Just got this on mine last night, and it is absolutely amazing. This is how these games were intended, the hardware just couldn't support the vision. I think this is the most fun I've had on my quest.
I bought my VB about 2 years after it was released. I enjoyed it a lot. I wasn't disappointed in the red/black, in fact no one was really sure of what VR actually was supposed to look like aside what was portrayed in TV shows. There was Lawnmower Man, VR Troopers, and a moment in Sam&Max for the PC, when Sam goes into a VR (full body experience) game. Obviously we knew better back then, and what we saw was actually pretty impressive stuff for the time. The only other attempts at 3D were on some NES carts like world runner, and an attempted Genesis helmet which didn't really work. I was only disappointed to see that it retired early and that there weren't a lot of games. Wario, Red Alarm, Tennis and a couple others are in my library, still enjoy'em today. I never got headaches and I played this thing for hours. My classmates didn't get headaches when I let them borrow it. Might have been rare if it did happen.. I'd like to see nintendo give it another shot, but this time it can be done right. The only thing I don't like about Oculus and current devices is that they are TOO DAMN BULKY! They complained that the VB was big back then, they had no idea of what people would be strapping onto their head in the 2016s and later... There's zero reason for the current VR devices to be as big and heavy as they are today, they should weigh no more than 2 pounds and be 3/4 less thick than they are now.
On Oculus Go does not work with virtual boy go 1.5 but does work with 1.4 version. I recommend this game: Bound High!, Chalvo, the bouncing robot, travels through space In full 3-D motion in pursuit of alien invaders that threaten the peaceful inhabitants of Earth.
Virtual Boy, what a perfect emulator for the Go! Totally agree that they need more ways to demo VR. The VR arcades around here aren't cheap and the average Joe won't just walk in. Oculus should consider kiosks in malls and other places where everyone can try it without commitment.
@@VirtualRealityOasis Well some of us that grew up with the Virtual Boy and its Tiger counterpart the R-Zone (thanks to AVGN) are still living with the scars that they have left on our eyes, necks, backs, ears, and pocketbooks given they were made in poor design and having graphics in Black and Red. Making VR to appeal to those from those days into this day is not going to be that easy.
seeing vb again really brings back all the feels, both good and bad... loved Mario tennis and wario land.. didn't love the neck strain... im getting this...
And you can lay down and play it unlike the real thing which was an awkward balancing act... What we need now is a port of doom like the port that is on the rift and daydream based on the gl port of doom... That and more emulators... And it would be the perfect little console... Or better yet gamepad support for apps sideloaded into oculus tv...
This is awesome! Also, the Virtual Boy wasn't nearly as bad on the eyes as people like to pretend. It was however, a literal pain in the neck as there was really never a comfortable way of playing. This makes it far more comfortable I'm assuming.
Virtual Boy on Oculus Go? Cool! :D Btw, the original Virtual Boy, was not released here in Europe, because it was a big flop. A load of people thought, that you get blind, by playing these Games. So a really little amount of the produced consoles were actually sold.
I swear I don't think a day goes by I don't kick myself for selling my Virtual Boy for practically nothing about 12 years ago. Most systems emulation pretty much works well enough for. Virtual Boy is different of course. I am not usually a fan of virtual reality but if I thought I could play actual 3D virtual boy I would totally buy virtual reality headset. Probably be cheaper than trying to buy virtual boy at this point in time.
Just got this up and running. Wow!! Such fun! Got it running with a cheapo Chinese Bluetooth controller that took a bit of head scratching to get connected with the right mode but eventually cracked it. Loving the Jack Bro's game. But yeah looking forward to browsing the full catalogue that until now has been impossible to play! Very cool!
I currently have a virtual boy I got a few years ago. It’s actually the rental unit from blockbuster (still has the sticker on the headset and got the rental case). Also have a flash cart for it to load up any game I want basically; released, unreleased (Get Bound High!!!), rom hack, or original home brew game. They all work on this virtual boy emulator too! I might sell my virtual boy flash cart (Flashboy+) since it’s desirable to have and now my oculus go and oculus rift can play the games even better than the original. I think it’s better than the original just cause how big you can make the screen. But I do miss the original controller. So awesome though having this emulator!
I didn’t have a virtual boy when it first launched (wanted it badly, even though I was confused by its existence back then as well). I tested it at a kiosk at my local “Target” store here back in the 90s and played wario land. It was great. Finally got the real thing back in 2015 or so.
Enjoy your videos and enjoying the Oculus Go. Just asking if it's possible to get iPlayer to work in anyway ? I have tried watching via the browser, but no joy, and can't do the sideload thing as have no pc at the moment. Iplayer with downloads could be rather great for this system. Anyhow, great channel, thanks.
The virtual boy games are great but the virtual boy itself is not since it keeps getting lines on one screen and even methods claiming a permanent fix exist trying them does not work past a month at most This is the way VB games should be played in the dark without visor problems Only problem is for homebrew games because some of them only work on hardware and probably wont work with this emulator and the 2 player link cable doesn't work on this
Ive been trying to make this work for 5 days already. Problem is, unlike with other systems, VB roms default to full screen. And I can't find a way to customise it so it will fit MY lenses. No eye separation, no image width/height, etc.
Just loaded this up last night along with the gameboy emulator on my oculus go. Awesome experience!!! Any other emulators for the oculus go? Thanks again.
I've managed to put this on my 128GB oculus quest.. But how do you put the roms in the emulator? When I start the emulator there's no roms even though I've downloaded some roms and put them in a roms folder.
i cant rename the new Folder on the Oculus go to "Roms" because it is to short. How the hell i will can Play the VB roms without create the needed Foldername? Help? anyone? :(
100% of the peopel I invite over to check out my oculuis rift say holy shit holy fuck, i MUST HAVE THIS! HOW MUCH TO GET IT! then i tell them and they say, OK In will save up and eventualy get it. And before I v invite them over to try it, they have not thought about it.

"Swinging balls coming toward you" we know that feeling all to well.
Ok, I need this. I still have a VirtualBoy and really enjoyed it. Wario Land was one of my favorites along with Red Alarm.
It's great! []-)
This is two years ago, but... Those were the two games I had other than Mario Tennis, and I loved them both so much.
Wow!!!!! I remember when me and my friend tried to duct tape his virtual boy to our heads to simulate VR...22 years later there is finally a solution.
Welcome to the future Michael []-)

Major throwback! So exciting to be able to experience all these nostalgia-inducers again.
The nostalgia is real []-)
This Wario game looks really fun to play!

Yeah exactly! I heard that Vive are working on kiosks where new users can check out VR without needing staff to assist []-)
They did, they really did it!
Very awesome. So, do you feel like Nintendo did a good job with VR back in the day? Obviously the tech was more limited.
For 1995 tech, I think it did a decent job. You can clearly see the difference between the foreground and background layers []-)

Nice one SuperMikeKaos.....all the fun minus the neck strain and headaches []-)

Yeah, this is really comfortable to play. The Oculus Go is one of the most comfortable headsets out there []-)

No official options to screen sharing yet although there was rumour that they want to share the screen to the Oculus phone app []-)
Oh ok D: But Thank you! ^_^ Hope, there will be options in the future. :D
Never played this game! But I played the hell out of the first 3 Wario Land games as a kid, loved them

More emulators for Oculus Go please.. And links of course.. XD

Now we just need a 3DS emulator for the quest
I'm looking forward to checking this out. Just wanted to point out that Mario doesn't break bricks with his head. He punches them. ;). Great video!
Thanks dude []-)

Awesome! Thanks for the comment dude []-)
Now we need a mame emulator on the Oculus!
I loved wario on virtual boy I actually loved my virtual boy it never gave me headaches I played so much pinball and Mario tennis
I installed it and it is good fun to play. I highly recommend it.
I’m surprised Mike’s eyes didn’t start bleeding half way through
They did.....it was totally worth it []-)
going to give this a go. had a go of an original virtualboy with wario and was quite impressed but to be able to play all the others would be cool.
Awesome! Have fun Peter []-)

I don't think there is a solution right now. BBC should bring out an app! []-)
PLEASE TELL ME I CAN GET THIS ON THE RIFT
You should try teleroboxer. The game is really cool and good designs.
Also I got the vb on x-mas and it was axed by the time I opened it.
RIP VB []-)
does it work in rift too? If any other emulators for oculus please feature them in videos!
I think there is a virtual boy emulator available for Rift []-)
it would be cool if the background moved relative to your head position
maybe it needs a mod
The virtual boy games are great but the virtual boy itself is not since it keeps getting lines on one screen and even methods claiming a permanent fix exist trying them does not work past a month at most

Yeah, this is probably the best way to play these games now []-)

Is there any chance this will come out for the regular oculus rift ? I'd happily drop a fiver for it
I believe there is a virtual boy emulator for Rift already available somewhere? []-)
Awesome I'll have to do a bit of googling this weekend
Just loaded this up last night along with the gameboy emulator on my oculus go. Awesome experience!!! Any other emulators for the oculus go? Thanks again.
I'm sure CidVonHighwind will be coming to the rescue with more emulators soon []-)
Virtual Boy was DEFINITELY released in Europe.
What gamepad is good for Oculus Go?
Xbox One S (bluetooth) []-)
I'm having this!!!
Have fun Kevwolf []-)
I've managed to put this on my 128GB oculus quest.. But how do you put the roms in the emulator? When I start the emulator there's no roms even though I've downloaded some roms and put them in a roms folder.
Where do we get the roms for Virtual boy?
i played virtual boy at the kiosks when it came out. the emulator is real good. can't find wario land at the moment.
The emulator is awesome! []-)
Does it work for the Quest?
The best console known to man!!!! 😯😯😯 Lol. I actually like this system though seriously. Too bad it had so few games and always fell over. 😂😂😂
lol []-)
Why did it not last?
i cant rename the new Folder on the Oculus go to "Roms" because it is to short. How the hell i will can Play the VB roms without create the needed Foldername? Help? anyone? :(
Holy crap. I tried tetris for about five seconds and I might be blind now
RIP eyes.....10/10 would go blind again []-)
Anyone know if this works on the Quest 2?
It does cause I tried it today you need sidequest though
I seen a real Virtual Boy once! but I didn't have the money for it
Makes me want to find out how to color these games so they're not red.
why can't we convert games like gta into vr?
Wouldn't fit plus many more reasons
Does it make you want to vomit? If not, it's not a good emulation of the console... ;) :D
No vomit, no headaches.....not a real emulation lol []-)
100% of the peopel I invite over to check out my oculuis rift say holy shit holy fuck, i MUST HAVE THIS! HOW MUCH TO GET IT! then i tell them and they say, OK In will save up and eventualy get it. And before I v invite them over to try it, they have not thought about it.
Yeah, exactly! People need to see it to believe it []-)
I still have mine sitting in my closet
Calling old console games "apps" is just wrong
You are not a real virtual boy player if you don't play Jack bros
