In Him Jimi lives!... & He inspired the School of Yngwie. Ulrich is my absolute favourite axe hero. Thanx

I would like to see Ulrich use his white Strat for this tour. As cool as he has got the effects going with the sky guitar I feel it would sound more like what I believe the scorpions fans want to hear. The way it sounded in 1977.... that would be really cool

A lot of it was the amp. He called it the beast. I saw many of the greats. But when I saw Uli in 85 I walked out into the street across from Wrigley Field in Chicago and people were talking and cars were going by and I heard nothing. I was on the 2nd floor and was lucky to have the wall to lean on and the sound waves came directly at us. I heard a whoosh and cymbal clang until noon the next day and slowly got my hearing back. But it was the amp and it was crystal clear. Hiroshima sounded like the LP except better right from the start where it sounds like an old planes propeller winding up Amazing. In 2004 he did Vivaldi and it was just him and that was mind-blowing as well but different. He grew.

Uli Jon Roth was the master of whammy bar effect in the seventies and he is still the master as we have been seen in that video from 2017 and he's far from being young, i was lucky to see Uli live as a guest of the mighty Scorpions, 40 years after he left Scorpions and he is as good as ever, this man is phenomenal, thanks Tim for sharing and God bless the unbelievable Uli Jon Roth.

I've seen yngwie malmsteen, Micheal Angelo, Vinnie Moore, pat Metheny, play LIVE. All of them great guitarist. Micheal Angelo was jaw dropping seeing live at waters club san Pedro 1987. And Vinnie moore in 93? I've seen yngwie more than once long ago during eighties. Uli Roth never played my area until 2008 (under dark sky tour?) You must see uli jon Roth live to understand (live recordings on TH-cam don't justify uli Roth's playing. Uli Roth had young guitarist playing everything uli played in dual harmonies. But the music was german complex ugly key changes nonstop shredding over intense key changes. It was powerful. I'll never forget, Everything uli played was orchestrated (Jason Becker masterpiece 'air' orchestrated duel harmonies non stop. Only strategic ugly german key changes that are terrifyingly beautiful. Uli mentioned under dark sky was more german influenced from dark German music. Tectonic thrust, shattering earth catastrophic meteorite bombardment. Aftermath dynamics rise into peace serenity. As soon as I got home from the show I got on TH-cam 'searched (under a dark sky) I listened it' wasn't the same. I seen uli Roth again 6 months later. Uli had a four piece band' with same young back up guitarist playing rhythm parts and dual harmonies on old scorpions songs everything. Burn the sky, Fly to rainbow, in search peace of mind, sun in my hand. Life's like river. And one instrumental (the last guitar instrumental song on IN TRANCE album. Uli Roth is like watching Shawn lane play 'once upon a time in the west'. Screaming beautiful melody's. Piercing the ears as ringing of the nose produces blood

@@dannyhood8857 I saw all the guitar players that you mentioned minus Pat Metheny and Michael Batio Angelo, i mentioned that i saw Uli Jon Roth live on my original comment, i saw Vinnie Moore live with his last band Ufo and i also met Vinnie in the flesh a few hours after the show, i also saw Yngwie Malmsteen, i saw like 525 live shows in real life but i guess that i can't see them all, some guitar players are already dead and some never came to my country, i wish you well!

@@ruiplas he could have if he didn’t die. What I mean is not that Uli is not a good player. In fact I think he is the greatest guitarist alive today. Only thing I am saying is that his techniques are not original but heavily influenced by Hendrix. I don’t think he would be the kind of player he is without having seen and influenced by Hendrix. He is probably even better than Hendrix. Only thing is that he got his guitar playing ideas from Hendrix. He even admits it. If he came up with his style without having seen Hendrix; then he would have been even more famous than Hendrix.

This is why you get compared to Hendrix. Too much whammy noise. It's not good for your career. Killed Frank Marino too. Even though they are both better players, once you do down the feedback road, you will lose in comparison. This is why I always admired Schenker. He never bothers with any of this shit. He plays a six string, no effects, no whammy, just actual playing. Uli can play that way too, but still likes to pretend he's Hendrix sometimes, which is unfortunate.

Absolutely agree, Uli is amazing but unfortunately I've never seen him as a 100% original, he's always lived all of his life (musically and personally) under that overwhelming Hendrix shadow and either in Scorpions or solo career everytime he started playing I hear Hendrix first, later him.. On the other hand Michael Schenker is outrageously outstanding, he found his own unmistakable tone and style early in his teens and grew up with it throughout the decades. No over the top whammy bar shit or nonsense fretboard masturbstions, no tons of effects required , just his guitar, a cry baby, a 50 amps and the magic at his fingertips, godlike tone, vibrato and a completely unorthodox chosen of notes for his solos.. He's truly one of a kind..
