  • christiansermo... Growing in Christ - CD Brooks sermons. In this sermon, CD Brooks preaches on how we can grow in Christ once we accept him as our personal savior.
By His death on the cross, Jesus triumphed over the forces of evil. He who subjugated the demonic spirits during His earthly ministry has broken their power and made certain their ultimate doom. Jesus' victory gives us victory over the evil forces that still seek to control us, as we walk with Him in peace, joy, and assurance of His love. Now the Holy Spirit dwells within us and empowers us. Continually committed to Jesus as our Saviour and Lord, we are set free from the burden of our past deeds. No longer do we live in the darkness, fear of evil powers, ignorance, and meaninglessness of our former way of life. In this new freedom in Jesus, we are called to grow into the likeness of His character, communing with Him daily in prayer, feeding on His Word, meditating on it and on His providence, singing His praises, gathering together for worship, and participating in the mission of the Church. As we give ourselves in loving service to those around us and in witnessing to His salvation, His constant presence with us through the Spirit transforms every moment and every task into a spiritual experience.

One of the most astouding things Jesus said is found in John 5:19, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise". KJV
Everything Jesus said and did was inspired by the Spirit's power working through Him. This is plainly pointed out inJohn 12,
"49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. 50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak." KJV He could only do as the Father worked in Him. He did not come to earth to show Himself, He came to show His Father.
Likewise, we are all to be blessed in the fact that we are servants of God and all that He expects us to do is to let Him do His work in the transformation process so others may know Him. We don't pray because it's a good practice (though it is, like Daniel). We pray because god draws us to this. We don't witness to others because we believe it's the right thing to do. We witness to others because God draws us to do so. See Acts 8:26-29.
Following Christ means we can do nothing of righteousness unless it is the righteousness of God working through us, impressing us and transforming us into the likeness of Christ. Nothing we do is considered righteous unless it is God Himself working through our spirit capacity to contain Him. Jesus came to give us back the life that Adam lost through sin. Sin, in its most simplest meaning refers to a life without God. If our definition of sin deals only with sinful acts, we are doomed to make the same mistakes over and over again. Sin, then, is not only about what we do wrong, it's about God not having control of the life.
The real blessing in living a righteous life is, like Christ, being led by the Spirit of God apart from all the praying, reading good books and going to church on Sabbath. Nothing like that is saving. Only Christ is saving. And if we want to understand the gospel correctly, only His righteous acts through us will be honored by the Father otherwise "all of our righteousness are like filthy rags." It is too easy to fall back on looking at our behavior to feel good about ourselves for doing the right things. That is treason before God!

Obedience is the way that man naturally tries to obtain righteousness. We ask ourselves how to be righteous and we immediately think that we should stick to a bunch of rules. It's human nature. However this is not the essence of the message of christianity and if we try to obtain righteousness in this way we will always fail.
Please see. Galatians 2:16 yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
No one will ever achieve righteousness by trying to keep the law or by obedience. The alternative is faith and they are mutually exclusive we can obtain righteousness by one or the other.
Galatians 3:11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”
Just to reiterate no one can keep the full law and obtain righteousness in that way. We must obtain righteousness by faith in Jesus Christ.
Romans 7:2-6 For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage. Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an adulteress.
Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.
Here Paul is using the analogy of a christian marriage and he is saying that a woman can not divorce her husband and remarry while he is alive or that is adultery. In the same way while we are married to the flesh we can not remarry. You can imagine the law as the marriage contract while the husband is alive the wife can not remarry she is under the marriage contract. Just as we are under the marriage contract while we are married to the flesh we are under the law meaning we are under a natural obligation to obtain righteousness through obedience. When we try to keep the law that means we are married to our fleshly nature which is a rebel.
It doesn’t matter how hard you try to keep the law (obtain righteousness through salvation) you cant succeed because the rebel in you will always be fighting to do the wrong thing. In fact the bible says that no one ever has succeeded in this or ever will except for Jesus Christ. So as long as the flesh remains alive we are not allowed to marry another man. We are still under the matting contract which means we must try to obtain righteousness through our own obedience.
However praise to God the Good news of the Gospel is that when Jesus died on the cross our fleshly nature was put to death with him. And in this analogy Paul is saying that we can now belong to another. We can remarry “Christ who was raised from the dead”. Through the holy spirit we are reunited to the resurrected christ. We are married to Jesus and since we are no longer Married to flesh we are not under the law (the need to obtain righteousness through obedience). Every time we try to obtain righteousness by our own obedience we are married to our flesh again and we will always fail. But under Christ we are delivered we are delivered from keeping the law as means of righteousness our fleshly nature is put to death
Paul says the offspring of this marriage is good fruit. But the offspring of the marriage to the flesh are the works of the flesh.
Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
If your married to a bad man you will have bed children so if you try to obtain righteousness through obedience you will fall into the flesh because no man can do it. This will produce the works of the flesh. We are free from that union now through Christ because when he died out flesh died with him.
So in the essence of the christian message is that it docent matter what we try to do it is who we are united with that determines the way we live. We must have a personal relationship with Jesus christ. If you would like more detailed information and a full teaching about this please see my youtube channel. How to follow the spirit and grow as a christian - Jamie Middleton. God bless you.

Satan will always tell us we are not able and we should not have to fully obey. But time and time again, in the Bible we see God valuing obedience. Simplified in 1 Samuel 15:22 (UKJV): And Samuel said, Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, *to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.* His laws, His 10 commandments existed even before Mount Sinai, it is not to restrain us from anything good, it is for our own good.

      @hgpsale7605 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Peter said "we ought to OBEY God rather than man".....
Speaking of justify. Which of these 4 is accepted by God.
      1. Titus 3:7 - justify by grace
      2. Romans 5:9 - justify by his blood
      3. Rom 5: 1 - justify by faith
      4. James 2: 24 - justify by works
      Deutronomy 5: 33 - Obedience
