Had a 2012 TSX (same color/leather - no Nav) and I enjoyed the interior quality.. the 2012 had a front bumper fascia refresh which looks much better and the compartment plastics were finished with a woodgrain/slick type of material which also looks more premium.. Overall a solid car. Biggest annoyance with the steering wheel is the buttons hanging into the grip spaces.

The tsx this year is “sexy on wheels” it also is the cheapest luxury car to maintain per year, cheapest to repair per year. Compared to Other luxury car like Infinity Lexus Cadillac. Just I wouldn’t recommend a salvage tsx like mine lol

I did researched on this 2009 TSX and found out that only 09 has the knocking noise on the engine, its an defect/issue for 09 year only and said avoid buying 09 year. Good Luck with the car.

I used to own one just like that. Basically a European Accord. I loved it but it was in rough shape (Alaska owned and driven) so I sold it after only owning it for like 8 weeks, definitely lost money on it too. It was such a joy to drive but it needed a couple thousand in repairs to be perfect, and there were a few minor things I didn't like, I was just ready to try something new. I might even consider getting a 12-13 civic si at some point just to get back into a K24 ...

But I would say change Engine and Gearbox Oil, and dont be servant to the car, rahter other way around, when it stops go fix it. With Honda it should take a while until it stops. We will see.

I couldn't hear the metallic ticking noise you were talking about, but I would try using 90 octane or higher shell gasoline and see if it improves. If you already use that kind of gas, then I don't know what to say other than a valve adjustment. Mine never made an audible metallic tick.

Scotty kilmer said that you shouldn't change the transmission fluid if it was never changed in the past, you changed it 4 times in 3 years which is overkill. This might be why it's making a weird noise

Acura/Honda certified technician. Scotty is a retard. Trany fluid acts the same as engine oil. Change it asap no matter what. No reason to change fluid that is not properly lubricating. Clutch packs respond better with new OEM fluid. Changing OEM old fluid with new NON-OEM fluid is where the issue and misconception arises.

  • @skytell

For the metal ticking noise, besides coming from the Engine, it would be grinding between the brake caliper, brake pads and rotor - check that as well. If is not the Engine, not the brakes, then it could be transmission as TSX (1st or 2nd Gen) do have some issue with Auto Transmission.

My first car I’m trying to decide between 2007-2011 Honda Civic and Acura TSX so this helped a little. If I can get what is basically a “luxury Honda” I’d be hyped . I feel like a civic they will beat them down , an Acura I might can find one somone serviced and took care of and I continue doing the same. But I also don’t want my first car to put me in a financial hole… but I’d love this Acura. Help in my decision if you all have any comments I’d appreciate it

The 2007 civic is dope it’s got good style and a lot of great updates. They run forever, just watch out for bad head gaskets. If you want a tsx I recommend 2006-2008 tsx. I’m going to be making a video of my brothers 2008 tsx. It’s the older body style, les attractive, but he works at Tesla Motor and he put over 30,000 miles is he’s tsx in one year. And it is incredible I am blown away by the reliability of his car lol.

That ticking noise is most likely the intake VTC cam sprocket ⚙️. It’s a simply fix!
1- just take the valve cover off
2- take a small nubby ratchet & take the top of the sprocket cover off.
3- pull out the spring, stretch it, & put everything back together.
The whole job should take you no more then 25-35min to complete. Most of the work is just taking the valve cover off & surrounding components.
