Sin is a dangerous beast that is working its evil on a daily basis, and only by seeking Christ can we be safe. By seeking to understand the Bible and striving to be like Christ in character, we can be changed for the better. Sanctification through the working of the Holy Spirit is necessary for breaking the power of sin.
This episode reminds us to look at Jesus’ example, and as we behold Him, we are changed. As Ephesians 4:15 says, “Speak the truth in love and grow to become more like Christ.” Every day, we must remember where our strength lies and seek to be closer to the One who is our salvation.

An important point is that Jesus, at the cross, defeated evil forces. When the disciples who returned, Luke 10:17, they testified, "Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name." Jesus gave us the victory at the cross . We have the authority to overcome the power of the enemy.

It is in the Bible that we learn how growing in Christ is possible. Sanctification is the process through which we come to know God and His character. Jeremiah 29:13; "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." ,And Jesus reaffirms this teaching when He says; "Abide in Me, and I in you. Without Me you can do nothing." John 15:4,5. We are therefore just as dependent upon Christ, to live a holy life, as is the branch upon the vine for growth and fruitfulness. Apart from Him we have no life. We have no power even to resist sin or to grow in grace. Our joy, our usefulness all depend upon our union with Him.
