According to my watch, knitting and winding yarn is absolutely a sport! I get exercise credit for working with my yarn everyday! 🤩 😂. Congratulations on your well-deserved ribbon!! ❤
Congrats on your blue ribbon spin! 🎉 Just proves yarn is a sport, and you’re a winner!! You may feel you went overboard with acquisitions but I think you did fabulous and truly believe everything happens for a reason. 😊❤
Nice seeing you back. We all need to take some time for ourselves. ❤️🤗. You always find such great stuff! Love the yarn is a sport shirt and bag. They go perfectly with your emotional support chicken. ❤️🧶
Please don't feel bad about buying yarn and fiber. It is such a delight to see what you've purchased and brings joy to those of us who live in the boonies of Oregon with NO local yarn shops. It also supports all those indie dyers, wool doesn't have an expiration date, and the prices are only going to go up so you're saving money by buying it now. (That's my line anyway). Also I love wearing black so I knit black things all the time, no problem. Just use good light if you're doing anything tricky. Glad to see you. Take care.
Thank you for sharing your achievement. It was very interesting listening to the judges remarks. Your spun yarn is gorgeous Cheval. Also yarn is sport. Lol. I can't wait until I see the progress of your next sweater too.. The book is so precious. Blessings
I watch Breakdown at times. I enjoy hearing the stories her guests share. I am glad knitting is a sport. At my age it is the only “competition “ I want to participate in. 🤣
I call it my grief yarn- the yarn that I spun as wool therapy after my brother died. It helped me untangle and deal with my thoughts and pain, but everything about that yarn shows that it helped me process my grief. I'm happy for both of us that we had the comforts of wool and spinning to console us. 💜
OMG, Chevy, your eyes are beautiful today! Congrats on the win and thanks so much for all the information. It is such a joy to tune in to your shit show. Yarn is the BEST sport!
Great podcast. I love your enthusiasm. Your spirit is infectious. My knitting sport is shawls. I’m always making shawls. I’m glad you had so much fun at the festivals. ❤ Love you! ❤ PinkShawlGirl 💖💖
Love you girly❤❤❤ you make me feel good......which takes a lot to-do for a 73 old lady!!! Yarn is a sport. Yarn is a sport...and unlike deer season and Turkey season...... .this yarn is a sport lasting always!
Love the Michigan Fiber Festival in Allegan!!! I’ve missed the last couple of years…darn it!!! Also, I’m impressed that you have a family member that is a rug hooker…I’ve dabbled in that as well.😊
Sport weight yarn, your fit bit reads knitting and crochet as steps. I can run a marathon from my couch. I’m not as fit as Dan so I’ll take this type of athleticism any day. 😂 Your enabling was so nice to see. The finger puppets and mushroom are so stinking cute. Interesting notes on the judging. Thank you Dan for the footage. (Assuming it was Dan)
Hello Chevas, Congratulations on your first place ribbon! I will check out the Yarn is a Sport site, sounds great. Thanks so much for the reviews on the yarn festivals and well, all of it. I appreciate the info about the book on loss and the group giving care for the last days. I lost 3 one day shy of a year. And I am so sorry for your loss of your dad and step father-in-law. Keep your head up… you are awesome
"Until everyone in the grocery store is a murderer..." Me too!!! So I've had to take many a break in my true crime tv watching. Well, and my adult kids got tired of getting frantic calls of me thinking something horrific happened to them. 😂 Another good episode, Chev... And of course yarn is a sport! 😉😊
My sport these days are tinking (mainly) and playing yarn chicken. Going to Lambtown, my only fiber fest of the year this weekend. Very exciting to see and touch yummy things. My best to you, Dan, and Mama Jean.
Wow that black and rainbow Deep Dive yarn is fantastic!! Why yes, Jereth DID look particularly majestic 😍 Gotta love, fear, obey the Goblin King 💖 Yarn is a sport for sure, lol! I'm so excited that you gave us a video on my birthday 🥳 Also I loved the watercolor! 🎨
Congratulations on your win! I was in Yellow Springs for the Wool Gathering, too. I loved it so much! Now that is a real sport to shop at a fiber fest! Thanks for always brightening my day! I hope you have a good Halloween!
Thank you for that reference book. My mom lost her dog a year ago this month, snd her dog was my #1 and I loved him like he was my own, snd he and I had the special bond. He knew my mom was his mom, but he knew I was the favorite BFF. He was my true BFF and I grieve that dog to this day. Thanks for all of the info. I watch some of Mayim’s podcasts on mental health too! You rock!!
I’m sorry for your loss😞 When I was younger, I asked my dad why we kept getting pets because it hurts so bad when they died. He said it’s because the joy they bring us while they’re here is worth having to say goodbye. I remind myself of those words often.💜
“I will binge watch Dateline until I think everyone in the grocery store is a murderer…” 😂 Thank you for that. It’s been a less than stellar week, and your episode was just what I needed. 💜🌻 You made me laugh and brought a tear to my eye as well. Reminding me what it means to be human; you have a gift.
My hubs and I have made a sport of watching aaallll the crime shows. Here's how you know someone will be the next victim: They are in the house at night with the lights on and aaallll the curtains wide open!!
Congrats on your blue ribbon! Joan is one of the most knowledgeable fiber artists I’ve ever met. I skipped Allegan this year and totally went whole hog in Ann Arbor last weekend. No more for me for a bit! 😂
Congratulations on winning 1st prize, thats awesome! Loved the video. Sorry im not commenting along the way like i normally do but trying to get in as much watch time as i can, which isnt much, so just watching and waiting till the end to comment. Have a great day!
So happy to see your beautiful face lady! Yarn is definitely a sport, like when you go on a knitting cruise and at each port is a yarn shop (or 2 or 3), and you challenge yourself to walk to each one…..even if they are 4 miles away and uphill! 😂
I was waiting for part 2, as I had attended Michigan Fiber Festival and wanted to hear your thoughts. I was surprised when you started talking about Joan, as she is married to my brother. Congratulations on your first place, and thank you for sharing the video of Joan judging.
Congratulations on your ribbon!! I got my wheel in March and only now made a skein that MIGHT be usable, lol. Be proud of that ribbon because you certainly earned it. Don't feel bad about a little retail therapy. When we're stuck, we sometimes need to jump start our creativity to put us on the right path. That green fiber is delicious. I can't wait to see what you do with it. 9 inch circs are the only way I can fly. Ray has been slacking in his '9 inch' duties so I thank you for stepping up. I appreciate the giggle.
My yarn floats could part of the long jump sport. My yarn sport warm up is a swatch . See you at the Olympics or under the Bridge this sport never stops knitting.
Oh I have never been good at sports but if yarn is a sport I am pro status! So sorry to hear about your Dad hope the grief soon turns into just the beautiful memories (same for Mama Jean). The audio podcast that I turn to for relaxation and times when I just need to be me is My Favorite Murder. Chevus I think you would love the 2 gals that tell the stories. I listened to one of their newer ones and went directly to Episode one to listen to them all! It helps take my mind off the breast cancer diagnosis I got this summer. My family thinks that it is a strange way to cope. Mybe so, but that is me, LOL. Thanks for all that you share...
I’ve listened to those when I’m in the car! Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Sending healing vibes from Indiana. There must be something to this true crime thing and coping. Glad to hear I’m not the only one.💜💜💜
OMG! I like True Crime toooo, I love AnieElise from 10 to life. OMG! I'm so excited that there, in this big world, there is someone who knit and watch true crime like me 😅 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I crochet because im not a sport kinda gal lol if drinking electrolytes on the couch while i sweat over a difficult pattern counts IM IN lol enjoyed your video today and always appreciated your quality content 💜
It's definitely a sport. We stretch before and after the activity. Sometimes it's a sprint to finish a gift before a special occasion, other knits are a marathon (half and half shawl😊). There's knitter injuries (wrist, elbow and shoulder). And we watch videos and commentaries, have contests, travel to events, and root for favorite teams. How is it not a sport?
Since Yarn is a Sport, I think knitting is also and should be recognized as an Olympic category. Here's why; you need stamina, focus, mental acuity, muscle strength and a love of the sport to succeed. However, unlike other sports, you end up with a finished product that can be admired by all for decades to come. Happy knitting.
I'm currently suffering a yarn sport injury. I really need to take some time off from knitting but I've only been able to manage 3-4 days!! (And I crocheted during those days) lol
Oh gosh😝 you sound like Dan when he gets hurt doing triathlon. I told him that he needs to take a break so that he can come back stronger, but does he listen? Nope.😏
Yarn is totally a sport. Look how much you have to do...wind it up...arm and hand muscles worked as well as leg muscles if you stand. Then you have to cast it onto the needles and that can be quite an undertaking if you have a lot of stitches....lots of finger and hand movements as well as wrist involvement if you're doing a Turkish cast on and don't forget about all that brain power to focus on counting and using proper tension. Then comes the knitting...shifting of the yarn along the needles with grip strength, holding your arms up so you can see what you're doing...engages the shoulders and back. Then after you've been sitting a while, you realize you're hunching so you suck in your gut (abdominal engagement), drop your shoulders, shift your weight to evenly balance between your butt cheeks (gluteal engagement) and get back to it. If you switch back-and-forth between your hands or are doing two-handed colorwork, you are totally exercising the hand muscles equally. Therefore yarn (and knitting) = sport! 😝
According to my watch, knitting and winding yarn is absolutely a sport! I get exercise credit for working with my yarn everyday! 🤩 😂. Congratulations on your well-deserved ribbon!! ❤
Your Witching Hour is going to be GLORIOUS!!!!! ❤❤️🔥🩸
Knitting is definitely a sport- knitting a Stephen West MKAL is definitely a marathon! 🧶🧶🧶🧶💕 That was quite the haul, Chevas! Great shopping!
Working with yarn truly is a sport. I vote that it becomes an event in the Olympics!!!😄
You know I’d watch!
Yarn has to be a sport, so I can be an athlete! Love your show as always! 🧶🥇Congratulations on your ribbon and thank you for sharing the judging!
Please don't feel bad about buying yarn and fiber. It is such a delight to see what you've purchased and brings joy to those of us who live in the boonies of Oregon with NO local yarn shops. I am glad knitting is a sport. At my age it is the only “competition “ I want to participate in. 🤣
Fun episode! Loved watching the singles spin judging. Congrats on your win! Love the Field of Flowers yarn!
Always love the podcast. I do believe yarn is a sport. Especially an mystery knit or knit alongs. Everyone must have endurance to knit the stash.
I call it my grief yarn- the yarn that I spun as wool therapy after my brother died. It helped me untangle and deal with my thoughts and pain, but everything about that yarn shows that it helped me process my grief. I'm happy for both of us that we had the comforts of wool and spinning to console us. 💜
Awww, i love that!!!
Of course yarn is our sport, we practice, we watch (you) to learn, and we are all dedicated like many professional athletes! Go team knit!
OMG, Chevy, your eyes are beautiful today! Congrats on the win and thanks so much for all the information. It is such a joy to tune in to your shit show. Yarn is the BEST sport!
Not only is yarn a sport but the future yarn Olympics will be coming.

Yarn is DEFINITELY a sport. ✌😉
I finally got around to watching this. I've missed your face and this two- parter was a real treat!
Sport weight yarn, your fit bit reads knitting and crochet as steps. I can run a marathon from my couch. I’m not as fit as Dan so I’ll take this type of athleticism any day. 😂
Your enabling was so nice to see. The finger puppets and mushroom are so stinking cute.
Interesting notes on the judging. Thank you Dan for the footage. (Assuming it was Dan)
I suck at every kind of sport, which is why my hobbies all involve being able to sit while I do them. Congratulations on your fibre festival win.
Congratulations on the win! The judging was so interesting, definitely a sport. Thanks!
