    Great review. The voice over/narration works great in my opinion. With any of those plastic honey gates which work great. I recommend changing the plastic bolts out for regular bolts. I have had several of them break with me after a couple of years of use.

    I have one but made changes to it . I secured the top to the bottom with stainless screws and used food grade silicone sealant and seal the outside . I leave the queen excluder grate in place and then place the fitted strainer on the top section. The grate holds the screen up . I also installed a flat rubber seal on the inside the lid in order to keep insects out (if there is any ) . I also installed legs to the tank to make it at the right comfortable height for uncapping frames . This thing is very durable.

      I have 2 of these uncapping tubs. We fill one sometimes with wax cappings while uncapping. The filter shown is a horrible idea in my opinion. Not much cappings make it through the grate and we filter when spigot is opened, as its goes into the bucket.

    • @kamonreynolds
      @kamonreynolds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not a comb honey guy. Gus Mitchell would have a good idea. He likes it for the speed, and uniformity of the cut so they all fit the containers perfectly. He also mentioned he has some help from time to time and the help can still cut them straight with this. I would guess a dozen or 2 of comb supers would be good for this thing? I don't really know

    Popular wood has a nice smooth surface when compared to other inexpensive types of wood. I used Popular to build a piece to cut soap bars, its also used for wheelbarrow handles. I believe Pierce makes some excellent equipment but the innovation does cost more.

    It’s a very nice uncapping tub. I used to use something similar Homemade but not nearly as nice.
    I think Pierce are really trying to make beekeeping products for Beekeepers, not just something close enough to maximize profit.

    i got one of these tanks last year, and was very happy with it! very sturdy, easy to clean up with just a hose. you can stack frames in the grooves on the top to stage them for your spinner, but they will likely fall over while uncapping your next frame on the screw though. mine came with more of a wire rack for the wax separator, but worked just fine. i did make one mistake though... when letting my bees rob out the remaining honey from the wax, i left the 2 stacked on top of each other, which resulted in alot of bees getting in the bottom and dying, which wasnt very good, so dont do that :(

    If only it would hold the frames. You could pull frames haul them inside they could drip down or after spinning load it up and take back ugh . Just one design improvement would have made this such a multitasking piece of equipment.

    Great review.
    Yes. Straining and filtering are different.
    I prefer the more gentle method of gravity as opposed to centrifugal force. I've read that whipping air and slamming it into the wall changes the flavor because it oxidizes it on the molecular level.
    ....but the general public doesn't get my top shelf stash. Only family and friends.
    I'm on the orange flow in Central Florida. It's just starting now.
    And I'm a big fan of poplar wood, too.

      This one works for deeps mediums and shallows to uncap into. However, it does not have a way to hold the frames in the tank

    I bought one of these used 25 years ago and still use it today. I do not use the straining cloth though, mainly because I never had one for it. I just use a straining bag in a bucket that I drain the honey from the bottom tank into before putting the honey in my bottling tank.
