    If that is the gap size for tuned applications what is the gap size for untuned B58’s?

    If you're like me and looking for every last once of power and are not big turbo. Say bm3 stage 1 or 2 with or with ethanol. Go the biggest gap you can get away with. I found .25 is perfect. Won't misfire yet big enough to provide a good burn. You always want the biggest gap you can safely run. A lot of people think since smaller gap is used in high hp cars that small is better. They're running the biggest gap they can without misfires. It's all about cylinder pressure. The higher the pressure the harder it is for the plug to fire properly and closing the gap helps it reduces distance the spark has to jump.

    Great content as usual! I wish your shop was in my area :) Where do you take the gapping and the torque tightening from?

    • @johnungvarsky8875
      @johnungvarsky8875 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spark plug gap for a tuned car is usually specified by the tune that you purchase such as BootMod3, or by the custom tuner who you use.
      The spark plug torque specification might be found in the owner’s manual in the glove box, or an aftermarket manual such as the Bentley Manual, or on some aftermarket websites or BMW forums.

    Another great video, Bryan!
    One tip that I have for those who own a bench vise. I put a microfiber towel around the spark plug and clamp it in place in the bench vise. Then with the plug held in place, it’s easy to hold the feeler gauge in one hand and adjust the gap with the other. It’s quick and easy to gap six plugs with the help of a bench vise.

    How much of a difference would a .23 make vs .22? What influences the gap when working with a tuner? I.e., why would they increase or decrease? Thanks for the great video!

      The stock spark plug and the stock gap is perfectly designed by BMW factory engines for your engine. But a highly tuned car is forcing a lot more air and fuel into each cylinder. Now there is a lot more in the way preventing the spark from jumping the gap as intended. Reducing that gap can get things back in synch. A custom tuner may look at your logs and suggest that you open or close your plug gap to fine tune your engine.

      If you enter your car’s information into a retailer’s website, it is typically only going to show you maintenance parts that are stock. For something like these spark plugs, which are an upgrade based on your tune, you would have to search based on the manufacturer and part number of the part.

    • @jaybeezero
      @jaybeezero 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Gen 1 is 94201. For the Gen 2 it is 96206. The 95248 is the exact same as the 94201 - just updated with a new part number.

    Can I use these plugs even if my m340 isn't tuned or have a bigger turbo????

    • @ganuv
      @ganuv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes but not a .022 gap , on stock motor .030 to .032 is perfect, when you tune it you need a smaller gap of .022.
