What is amazing is that Satie did not want his music to be paid attention, it was written as background music. Supposedly he got infuriated by people paying close attention to it. I think he’s one of the most underrated composers. I love nothing more than putting on my best headphones and listening to every note and intonation. Vinheteiro, yours is my favourite, everything else seems poorly phrased, your subtlety is perfection. It makes me sad the Satie would be angry that I am paying such attention but happy that it exists.
Most other versions available for easy listening are too slow in my opinion. Honestly if you take the song too slow then you pay attention to it just enough to fall asleep. This is background music that will always be appreciated.

This song plays as part of my son's Tonie Box nighttime playlist. I heard it just after my grandfather died and it perfectly captures how I felt about the process. It sounds like a song from Minecraft because it shares some chords with the song.
