I have a sportster 1200 myself (2006) and the Breakout is the bike I've always had my eye on since the year it first came out. Good looking ride man! Keep it up!
Nice bike. You are right that light is small but could also be brighter. I hope you switched it out for an LED. When you were riding towards the camera, it was not visible at all.
@@LaBestiaHumanaMXgreat review my friend. I saw one with a larger headlight. The shape reminded me of the old school headlight you would find on an old Schinn bicycle from the 60s or 70s. To be honest it looked like a pimple sticking out of the front. Didn't look good at all in my opinion. I like how discreet the stock one looks. I think it's fitting. If I did anything I would upgrade the bulb a keep the stock housing. I don't own one of these bikes, yet, but am looking. I'm 5'5" as well and the appreciate your input. One thing thats often mentioned is the angel at which you can lean the bike over and am wondering if this has been much of an issue for you. I do like to lay a bike over at times when cornering.
I rode one. My only complaint is (stock) the handle bars seem a bit far forward. If they had a riser to bring them back an inch or 2 it'd be perfect. This was during a demo ride. Everyone I was there with agreed. The only guy who like where they were was like 6'6".
Very nice information on your breakout. I just picked up mine last month and I am only 5’6 tall. But I can still plant my feet flat and forward controls are good for me. I lowered the rear 2 inches so it’s more comfortable for me. Thanks for the video 👍
well its my dream bike..but i believed the pegs are too forward set for my height.. 5'5'' again :D Watching u ride this gives me hope. cheers. Nice video
I have to agree about where they mounted the plate holder, it does stick out. but the upside you get to see that bobbed fender and lights and it looks very nice. I'm sure the aftermarket would offer a plate holder that you can mount it on the swing arm. and as far as sound. it sounds very good, and comparing it to a sportser, they sound nice to but the idle is so different. needless to say the idle on all HD has changed over the years.
I want this exact bike. I was all for the vrod until I saw this. going to be an adjustment eventually as I'm on a ducati monster 796 now. totally different riding position and geometry. Maybe 1-2 more years. plan to keep both though. the Duc and this.
Looks awesome...I've seen some plate holders that go down on the axle in a vertical somewhat curved look. Only good If the jurisdiction will allow vertical plates.
fantastic bike + fantastic rider = fantastic video! I am thinking about buying a breakout too, but I am only about 5'7, about 170 cm. Do you think I will be able to handle the bike?
Great video. very informative. because of your height, you spoke about the difficulty of reaching the pedals once you're in high speed. What would you recommend to anyone of your height, the softail slim or a breakout? BTW, I'm 5'7" and undecided over whether to buy a softail slim or the breakout. I am currently riding an Iron 883. I like the breakout look but prefer to have a bike which I can better handle. When I heard that you had difficulty reaching the pedals at high speed I am beginning to lean more towards the softail slim.
Without any changes or modification the Slim, Fat Boy and deluxe models are better fitted. For the Breakout, the Reduced reach seat is a must for us short people. It moves you forward and won't require pedal modifications.
the best looking bike , i had a 07 Sportster 1200XL ,2012 street Bob and a 96 wide glide , this bike " Breakout " is some else , today I went to Harley Dealer to see it up close and just loved it , little to pricey " Base Price starting @$18,799 +TTL , plus all other crap that they charge you ,your looking at around $22,000 ...almost as much as my Pickup Truck ....but as the Brother comment says down below ,either your a Harley Guy or your not ...if you are, this is the ultimate Harley . ....enjoy the rid Bro.
+Mark Griswold Joke is on you buddy. On the breakout the horn is on the front, and the grenade ignition switch is where the horn usually sits on "most" bikes.
Thanks for the video... I like the sound, it is a little bit on the loud side, but much better than stock. Does it get old on the highway at cruising speed? Are you wearing ear plugs when you ride or are you going deaf? lol... Sharp scooter... !
My new setup is actually much louder. It doesn't get old at all, depending on how sensitive people are to noise, it will depend how much each individual can tolerate. I've been playing drums for 17 years, been with some loud bands and my vision and hearing are perfect. Long and frequent exposure to really loud music is what can potentially damage hearing. Weekend cruises on your Harley ain't gonna damage anyone's hearing.
When i bought mine i ask about removing the baffles and was told by the tec. that the motor needed back pressure and removing the baffles with out remapping the engine would damage the motor and in effect make the warranty void
+David Boisen Lies, Lies, Lies. I asked my dealer too, they said. "Baffles can be removed and since the headers are the same the bike doesn't need to be re-tuned." I rode it for 5 months and ran just fine. I replaced the intake and exhaust this winter, so I tuned it then. Motor runs perfectly fine.
+Edilson Santos I'll check and see if I didn't throw them out. All I did was remove the tips, and with an electric drill, drill out the 3 rivets. Once that's done, with a piece of wood and hammer, tap the core out and you're done. It will take you an hour at most if you have basic tools, drill and 2x2 piece of wood.
Guys, I'm 5'7" and absolutely like the look of this bike. Never had a Harley before. Do you think it'll suit me or shall i start with a Sportster first? Cheers

Are you still riding your Breakout? How many miles have you put on it? How are the tires holding out? I test rode one yesterday to compare against my Sportster; no comparison. The bikes are two different animals. They serve different purposes.
+Rick Schad I last rode it 3 weeks ago, on a weekend ride. Has been sitting in the garage collecting dust. If weather permits, I will ride this coming saturday for the Toys for Tots Chicago ride. Video coming in shortly. As soon as the weather permits. Chrome SE Heavy Breather, Black SE breather cover, Fuelpack 3, Big Radius 2-2, LED Daymaker headlamp, grips, pedals, reduced reach seat and sundowner passenger seat for the wifey. Debating whether or not I get some turbine wheels.
thanks for the video bro, but can you tell me how for you can go on a full tank before the fuel light comes on? my vrod only goes 90 miles and my light comes on. i think i can get almost 120 on a tank cause i barely got to the gas station before it started acting like it was empty):
Hi Buddy , did you do any upgrade to your bike ? if you did , please upload some videos. another question, you said you remove the baffles. is this recommended as I read some advice not to remove it. , cheers
Hey there!! I did upgrade the bike and uploaded a vid a few months. Look at my latest uploads. Removing the baffles is totally safe. I confirmed with my local dealer and online. I also rode my bike for 8 months and ran great.
thank you for the fast reply, the bike looks great , I am planning to do mine as well but I will get the chrome pipe. It's just preference. and again thank your for sharing your video
rodrigogroff360 Thanks. I'm 5ft 5in tall, way on the short side. The reduced reach seat(not shown in vid) set my feet a bit closer to the ground, while moving me slightly forward. Very comfortable bike for me.
hello, im also 5'6" tall and never ridden a mc before, im gonna buy myself a scrambler 62, its 400 cc, after i ride it for a season or so, would it be ok for me to buy this bike or should i go for sportster first? thank you.
The Dynas and Softails are only about 120lbs heavier. Check out theDyna Low rider, or the FatBoy Lo, both are great bikes and handle great. The breakout is a bit difficult to lean compared to most bikes. The forward controls are easy to get used to, but may make you feel uncomfortable/insecure at first.
Andrew brack I have the vertical mount license plate bracket that follows the line just above the belt guard, it has the LED strip above the entire width of the license plate. Looks bad ass! I was looking for a new bike in 2014 and I thought about getting the breakout but here in Canada the 2014 was $24,000 I got a Victory Jackpot instead it was only $17,500 for the 2014( both prices in the spring of (2014)
Leona197 yeah I kind of thought the breakout looked like an old man's bike but I thought it would look better with some upgrades but factory it looks like a grandpa should be riding it... but if you like the way that breakout look breakout looks you definitely would like the way the hammer looks with the new rear fender the breakout also can look really nice with some upgrades
totljag1 It's harder to lean due to the wide rear tire, by hard I mean you actually have to put a bit of muscle. I only do city rides, 2-3 hours, and it's pretty comfortable. Longer rides may call for a windshield.
Leona197 it's a hot looking bike though ! I love the 2017 in black with those wheels they put on it ! It's bad ass ! I'm just not sure I want to pay 20 k for a new bike again ! I already did that 3 x lol
+BeaglePower G OK, I'm gonna sound like a biased fanboy here and maybe I am, but the Raider is ugly as sin. It came up, while I searched for Breakout alternatives and I personally never liked it. The brekout is way cleaner and bolder.
Pay attention kids , never buy a sporty for yourself unless your a very tiny person who don't ride expressways, every last person I've known that's bought a sporty has upgraded to a big twin soon after , I've still got an old iron head sporty ( amf bottom ) that has the rear brake & shifter reversed where the heel toe shift is on the right , it's funny watching experienced riders try n ride that old sporty lol , I've got a 55 panhead with tank shift & mousetrap foot clutch nobody can ride except other old timers like me , I like the new HD's & I'm super glad they didn't chose to go ape shit with too big a rear tire , those big dogs with a 60 slick on the rear look laughable .
Leona197 very true but if it were me I'd buy a used big twin for the same amount of a new 883 , they are just way too small . If people just put around town a sporty is fine , for long runs or expressway riding with a group of guys you'll beat a little 883 to death trying to keep up with the pack , people can score used buell lightning's now in great shape for about $3 grand if economy is the main issue , and when its time to jump to a big twin they've still got a Harley crotch rocket that won't get moth balled .
My sporty was 7400. If you find a Dyna at that price, you're gonna be wondering if you made the right call especially if you're not very knowledgeable. Buying new has its perks, HD sometimes sends offers that buy back sportys at great prices if you buy a big twin. If you finance, interests are generally lower on new bikes, and they come with warranty. Is a 2003 Wide Glide with 60k on it going to be worth it if it wasn't well maintained? Who really knows?
This is noting but a copy of the 2008/09 Harley Rocker C; however, the Rocker C was a much better bike, Harley designers of today have really lost their way, 2008 was the last time i bought a Harley and that was my 2008 Rocker C. I used to buy a new bike every few years, I still have my Rocker C, but nothing Harley has put out over the last 10 years even come close. The last bike i bought was a 2015 Indian Chief Vintage , beautiful bike. I do like the 2017 Harley Road King, but leaning towards the 2017 Indian Chieftain. Going to the motorcycle show in January and will decide then which i buy, but at this point, its looking like the Chieftain
***** Thanks. Winter is finally here in Chicago and also first Upgrade, while in storage. I ordered the "black" Big Radius from RevZilla for 618usd shipped. Gotta love Cyber Monday.
On automobiles, yes of course, ABS is anti-lock braking system. It has been since the 80s. But Harley Davidson calls it Advanced Braking System, even though it's the same thing.
I'm picking up my breakout on Monday. Can't wait to ride with my boys.
The Breakout is the best looking Harley production bike. Enjoy and ride safe.
TakMan1690 Harley Boy I gotta agree with you here lol
+TakMan1690 Harley Boy
VROD - second place? in my opinion.
+TakMan1690 Harley Boy That's all it is, looks. Overpriced paint and chrome with a colicky old tractor motor. Junk.
haha kinda agree

Very comfortable, plus it comes with forward controls.
Leona197 nice! Im only 17, but I love this bike and wouldnt mind one in the future :P
+Wiikendz Nice, I'd recommend a bike over a cheap car. It will hold nice value, if you take care of it.

Nah, I recommend buying something you really want. Nothing wrong with having a sporty either. If there is a bike you like a lot, just go for it.
thank you:) im more like afraid of its huge weight...
Nah man im very obsessed with breakout, thank you for your replies. Have fun with your gorgeous bike/ride safe ^^
Buy a Breakout and don't look back.

my rear tire is fatter ..250mm I almost got a break out but I got the Victory Hammer S instead
+Modern gun guy Well it does cost less and as long as you are happy, that's what matters.
Leona197 yeah the cost wasn't the problem I just wanted the better bike... but some of the extra features that the breakout had made it very tempting
+Modern gun guy Better is subjective. Just like looks. I think the the Hammer is ugly as sin, while some think it's good looking.

how does it ride ? is it comphy ?
totljag1 It's harder to lean due to the wide rear tire, by hard I mean you actually have to put a bit of muscle.
I know it's a Harley, but the Star/Yamaha Raider is a Hot Bike too,,looks basically the same, but about 5k le$$
The thing about Sportys is the price. An 883 is like 5-6k cheaper than the entry Dyna.
Leona197 well buy what you like ,it is what it is .
Hello is there anybody out there that might anything about my issue with the starter on a 2015 H.D.softtail breakout
James Delacruz what’s wrong with your starter?
Ya them bars suit that bike
Snake Bite they made it better and more bad ass.

ABS is anti-lock braking system lol not Advanced braking system
On automobiles, yes of course, ABS is anti-lock braking system. It has been since the 80s. But Harley Davidson calls it Advanced Braking System, even though it's the same thing.
+Leona197 good to know.👍
Don't get me wrong, I love Harley's just not worth what they ask for
+permachoob Completely worth it to me.
