    Tools needed for this job, Phillips screwdriver, T-20, T-30, and a prying fork... First tool used? A standard screwdriver. Lol Nice video bud, thanks!

    Great demonstration. Question, two actuators failed, do you recommend I replace the working ones as well?

      I wouldn't, I would replace them as they go.. You're not really saving any time or money by replacing good working parts in this case.

    Best video I've seen on this. Thanks! I just ordered a replacement actuator online, but it doesn't look like it comes with the two bars attached to it. Will this make things more difficult?

    • @MakeItEasyMechanic
      @MakeItEasyMechanic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, just lay the two actuators side by side and switch the rods over from one to the other, should be a simple 1 min task

    It hasn't been a priority to replace the rear passenger door actuator, but now it is because less that two hours ago I was at a stop light and some random woman opened the rear passenger door and threw her kids in my Jeep then hopped in.
    I started recording after I asked her to get out, and the point is that I took to TH-cam for a video just like this so that I can get this fixed this weekend.
    Thanks for being direct, and sorry about that weird story but I had to get that out.

    My 2000 grand Cherokee had 2 small rods up top not one on the driver side. Spent a good 30 minutes fighting with it. Now to figure out why my passenger door doesn't always work from the driver side

    Great video! Did the metal arms come with new Actuator or did you reuse originals? thank you, I have this exact problem with my ladies jeep. and about to replace them thanks to this video!

      I pulled a used one from a junk yard, so I pulled it with the metal rods. If you're buying a new one - you'll have to transfer the old rods overs

    Do you need to reprogram the key fob after doing this job?

    Would the actuator replacement make the door handle its self work to? The lock and door handles do not work inside or outside

    • @MakeItEasyMechanic
      @MakeItEasyMechanic  ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, usually the mechanism inside the door latch gets stuck due to lack of lubrication. And then you can't get it to move by pulling on door handles, you have to remove the door panel and push/pull on the connecting rods to get the latching mechanism unstuck.

    My problem is my door locks but doesn't unlock. Doesn't unlock with keyphob or the driver/passenger door.
    Any insight?

      Can still be an actuator. My lift gate would lock but would not unlock, solution was a new actuator because the loving arm was only had powered movement in one direction.

    Whoa, what tires are you rocking? Is this stock height or did you put a lift on it?

    where did you get your actuator from? buying a new one seems to be pretty spendy.

      I bought a used one from u-pull and pay. Under $20. Here's a good website to see the listings from all the junk yards in your area

      Mine makes the annoying noise, but doesn't unlock... I'm betting once the noise starts, the actuator is about to die.
