I'm South African, we used to pick up porcupine spines in the veld. Porcupines regularly shed their spines which they grow back. You are blessed receiving that amazing quilt! It is a stunner.

THAT QUILT!!!!! Brought tears to my eyes, because we know just how much work went into it, how much love went into it, and how treasured it will be. Cole is growing up way too fast. Give yourself grace with the firsts of the holiday seasons and such. For me the second year was harder, because time is going so quickly, it was a kick in the pants to realise how much time had passed, and things were getting back to ‘normal’ without Mum there. Hennifer, might have come at just the right time. Thank you for putting out the episode today. Oh thank you! When I “do” my makeup I powder my t-zone for shine, use Benefit Gimme Brow on my eyebrows, eye shadow, mascara, chap stick and if I’m feeling randy, a touch of blush. That’s literally it😝

I found that I had similar issues with my socks. I found that using a size 1 1/2 needle kept my hands from cramping and I still liked the fabric I got 😊

May I suggest a 1.5 needle size for socks. You could also knit the tops in a two and change over to 1.5 right before you start the heel flap or whatever type you are using
I don’t think they have the bulky but The Loop in Halifax Nova Scotia definitely has the sock yarn in Greenwich Dunes that you can order online. Fleece Artist and Handmaiden yarns as well as Mineville Yarns are all sister yarns. All their yarns are beautiful.

I’m a loose knitter so I knit socks on a size 0! If I use DK I can go up to a size 2. ChiaGoo does make a 1.5 size so maybe try that for your socks or go to 72 stitches but guessing they’d be way too big.
I have the same issue with my socks. I use size 2 needles with 64 stitches, but they've started to either be too big or stretch out quickly. I tried size 1 needles with 64 stitches and they are snug. I went to the New England Fiber Festival for the first time this year and bought a set of size 1.5 dpns. When I get some of my current WIPS off my needles I'm going to cast on with the 1.5s and 64 stitches and see if that makes a difference. And I hear you on the holidays without a parent. My mom passed away the day before Halloween. I had my first Thanksgiving without her. Some days are harder than others. I hope you have a Happy Holiday!

I use size 2 for cuff and leg and switch to size 1 when I start the heel flap and through the foot/toe on 64 stitches. Best of both worlds!!!

The cramps will go away. I went down to a size 0 last year because of the same thing. I even go all the way down to a size 00 when I do ribbed socks.
