hours solo time so I’ll be working on them all, left/right, forward and side slips 👍
@@Tom_in_CA I’m 61 and actually just got my sport license. I’ve been flying on and off for most of my adult life. A couple of years ago I decided I really wanted to become a competent tail wheel operator. I bought a champ and ground looped it after about a week later while practicing flying the tail in some crosswinds. Thankfully I got better! I hope you get comfortable with the slip. it’s a great tool. Where in CA are you located? Here’s a video with the most famous slip of all time! th-cam.com/video/8y8JBAr8dZ4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=j8Ub-wl4fTEmhiC_
If we land slower and 3pt one would not need to ground loop to not run out of runway! Students please do not fly this way. Airshow flying is not yet in your career path.
A slipping turn and wheel landing is not difficult as long as bottom rudder is avoided. His airspeed was fast enough to ensure enough float after roundout. A good instructor is the key though.
That is poetry in motion. Pulling off a slip landing at that speed and altitude, hats off to the pilot.
hey Thanks!
Nice slipping turn. Well done.
@@bobsakamanos4469 thanks
That what we Cub Pilot call having fun! 😁😎❤️
True stick and rudder skills!
Landed like a butterfly with sore feet…..beautiful display of airmanship

This is art. This is performance art. Amazing.
@@ThisPartIsAndrew thanks for watching!
That’s one short kind of steep base to final! The pilot certainly pulled it off well but….
@@pinepaul9920 I call it the elevator ride…

@@waynemanning3262 nice! 👍👍
That’s some crazy stuff. I love to slip, but I don’t have those kinda chops! (Yet 😊)

I agree it was a little fast even for a wheel landing. I saw an intentional turn around… hardly a ground loop … 🤷♂️
