4:49 "I see a Jedi shirt, I must have it painted black..." That green action lightsaber just gives me big Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi nostalgia
I've been waiting for a Luke that is the perfect mix of aesthetics, articulation and accessories (while fitting in with The Mandalorian), and this is it for me. I'm not a big enough Star Wars fan to notice the specific costume detailing past a certain point anyway, so as long as it's close to the Mando look, I'll take it, and the articulation on this guy is exactly what I want from a Star Wars figure. Not crazy but still giving you freedom for poses. Plus, face is pretty good given it's Mark Hamill's face they're trying to do.
Great review as always Robo. Wasn’t a crazy fan of this figure straight out the box but the more I’ve messed around with it the more I’ve liked it. It’s not perfect but it is the most accurate Mandalorian Luke we’ve gotten from any company, has some nice engineering, and I think the cloak is phenomenal! - Cawfee
Thank you for pointing out the differences. Luke’s prequel style Jedi robes is a my favorite look for him. I’m the same way about it, the details MATTER lol.
If this isn't the best Luke likeness/Lukeness we've gotten from major companies yet, it's got to be in top 5 contention. Some of that is this looking good, but a lot of it is a lot of others looking real bad.
Every time I see a Luke Skywalker headsculpt I become convinced I don’t know what young Mark Hamill looks like This Luke has the same hip joint setup as their The Batman- I don’t know if they’ll transition to this being their standard, or if they’ll just use it on certain characters, but it’s definitely interesting. I think in hand it makes the figure more kinda wobbly and finnicky to mess with but it does technically work. It especially helps that you get a full unencumbered thigh swivel as opposed to when it’s limited when it’s more hidden
I've been dying to have every company making Star Wars figures include a solid lit lightsaber, as well as an unlit handle for the belt. Nice to see Mafex go that route. I really wish Hasbro would follow suit, so we can lose the peg on the handle & have more stability.
10:35 i think they do that so that u can change which direction the blade is sweeping? like typical back-forward for a strike and side-to-side for like deflecting. u could argue just rotate the whole lightsaber but then he would hold the hilt awkwardly
I wish the black series did the lightsabers like this. The removable blades are cool but I’m always so worried about them breaking. I’ve broke one already and I have a couple that are probably pretty close.
💚Yay, Robo's review! Been waiting for this one! Got mine on Friday. Obviously I'm a big Jedi Luke fan (peep the avatar), so I have the same voice in my head. "When will it be enough 6" Luke figures?" Well, it'll be enough when one of them is perfect! I'd agree this Mafex gets really damn close. The tunic doesn't bother me as much as the headsculpt. I don't hate it, but it's too "pretty" to be Mark Hamill. Too Ken Doll/Justin Bieber. If I could use the SHF Luke head on this, it'd be perfect. Which is exactly how I felt about the Mafex/SHF Ahsokas. Thankfully, those were perfectly swappable. It's a shame these neck pegs aren't compatible. I agree about the TNJ Luke. I like it less the more I look/play with it. But alas, I must have all of the Lukes. 💚
I wonder if a cloth tunic might just be the way to go. Like how shf vader was. I appreciate the details and differences, but Im at that juncture of just wanting a semi definitive luke i can fudge the whole way through.
Oh that's a surprise. They reused the thigh/hip system from their Pattinson Batman. Still not sure if that's the best way to do thighs, a bit too Yamaguchi for what's otherwise normal articulation. But we'll see if it sticks.
Oh yeah! Yamaguchi is a good way to describe that joint. I'm not sure I like it and not sure it improves anything but it's also not messing anything up. At least as long as it's hidden, it does make the thighs ugly.
One, it wasn't gray in RotJ, that's just light on a different material, it's clearly way darker in all the previous scenes. Two, the JNB isn't RotJ Luke.
It’s a cool figure but it looks nothing like MH. SHF wins for me even with the inaccuracies of the costume. I’d rather have a great portrait than perfect costume details
Same here. Good likeness and 80% accurate over no likeness and 90% accurate. Plus, I like that SHF works as RoTJ or Mando, and tbh I never noticed the outfit changed in Mando with how dark and distractingly cgi it was 😅
I just got this one Saturday and hes really nice. But im not sure if i like him more than the Hasbro Imperial Lightcruiser vereion. Something about that one really hit all the right buttons for me. But im not as much of a stickler for scene accuracy, so im just basing it as being a figure in hand.
Yeah, I probably should have gotten that Lightcruiser Luke but it was too much like the S.H. Figuarts I already had. This hits my Mando Luke needs for the most part.
@RoboDontKnow I actually got the SHF reissue after seeing your review of the first run of the figure. It was the 3rd SHF figure that I got where I just couldn't stand the joints (ankle specifically). But also around that time I got the Hasbro Grogu/Luke set for half off and that Luke was a nice change of pace for the display. So both SHF and ILC Lukes ended up on the sidelines anyway.
He loolks like more of a ken doll. Articulation is better than Figuarts, but I'm happy with figuarts, I don't see a lot more nor something that's game changing between both.
Hi Robo.... released in December 2024 or December 2025... 0:07 ... ? Yeah I know, I'm just a pain in the ar$e. As always, I really enjoyed your review.
OMG they finally did it: the split/overlapping robes!
I've been requesting this for years now.
He looks better than I expected, nice. Really liked the pose at the "end of the day" moment, too. 👍
Yeah, that just kinda fell in place, glad it worked as well as it did!
4:49 "I see a Jedi shirt, I must have it painted black..."

Haha, dang it, you're right.

I agree with all of that, this is about as close as any of the companies are giving us so my itch is scratched for the moment.
5:55 😂😂😂 “holding the balls”
I’ve seen a review of this fig literally an hour ago, but, come on, it’s robo, who Can say no to robo? He’s probably about to make my day
Robo you should make a review on that JNB Luke! Looks pretty good :)
- Cawfee
Agreed on all points. It's still not perfect but it's probably the best we're going to get.
🎶No colours anymore, I want it to turn blaack🎶
6:07 -- "Minor adjustments to the height"
Bigger Luke Theory fans finally winning.
I’d love to see a gripe filled review of that J&B toys Luke!
Haha, I don't think I can stand messing with it any more that I already have.
Looks more lifelike than he did on Disney+.
Looks amazing. Just wish there was a little less gloss on the tunic.
Huh I'm sold on this Luke!
Thank you for pointing out the differences. Luke’s prequel style Jedi robes is a my favorite look for him. I’m the same way about it, the details MATTER lol.
6:45 So this is a secret, yet official BIGGER LUKE figure. :o
If this isn't the best Luke likeness/Lukeness we've gotten from major companies yet, it's got to be in top 5 contention. Some of that is this looking good, but a lot of it is a lot of others looking real bad.
Yeah, people like to argue it but at this point we've never gotten a GREAT Luke likeness, but we've gotten good. This is good. Ish.
Every time I see a Luke Skywalker headsculpt I become convinced I don’t know what young Mark Hamill looks like

Excellent review, as always.
Thanks man!

it would be cool to see all your lukes in one place
I may have to do that, the new Black Series Farmboy Luke is on the way so I pulled all of those out to the shop.
Was waiting for this review...pre ordered after watching...the only other mafex star wars figure i have is their Mando and I loved that one..
Older MAFEX run larger so you jumped in at a good time!
10:35 i think they do that so that u can change which direction the blade is sweeping? like typical back-forward for a strike and side-to-side for like deflecting. u could argue just rotate the whole lightsaber but then he would hold the hilt awkwardly
10:58 to 11:02 if i had a nickel for every time i heard that... i had have no nickels 🤣
Hot Toys DX23 is good reference for the suit accuracy.
Yeah, that's closer but I still think the tunic is a little short.
Great review. For soft goods Luke, I suggest trying to dye the gray tunic black.
Yeah, but that's doesn't fix the wonkiness of the tunic and belt, or the ankles.
@ true I have the figure and something about the outfit looks big and off setting
I wish the black series did the lightsabers like this. The removable blades are cool but I’m always so worried about them breaking. I’ve broke one already and I have a couple that are probably pretty close.

WHOA…it released in the future! 😅
Heh, yeah, I originally had it as JAN 2025 but then realized it dropped in December. Forgot to change the year.
I wonder if a cloth tunic might just be the way to go. Like how shf vader was. I appreciate the details and differences, but Im at that juncture of just wanting a semi definitive luke i can fudge the whole way through.

I think blade comes out bescause the action blade is bigger so it's harder to fit it in his hands
They made the tunic grey because his tunic was grey. You even showed a pic from ROTJ and there’s the grey tunic in plain sight.
One, it wasn't gray in RotJ, that's just light on a different material, it's clearly way darker in all the previous scenes. Two, the JNB isn't RotJ Luke.
How much customizing would it take to turn this into a Jabba's Palace Luke?
Replace the torso and belt.
@@RoboDontKnow And paint one of the right hands flesh tone!
@RoboDontKnow what about the fleshy covered robo hand?
Or buying an actual Jabbas Palace Luke heh
@RoboDontKnow I have the walmart exclusive Black series in my display currently, and it's not great, even though I upgraded it with a wired cloak.
SHF luke still has the better likeness, deepfake or not we all know how mark hamill is supposed to look like
Yeah, and the SHF is based on Return of the Jedi and not The Mandalorian, should look more Hamill.
RELEASE NEW TALES FROM THE TUBS EPISODE NOW MY SON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am I having some deja vu??
I don't know, are you?
I don't know, are you?
You can try wetting/running water for the hood/cloak , should fall naturally and letting it dry.
Does it drive anyone else crazy that he calls it Mahfex instead of Mayfex?
I called it Mayfex. And Mahfex. And Muhfex. That way everyone is happy.
Tell me this is an obsession without telling me you are obsessed…. 😂😂😂
I’ll just let Robo’s inner monologue talk himself out…. 😊
I fully admit I'm hung up on this Luke's costume, haha!
The figure looks great and the likeness isn't bad but I'll be goddamned if it doesn't look exactly like Cole or Dylan Sprouse
It’s a cool figure but it looks nothing like MH. SHF wins for me even with the inaccuracies of the costume. I’d rather have a great portrait than perfect costume details
The SHF is pretty close to being Mando Luke especially if you throw the cloak on. Then you can't really see the inaccuracies of the shirt as much.
Same here. Good likeness and 80% accurate over no likeness and 90% accurate. Plus, I like that SHF works as RoTJ or Mando, and tbh I never noticed the outfit changed in Mando with how dark and distractingly cgi it was 😅
No figure looks like MH unless it's Hot Toys.
@@RoboDontKnowThe SHF “Endor Village” does. And even some Hot Toys aren’t great!
Very true, even they miss sometimes. Like that new Johnny Storm.
I just got this one Saturday and hes really nice. But im not sure if i like him more than the Hasbro Imperial Lightcruiser vereion. Something about that one really hit all the right buttons for me. But im not as much of a stickler for scene accuracy, so im just basing it as being a figure in hand.

I don’t know why they make some figures look so shiny the characters the Matt look is fine, with weathering
I thought we already did this?
You didnt show how up he can move his arms
He loolks like more of a ken doll. Articulation is better than Figuarts, but I'm happy with figuarts, I don't see a lot more nor something that's game changing between both.
That portrait is just as lackluster as the Hasbro version(s) so I'm not getting fooled again on a much higher priced placeholder.
Oh that saber blade is bulbous and looks wonky. Hips are an interesting change. In total, I would pick this up if I could.
I’m sorry, but that face looks just like Cole and Dylan Sprouse. Good thing he’ll probably be wearing a hood 90% of the time
not a huge fan. The joints are really visable.
It is an action figure after all. As long as it moves the way I want it to I'll take any joint design lol
Hi Robo.... released in December 2024 or December 2025... 0:07 ... ? Yeah I know, I'm just a pain in the ar$e. As always, I really enjoyed your review.
the reason the action blade comes out is so you can have the swing effect go in any direction you want
