I'm a retired military pilot and feel great admiration for this woman as those are the shoulders we stand on today. My Mama trained as an airplane mechanic during WWII so I always had a very open mind to women in aviation.
Elizabeth graciously came to my classroom in the 1980's and met my students, then we went to Flying Cloud Airport and she shared her early flying days as she sat in one of the type of planes she flew in WWII. Never forget that day. Sai Simonson
It is good to see these heroic women finally getting recognition for their contribution to Americas freedom. MPR taped this interview during AirExpo 2009, presented by Wings of the North at Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie, MN. Liz is a terrific lady who has been part of AirExpo for over 10 years and is planning to attend AirExpo 2010 in July.
Elizabeth mentioned ex Wasp had difficult to get civilian flying jobs after the war. Now, it was not just misogyny nor prejudices. Even if it was factors. There were also lotsa of ex military pilots wishing job....

Why didn't the women pilots get together after the war and start their own flying service? Many male pilots went that route. There were plenty of DC-3s available at cheap prices. No balls?
