Proportional and servo valves are used when system sensitivity is more important than any other function. A proportional valve provides a change in output pressure or flows in the same ratio as the change in the input, for example, if the input doubles then the output will also double. Proportional valves can be interconnected with the output from one being used as the input to another

Graphic doesn't show the feedback wire re-centering the flap when the spool moves to its prescribed position. That's the whole point of having the feedback wire!
