the Supervisor sounded like a robotic Palpatine to me. Also I dont understand why Jod gave up so quickly(almost like rushing things to end the episode quickly). I guess he thought that if the Rebels took down Palpatine and the Empire, then he had no chance of winning.
@@jeffreycarman2185 Just because we never saw it in Live Action doesn't mean they didn't use it in Live Action, the only time it was ever used was in Rebels when the B-Wing was introduced.
Landed the ending well, would love for a season 2. Jods slight smile when the kids/and parents won was nice. I hope Jude Law can stay in the Star Wars universe. It suits him. Thanks for all the great breakdowns Charlie 😊
All Disney star wars anti heros seem to have the same backstory a Padawan during order 66 that grew distrustful of Jedi values but still value them in some nostalgic way
Such a great episode. I actually felt bad for Jod at the end watching all his plans crash and burn. That short backstory for him was perfect. I hope they do a 2nd season or he ends up in other projects.
One thing about Palpatine knowing or not knowing about AT-Atten; Remember that there were 8 of these planets at some point. It is ENTIRELY plausible that Palpatine knew about them and used the AT-planets to pay for all his various super weapons over the course of the Empire and he was SAVING this last one as a backup plan. How else would he have been able to build TWO death stars AND super star destroyers AND refit the whole fleet all at the same time. Palpatine absolutely did not think he was going to die when he did. He thought he was winning. So i think he was saving the last planet as an emergency fund for whatever was coming after the rebellion. When they went to the other AT whatever it looked like it was only abandoned for maybe 1 generation since they were still using the infrastructure and the overseers office was still "sacred". If it had been like 5 generations of war on that planet everything would have been destroyed and i doubt anyone would have considered an empty shell sacred.
You guys don't understand how money works, if he'd have flooded the galaxy with trillions of extra credits, the credits worth would've plummeted into the ground, causing hyper inflation And also: The Empire had its OWN Mints
Loved the season! They hit the mark for me. There was depth, good acting & writing and they managed to stick the landing IMO. I even got a bit emosh when I thought KB might be hurt. Well done Jon Watts, well done Star Wars 🎉
Yes. It's not the best star wars ever but it was a fun show. Everyone is ready to jump on the next acolyte which was horrible. Every show needs to be given a chance. That way we can find andors or acolytes.
I like the idea that when Whim yells out "Jod" before the elevator door closes he still holds out hope for him realising that the only reason he lost was because Jod couldn't even hurt one of them and that he was actually visibly upset about KB crashing. I would like to see if there is a season two that the kids offer him some sort of gettaway with a few credits letting him in the future help them as some sort of anti hero friend.
I don't think the smile is because he knows how to get out of there I think the smile has to do with what he told the kids about his backstory and he said there is no hope in the galaxy. The kids had hope and needed help and then the New Republic showed up, showing that there was still hope. Even though he lost, the kids were saved.
Remember on episode 7: Fern called "unclaimsies" and claimed the Onyx Cinder only for Children, so we might see more of them in the skies (SW Rebels had a group of kids called Iron Squadron and they commandeered a YT-2000, there were no real follow-up so maybe Skeleton crew is the take 2)
That was my thought. Finding a pile of money is great. Finding unlimited money is bad. Exposing the planet to the open market would tank the currency. The New Republic is going to have to melt it all back down just to keep galactic markets from crashing.
So sad to see this end, my daughter and I loved it. This is what Star Wars was all about and I can't wait to see another season. Jude Law is a gem and deserves a place as a hero in the Star Wars saga. I think Fern has the Jedi within her and perhaps Jod will eventually train her!?
Was hoping for minor post credit/link to wider universe. Completely get keeping story self-contained, pero allow the tie-in (I was hoping to see the N1 Star fighter flying through taking out pirate's crafts (wouldn't have to show Din/Grogu). When they spoke w/the supervisor, I liked that it was self-aware and seemed aware of larger universe. It woulda been nice to see that "being" explored deeper. Good Breakdown as always. While not as good as Mando or Ashoka, I'd watch a season two. Also, I want to see Jod & Migs Mayfield paired up... their interaction would be GOLD
I only felt that way about the last 2 episodes. They were very obviously 1 story and cut in half. But most of the rest of the season had pretty decent episodic story arcs.
I thought about that too. The Republic is going to have to melt down probably 90% of it just to stabilize the galactic market. Its the old thought experiment of what would happen if we captured that asteroid (16 psyche) worth $10,000 QUADRILLION dollars. Instantly making the value of all precious metals on earth go to near zero.
I appreciate Jod was just a starving orphan who was briefly trained by a Jedi who was on the run. I’m glad they didn’t make him Darth Vader’s nephew or something
Thanks, Charlie! ✨💀✨ I surely hope there will be a continuation. It'll be fun to see the kids' characters grow... the actors are already visibly older!
Man this series was something special! If they continue with season 2 I would like to see more of Jod’s/Jude Law’s character preferably a flashback of his PTSD as a pirate “jedi” who essentially watched his master get 66’d. 😭😭
Nicely tied together. Everything was tight and optimistic and leaves Jude Law plenty of wiggle room to escape. I wonder if he'll sneak off on a limping Onyx Cinder with a bucket full of credits, just enough to fix up the ship but not enough to actually change his life. Or maybe the Onyx Cinder is stuck because SM-33 locked it down for anyone but Cap'n Fern, allowing them to go on another adventure. I was kind of disappointed by how brief Steven Fry's appearance was, but loved that he looks like a _HUGE_ R5 droid head. But wait - no time travel? j/k
it was nice wrap up to the story and fun story. If there more seasons aftert this its decent conclusion but would be fun to see more of these characters in the future
u know that show had a really good ending , i wouldn't be surprised if it does get a season 2 but i thought Jod would really be a survivor of order 66 as a jedi youngling, but wow that really never turned out to be true thanks for the video charlie!!
Palpatine could have gotten the credits to build the death star from the other 8 jewels of the republic, since we don't know when those other planets we destroyed....he just never had time to track down the last planet, or perhaps simply no longer had a means to get through the barrier
You guys don't understand how money works, if he'd have flooded the galaxy with trillions of extra credits, the credits worth would've plummeted into the ground, causing hyper inflation And also: The Empire had its OWN Mints
"Shields double forward!" is old x-wing game thing. So often I played x wing with my nephew. One small ship in big battle. One of us was pilot one was the astromech droid.
Two things: 1) Jod didn't order the Onyx to be loaded with treasure. The loading appears to be standard procedure for Emissary ships visiting AtAttin. 2) I have no doubt that the kids' adventure will become a story told to future generations of At Attin children.
A second season with a time jump would work fine. I doubt they would continue the Goonies thing. But it is really open for anything. I still believe this is Disneyland wanting to rebrand Pirates of the Caribbean ride. And that whole hoverbike scene screamed new attraction in Galaxies Edge to me.
Now I'm wondering if they'd just pick other early Amblin films as inspiration for next season, or give that up. Innerspace, Batteries Not Included, and Hook all come to mind. But I also don't immediately see how they'd make for good Star Wars storytelling.
This entire show ended up being about a kid who just didn’t want to take his test. The last line reads along the lines of “Guess you don’t have to worry about assessment now Wim!” The entire story, the whole show, ended up being about a kid too lazy to study 😂
There must be a moment now for The New Republic to build up something when Thrawn is coming. I want to see Hera Syndulla going up against him. That can be interesting. Otherwise loved Skeleton Crew and and all Easter Eggs from A New Hope etc Jod is also so good played by Jude Law so he will be good see in a movie or in one of the ashoka episodes etc 10/10 on the last episode.
I find it a bit odd that the Inquisitors let Jod live, nor did they adbuct him to be trained as another Inquisitor. If he does come back and gets an arc where he becomes more of a good guy, he would be great to work with Ahsoka. Two people with complex relationships with the Jedi Order, they would be a good teacher and student pairing. Maybe, just maybe, in the post Rise of Skywalker era, we could see a small Jedi faction emerge with Ahsoka as it's Yoda stand-in. Maybe Grogu, when he's older, would want to explore that side of himself after spending many years as a Mandalorian with Din. A fledgling new Jedi Order led by Ahsoka featuring Sabine, Jod, Grogu, possibly Ezra and Jacen too. That sounds way more preferable to me compared to a Jedi Order brought up by Rey or whatever the plan was with those movies.
I don't think the neither the shot where everyone is running over the Old Republic credits, nor when Kaybee (sp?) falls on top of the pile of credits, can be over stated, since the two major quest archs are in seek of value: Wyn's search for adventure (something more valuable than life on Adadan) and Jod's search for the ultimate treasure. The shots suggest what the credits are really worth, whether everyone realizes it or not. And "no bliss without sacrifice:" Jod sacrifices his ultimate treasure for a likely shift in values, the people sacrifice their security for a larger world with more possibility, the kids experience a REAL adventure at the cost of their innocence ... They all take the red pill.
Hope there is a 2nd season, I could see a battle for the planet between; Republic, New Order, Pirates, etc. I was surprised that there was a character listed as "Ninaa Nawood", that we never saw, I guess she was cut, possibly Jod's mother or the Jedi that adopted him and ultimately died.
At Attin is Oz and the Supervisor was the Wizard. I think this episode finally showed me how influenced by “The Wizard of Oz” the show was. Especially after having seen Wicked.
9:04 some of the fighters on At Achrann had Imperial army gear, so maybe At Achrann and some of the other “Jewels of the Republic” were pillaged to pay for the Empire’s mega projects, including the Death Star?
Star Wars Meg you’re right please people please give us another season please Star Wars fans in the Star Wars community please. We deserve it. This TV show deserves it. And also again I really, really hope in the future when we least expected. The acolyte comes back to finish what it started for real
I thought of the ending of the original Long John Silver (in the 50's Treasure Island)... He goes off on his own, but you don't know what will happen to him!
The rules behind how that works and why kaiburr crystals turn red is a little more complicated. He'd need to be truly evil to bleed the crystal. Just being angry and mean, isn't enough.
The Rise Of Skywalker should have been the Avengers Endgame of the Sequels. The shows should have aired first and there should have been a few years for other star wars series before finally releasing Rise of Skywalker. Would have been cool to see a final team up between every single character.
The main problem I had with the ending is mostly with Jod's character. It was all fine, but I'm more of a "show not tell" person in storytelling. If we could see him as a child watching the Jedi die in front of him and see some of the things that justify his current trauma and turn to crime, then I'm good. Otherwise he's just a gimmicky kind of goofy villain, just like the Fertelli's in Goonies. That's fine if its what you're going for, but I was hoping they'd kind of make you feel bad for Jod in a more impactful way or leave it open that he could maybe be redeemed.
No one caught Vane? The pirate that is also in Mando season 3? The pirate that gets kicked out of the school that used to be a bar ? He’s part of Jods crew invasion
The only connective tissue so far is the pirate Vane. He was the only survivor of gorian shards pirate crew. I do suspect that it would probably not be too difficult to find a new crew and establish himself there. This should help with some of the timeline at least. It is unknown if he survived again, but I bet he did because he seems to be an ill-fated character in that regard. Just need him to cross over to the Ahsoka series somehow or into the Mando movie. Resistance pilot wim has a nice ring to it, but possible a bad connotation since most of the resistance fleet was demolished. More probable to remain as a new Republic officer under Hera (maybe a new member of Ghost squadron? Yay Rebels 2 confirmed! Jk)

No one caught Vane? The pirate that is also in Mando season 3? The pirate that gets kicked out of the school that used to be a bar ? He’s part of Jods crew invasion
Your videos are not just information, they are true art. Thank you for your contribution to the culture on TH-cam!🎯🍮😳
The only thing I’m dissapointed is not knowing Cpt Renaud’s face.
Was I the only one who was screaming at my screen for wimm to pull the lever 😂
Jod’s bounty may be one Mando and Grogu try to get…
Thanks Charlie.
You're welcome!
Supervisor looks like a giant r2 dome
Jk)
