I have a 1987 Alembic Spoiler bass that can pretty much get any sound you want. Yes, they are expensive but they have a look and sound that will last a lifetime!

first time I saw an Alembic was Stanley Clarke's bass on display at the African American History Museum in DC. I had never heard of the brand at that point. I'm not a bass player but I was immediately struck by how well made it looked. the woodwork, inlays, all the mechanics on the headstock, it all looked so masterfully done.

Absolutely love the fact that the background track when you’re describing the bass is someone playing Phil Lesh’s line from Help On The Way.

I have had my MK standard for 21 years, bought it at Rudy Music Stop on 169W 48th Street NY and brought it back to the UK. No question about it, THE best bass I have ever owned although it is a trifle heavy at 13lbs !. Bubinga top, maple accent laminates, mahogany body wings and the same electronics as the one showcased here. I went one step further and have front red LED's installed by Martin Sims in the UK who can do it without removing the fingerboard! Party on !

The MK sig Alembic is a 100% marketing bass. MK himself played on a Series II bass that sounds way different than this Alembic. Any Alembic is great, but you can basically get the same sound with a 'cheap' Persuader/Spoiler Alembic, you don't need a 8K $ MK sig for that.

I don't understand why there are some people hate slap bass that much. Every people has their own style, and I am sure there's a lot people out there want to hear the slap sound on every bass too, especially for this "Mark King" Alembic Bass.

The only negative thing I can say is that once again, here's Jerry Garcia tribute guitar and it's being played with a bloodless clean tone.
Sure, I understand that that's the way Jerry played but why is there nobody who for the heck of it plays one through a cooking Marshall and show how the Wolf can howl?
