アメリカで爆発的なヒットを飛ばしたファミリーアニメ「ザ・シンプソンズ」をゲーム化したもの。ゲームの内容は、奥行きのあるタイプの横スクロールアクションゲーム。同社「T.M.N.T」にとても良く似た内容とゲームシステムを採用していて、4人同時にプレイできる点や4人のキャラクターの攻撃方法がそれぞれ異なるというのも全く一緒である。操作は、8方向レバーで移動、攻撃とジャンプに2つのボタンを使用する。2つのボタンを同時に押すことでより強力な攻撃が可能。ちょっと変わったボーナスステージも用意されている。

A jewel heist gone wrong sees Mr Burns's sidekick, Smithers, kidnapping Maggie and making his escape. Between one and four players take on the role of either Homer, Marge, Lisa, or Bart in this colorful, horizontally-scrolling beat-em-up from Konami. Each Simpsons character possesses an attacking move specific to them; Marge is armed with a vacuum cleaner, Lisa has a skipping rope, Bart has his skateboard, and Homer fights with his fists. The players must battle their way through a variety of Simpsons-themed levels - such as Springfield and Krustyland - fighting goons, thugs, zombies, drunks, firemen, and several Simpsons regulars. Many Simpsons characters that don't appear as enemies have 'cameo' scenes in the game (Otto working at a burgerstand in Krustyland, for example). The archetypal 'boss' character awaits the players at the end of every stage. The game ends with a final showdown with the evil Mr. Burns in his luxurious mansion.

There's something weirdly inspirational about this playthrough. Homer, the guy who under no other circumstances could be considered a good father, suddenly goes absolutely apeshit when his youngest daughter is abducted and proceeds to mow through the entire town of Springfield to get her back. Nobody is spared his paternal wrath - even the local civil servants like the fire and police departments seem to be powerless to stop him.
Homer power at it’s strongest here.

This should have been ported to home consoles back at that time. It would have be the only good game of the Simpsons for 16-bits consoles.
Sadly, Acclaim had the exclusive rights for consoles, not letting Konami to port this gem. It would've been like Sunset Riders, or TMNT: Turtles in Time.

What a pity, because 90s arcade brawlers are usually perfect for the Sega Saturn.
Then only under EA yet so much later on Xbox 360 and PS3 (which they sadly delisted), although can emulate easily. Some will like it for picking any stage and having quality of life improvements for home console. Once you beat the game once you could actually just pick any stage or do scores.
Heck, of that entire era, including the 8-bit games.

While true, it doesn't sound like they had Harry Shaerer involved on this given how Smithers and Burns sound nothing like him. Hank wasn't used either.

Because in the world release they removed a lot of objects.
The Japanese release is always easier than the world one. Like a built in easier mode. You also can't stunlock bosses and enemies are tougher.
Now you know how certain regions of games are different compared to American releases
