I've lived here on this river as a kid.
Fishing in Deadmans bay with my grandfather in a fiberglass14ft. John boat. .. ... great place

I think of Dead Man's Bay every time I hear the Procol Harum song "A Salty Dog".

Pronounced "STEEN-hatchee", and watch out for pigmy rattlers.
And Roy's potato salad is a food group to itself.
Next time you're in the area, head up to Live Oak to the Dixie Grill.

Further south near Dunnellon is the Rainbow River. Has a huge sping area now a state park. Beautiful clear spring water.

You should visit it first-hand. A little further down the river you start getting into a bit of brackish water, and see some of the estuary.
And Roy's is the place to eat.
If you get up to Live Oak, try the Dixie Grill.

There used to be a ton of really cool, smaller springs all over that area of the state. There was one near Perry called Waldo Spring; out in the boonies, little small pull off. There were several others along that river. Like most springs in that area of the state though, I believe they predominately dried up.

Great video. I like your videos, they're all really interesting. We love Florida, we go at least once a year for 2 weeks, or sometimes twice. We're from the UK do it's s long flight but worth it. Supposrd to be doing a roadtrip a few weeks ago to Texas for a change. Cancelled to covid! Oh well. 😞 Keep posting videos please.

In Pennsylvania we would call that the beginning of the rapids where we would check to ensure that all of our camping and fishing equipment and coolers are securely fastened because that would be a sign that more white water is ahead. In Florida that is a "falls" and I love it. My driveway has an elevation change of about 100 feet so I dream of being able to make it up my driveway after a snowstorm without having to plow and throw $20.00 worth of salt after every flurry. I am getting too old for this crap and Florida or anywhere in the south is looking more and more appealing.

Well well. It seems I'm running into you on TH-cam. Saw you doing campgrounds. I'm planning to stay on a friend's private property right on the Suwannee River next week, Old Town, FL. I'm planning some places to go do some filming. Now I have a better idea of Steinhatchee falls and now I can not worry about parking my Casita trailer there and do my filming.. now I know to bring me a stick and watch out for moccasins.
My dad used to go to Steinhatchee and fish for the speckled trout back in the '50s he loved it down there.
If you ever get a chance and you're around O'Brien Florida check out Little River Springs, lot of people go there cave diving. Here's a video:th-cam.com/video/HFsmbgll0Fg/w-d-xo.html
    Safe travels!

Always be mindful and let others know when you see snakes like that. I know those other people were upstream of where you saw it but where there is one there are probably others.

Steinhatchee has got to do somthing with the Germans. Stein is stone and hatchee is a beef with union recipe.
