One mindset that has finally sunk in now that I’m middle aged is this... happiness is not the measure of success. Happiness is an emotion in a vast sea of other emotions that ebb and flow in my life. They are a normal, human reaction to the world around me, not a thermometer for my inner world, my identity, if you will. I think we as humans get so hung up on feelings and emotions, pushing them down or medicating them if they are seemingly negative, and conversely parading them if they are seemingly positive. I have known more “happy” people who are so toxic, and “sad” people who are so amazing. Who knew?! Great video again, Meghan. Always thought provoking. Thank you!
The first one is so true, I recently graduated from uni with 17 others, and all of them apart from me already had a job to go to. I just couldn’t seem to get anything and I was so down about it. I thought I was going to have to move away from home to find work. Then suddenly I was invited for some trial days at a nearby hospital and was accepted. This hospital is better to its employees than other hospitals my classmates went to, pays better and is generally a nicer working environment. I’m so glad I didn’t give up and waited a little longer, as you said everything will work out in the end, sometimes even for the better. Thank you for being such an inspiration and wonderful person 👼🏼
My life-changing mindset is everytime I'm tempted to feel jealous of someone, to be inspired by them instead! For example, if someone seems to do a lot of travel, instead of being envious that they get to go traveling, I will always tell myself to inspired by them and modify my life or make plans so I can travel too! 💕 This works amazingly for your overall happiness and can be applied anytime no matter what you're tempted to be jealous of!
YES! I LOVE this tip. I've found this super helpful too. When we're able to use others' success or happiness as inspiration or a reminder that we are capable of achieving it too. If they can do it, so can we! Just gotta jiggle our priorities sometimes :) xx
Dear Meghan, many thanks for yet another really good video. I'll be 55 next year and can testify to the fact that as I got older I found that life was not as simple as I thought when I was young. But, like you, I have also found that I can do much more than I thought I could. I guess one gets there one step at a time, like going up a mountain. Sending many good wishes!
The biggest mindset change I’ve had recently was going from a “money is the root of evil” mindset to a “money is good, money is a tool”. Thank you Jen Sincero for helping me come to that revelation.
I hope this is encouraging- the quote "money is the root of all evil" isn't even true! It's a common mis quote from the Bible which really says "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil" (1 Timothy 6:10). It's just saying that money in itself is not evil but loving it too much can lead to problems for the person. So as said money is just a tool!
So true that we are stronger than we think! I remember many years ago I was at the pyramids in Mexico thinking that I would never climb them! That I would admire them from down there, and that would be it. But our guide took my hand and led me to the top! Wow! That was a great feeling! and I almost missed that because of my lack of belief in myself!
God is in control....ask him why he gives tiny babies diseases that kill them, ask him why he has countries where children starve to death or are shot dead by soldiers. Just ask him whats the positive value for this kind of suffering if hes in control.
I agreed with no.1. I just finished my PhD study after 6 years. Too many things happened and it's very difficult. I thought I couldn't complete it, but at the end, it worked out. I'm now submitting my hardbound thesis to the university. =)
I thrive on being uncomfortable. That may be masochism to some people, but I hate being in my comfort zone for too long (and "too long" for me generally means a few days and some people think I hurt myself by doing this). So, whenever I'm faced with 2 options, one being more "frightening" than the other, I usually pick the one that makes me the most uncomfortable, unless I have legitimate reasons to believe I should pick the other one. I see that, by doing this, I usually grow as a person and am more inclined to seek the next challenge and pick more challenging tasks upfront. Those who think I shouldn't do this are all people who like binging on Netflix and stick to what they know instead of exploring. I mean, there are times when it's okay to put this mindset aside just to recharge (when you're just exhausted or sick, or when you're dealing with grief), but your comfort zone should not be anything more than a safe space you know you can retreat if you need to, a bit like the homes of hunters back in the Prehistoric era. Likewise, if you're constantly avoiding your comfort zone, it may be an idea to look at what makes you respond that way because it can be equally unhealthy.
I love this. So so so true about how our thoughts govern our emotions. Like someone complaining that it is raining and a farmer somewhere rejoices. It is all about mindsets. I have some that I use frequently for course corrections when I feel my thoughts are too negative. 1) One Day's failure is now in the past. It literally does not exist anymore. (Like Anne of Green Gables, "Tomorrow is fresh, with no mistakes in it". lol "No mistakes in it yet") 2) When you try again, it erases all failures. and 3) Almost all emotional pain is from recalling a trauma, not from anything actually happening to you at the moment. Therefore, I can cut off this self-torture anytime I want.
Wow, I love all of these! Thank you so much for sharing! I especially love the Anne of Green Gables reference -- big fan of that quote :) Big hugs to you! xx
I really like your videos Meghan! Your voice is so soothing and calm and you inspired me a lot! God Bless and keep making more content! Much love from the Philippines! 😘❤️
Thanks Meghan! All the mindsets were really useful but the last one was really what I needed to hear tonight. You know, when you're in those moments in life considering seriously to give up.... And suddenly you get the notification of this video!. Has to be a signal :) Thanks! God, the universe or whoever/whatever you believe in, bless you xxxx
You are absolutely right, I had two miscarriages and since then I realized that I am stronger then I think. Thank for always bringing light in this world.
I learn so much from ur videos they are short and right to the point I wish I can change my mindset about driving on the highway I drive local fine it’s just a fear about getting on the highway that makes me get anxiety and I don’t know why 😩 and it’s holding me back from going so many places!
Hi Meghan, I'm a big fan of you and your channel. New fan so i'm enjoying watching your videos even more. I just wanted to let you know I really appreciate what you're doing I think you spread a genuine positive energy in your content. I also notice when I watch you- you're eyes look so hm not sure how to explain lol... it's like you're staring at me back - very present and it just says a lot about you I think. not sure if I said that clearly... but hopefully you get my gist. :P
do you find yourself vocalizing these mindsets through mantras? i’m trying to explore mantras as a technique that might work for me. i think it would make for a really great video from you!
miss Meghan livingstone my name is lau and i m from singapore I'm touch by the way you changed your mindsets , well done, life should be this way, thank, take care
recently i've been practicing turning negative situations into positive ones. training my mindset to do that was hard at first but it's getting easier. i love the tip on to just make it happen. love this video! xx
Your mindsets and lifestyle are soo inspirational. I look forward to all your posts and videos. I listen to them every morning. 😍 You should do a podcast ❤
your videos are perfect. really, there's no other word to represent. the edition is clean, your way to talk, all the content and how practical you put all this in a great, compact work. you have a talent! keep doing this amazing job. kisses from brazil!
I do belive in a way that I’m stronger than what I think, because I get through events & situations. I don’t think I’m strong at the time of the event/situation though
I love this video! I actually just watched a similar video from Pick Up Limes (th-cam.com/video/JtoylbJcH9g/w-d-xo.html) and she had a wonderful message as well: stop thinking “IF I have _____, THEN I will be happy”... Be grateful for what you have rather than focusing on what you don’t!
Do you have Botox? I only ask because you are a very expressive person, but it really looks like you have Botox because your face doesn’t really move. And only the top of your forehead moves? So I’m just really curious

I love this. Especially the ebb and flow part, and that negative/positive emotions needn't "define" us. Thank you for sharing!

I like you, you are very calm and soothing compared to a lot of shouting youtubers, thanks for the upload :)
Well thank you very much!! I'm not a fan of overly boisterous videos either. xx
