So much more than a random backup catcher. Never seen a player become the heart of so many different organizations clubhouses. We love you, Stephen Vogt.

Yeah, such a shame after hitting his first 2 homeruns in the same game for the Braves, later in that same game, he got injured. Vogt was finding his groove when the injury occurred and really felt bad for him.

@@SchroederN8 he literally saved our catching spot. Without d'Arnaud for the last half of the season, all of our uninjured backups sucked ass behind the plate. Vogt didn't hit well, but the dude didn't make mistakes while actually catching.

As an A's fan who still flinches at the mention of those playoff series against the Tigers, thank you Stephen. For us A's fans born in the 90's that walk off in '13 is about as good of a memory that exists and with us getting a new park being up in the air it may be the best we get. What a time it was to be a fan of this team and of Vogt who was the embodiment of us die-hards and those still drumming out in right field this season amidst a 100-loss season with no definitive future in Oakland.

I managed to get my mom into baseball by taking her to a bunch of A's games in the 2015 and 2016 seasons, watching those pretty awful teams of the time. Even as the young core developed in 17-19, Stephen Vogt remained my mom's favorite player. Partially because of his unusual story, partially because of his antics, but I think mostly because of his memorable chant and walkup music.
My mom passed away last month, so Vogter announcing his retirement hit me especially hard. I will always appreciate him for being a big reason my mom and I came together around the A's in the past few years.

I hope he somehow sees this but we are diehard Rays fans- when he first came up he was in the middle of what ended up being I think an 0-26 slump to start his career- I had dugout seats for the first time in my entire fandom which I’ve been a fan since 98 so I’m as stoked. He had a rough game that day, believe he was 0-19 to that point and I remember he just got out and just stood there outside the dugout so obviously frustrated. He started to look around and looked up at the stands- I was also mad cuz I wanted us to win 🤣 we made eye contact and after a moment I gave him a quick raised fist like come man let’s you go you gonna get outta it- he sorta took a breathe and then nodded approvingly, I could tell he appreciated that- and then he eventually went on and tapped into his potential elsewhere. Always thought that was a cool moment and glad he had the career he had.

I'm gonna miss Steven Vogt, he was really an iconic part of the team during those years. Definately at least a local childhood legend to me. Screaming "I believe in Steven Vogt" alongside the stadium. The A's had a lot of momentum within the fanbase and it's really sad to see it fade away this year. I hope he has a great career with baseball after his retirement because he definately deserves it, always going to be one of my favorite players that's for sure. I'm quite sad that I didn't know he was retiring until now. Although I'm across the country from Oakland, I might call my parents and convince them to see an A's game just to see him play one last time before his retirement.

A lot of thoughts here as an A's fan ...
-I came frustratingly close to nearly catching that homer off the Royals.
-John Jaso should've been moved to DH once Vogt came up. Using a roster spot on a platoon DH is usually dumb, but he made that RHP lineup and his concussions were devastating.
-As great as Vogt's Game 2 walkoff was, his strikeout against Scherzer in Game 4 still haunts me.
-Before Vogt got DFAd in 2017, he played one last time in the outfield (left field, not right) and suddenly every ball got hit to him. It was hilarious, and he had way too much fun with it.
Overall, Stephen's just an awesome guy. He played long enough for his kids to have some actual memories of him playing, and he's one of those religious people who uses his faith to love everyone, rather than hate people who are slightly different than him. I hope he enjoys a couple relaxing years with his kids and then has a great coaching career!

The A's need to put this guy in their system somewhere as a coach but I know that will never happen. John Fisher is a pox on our once great team, going full on Rachel Phelps on the squad this season. I used to attend at least 10 games a season since '06 but this year I couldn't stomach two between the elevated ticket prices, reduced amenities and underwhelming on field product. Not even a Steven Vogt swan song could brighten my spirits unfortunately. For this life long A's fan, it's gonna take a while for me to get over this. I will add that I was never a big fan of the chant and I totally understand I am an outlier by stating this opinion. Great vid man, thanks for the hard work.
