    Excellent video Barbara. Love the texture the plastic wrap gives.

    New subscriber here! I’m thinking about investing in a gel pad and the goodies that I need. I’m a polymer clay and resin artist so I use alcohol inks and acrylic paint in some of my projects.
    I have tons of stencils too! Thanks so much for giving me a new way to add design to my polymer clay pieces! 😀

    lovely backgrounds and Finished items you could have also used bubble wrap to texture the inks instead of the plastic wrap.

    Love watching your videos...thank you. Could you please advise whether you could use the actual alcohol ink paper for this project? You have used top quality 'ordinary' cardstock. Is there any difference? Many thanks again xx

    Is there a “best” Brayer for gel printing?

    • @DelBellosDesigns
      @DelBellosDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! The most popular brand of brayer is made by Speedball. The most important quality in a brayer is the hardness of the roller. A recommended durometer hardness is 40/42 to assure even ink distribution. The 4" size brayer is the most common. I hope this helps!

    • @TheBiobarbara
      @TheBiobarbara 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it's recommended to use a "soft" brayer. The Speedball soft is what I've been using.

    What does the gesso do?..

    • @TheBiobarbara
      @TheBiobarbara 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sandy, I didn't use gesso in this video. Gesso is similar to acrylic paint only thinner. It dries hard and makes a surface more stiff. It can also be used for texturing and as a primer for accepting acrylic paint on certain media. See my next response as well.

    Why the acrylic (white gesso)?

    • @TheBiobarbara
      @TheBiobarbara 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. You saw on the video that I could pull a print directly from wet inks. As the inks dry, this is no longer possible. The acrylic I've used is "heavy body" and it adheres to the dried inks and can be pulled up onto paper as long as you do it 'before' the acrylic dries. When it gets pulled up, it practically leaves the gel plate clean. I hope I've answered your question, Sandy.

    Brilliant video thanks....my only concern is how much plastic you are using in both the wrap and baby wipes.....our planet is in dia straits.....we need to stop using plastic where ever possible...😢
