When only one computer has slow internet

- All my other devices had fast internet by for some reason my PC was download much slower than others.
On your network connections, go to properties, the advanced tab and change the wireless mode. I watched other videos but none I saw recommended this. I actually don't know how I ended trying this but it worked.
If this doesn't work, some of the solutions other people did that made it work.

I switched between Dual band 802.11a/b/g and 802.11a/b. While switching fixed the problem, it wasn't permanent and the speed dropped after 2 minutes or so. I finally ended up restarting my modem and calling my Internet provider which resolved the problem. Oddly my phones weren't affected and it was only my PC and my laptop.

What did it for me was going into the adapter settings and putting the tick for IPv6 and then magically i went from 15mbps to 800mbps.
Years and Years of being on wireless internet 2 gaming PC later and this is the only thing that has shown actual results a whole 6 years of just dealing with slow internet I will test it on some games and see if it actually fixed but so far looking good thank you so much

Holy shit, this literally quadrupled my internet connection, i was getting over 1k ping on games and now its back to the normal sub 20. This is an insane trick, sending this video to all my friends. Thank you my man.

DUDE!!! thanks alot man, I was watching all of those pointless videos that ramble on about random crap, I built a new pc and was worried my investment was not good with slow internet speeds of 50 mbps and now I am at my normal speed at 310+ mbps, I was getting so damn frustrated and pissed....until I watched this, thank you so much!
50 is slow........ what country are you in, that is above average in australia and most people struggle to even hit 100mbps, that is like top tier.

My God it worked!! After about a year I'm finally able to watch TH-cam videos without terrible lagging. And load sites faster. My connection still isn't perfect (because we have LIMITED ;( WiFi in our house, which should change soon, we're still waiting), but for now you totally saved me and my nerves :) Thank you so much!

Bro this is insane, after i changed my router i literally had 500kbs connection could barely load 480p youtube and this fixed that in like 2 clicks youre a god. I was even considering buying new router lol

I need to do use some different setting as having Windows 11 Lenovo laptop. putting steps for others.
control panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Centre -> Change adaptor settings
right click "WiFi" for properties -> select "Client for Microsoft Networks" & then click "Configure" if any warning pops-up click yes
Now on "Advanced" tab select property "802.11a/b/g Wireless Mode" and change it's value (on right side list item) select option 1 "1. 5GHz 802.11a" and press OK
old value was set to "6. Dual Band 802.11a/b/g"

okay i have an issue with my Wi-Fi so every time I like load up a game or a TH-cam video my Wi-Fi strength would drop 2 or 3 bars then just completely cuts off the Wi-Fi saying low signal strength and repeats this process when I'm just surfing the web is there an issue with my Wi-Fi adaptor in my pc or just very bad signal strength.
Been trying to fix my Steam download speeds for years and messing around with the settings in that window is to first thing to have worked! Thanks! 😁
omg, tysm, all these other tutorials did not work, and finally, after this tutorial, my download speed went back to 90 mb/s instead of 10 mb/s tysmmmm

Holy cow this literally changes everything, my speeds kept dropping every 10 minutes which was odd and it was super slow, but not on any other laptops or computers. I am so lucky that this video was the first one I clicked on because I literally could've wasted hours and this was a very quick fix.

Superb thanks! I recently discovered my pc was getting less than a ¼ of the speed. I was about to a clean install and seen this. Cancelled the clean boot and changed this setting and boom. Full speed. This is on windows 11 in 2024 so still works 👌👍
Does this fix ping spikes because I have been having massive ping spikes on only one device for the past 3 months and I have not been able to identify what the issue is

Fixed my issue. I was getting 20 mbps on my pc while everything in the house is super fast. Now I'm over 200 mbps on the PC after changing this setting. Thank you for this

I got an internet booster and ever since I’ve been having so many problems with internet on my pc for example I’ll connected fine for like 20 seconds then experience a drop out for like 15 seconds it’s really annoying, have you got a clue of the cause? I have a very high-speed net at home 900mb and my son's pc speed is around 700 and my other son's pc 600 and mine reached max 150 while I'm closer to the router! your clicks made me happy finally as I get around 450mb which is really good. Thank you again and advise all to try it. The only difference I made is I chose 5GHz 802.11a

UNDER-RATED VIDEO!!!!!!!!! I just got fiber with Frontier and less than 24 hours the downloads were slow asf. Ran speed tests to modem, then to my computers and that was all fine, but the issue was still happening. Checked for apps or any programs running in the background and nothing. TH-cam was buffering to load videos at 240p....this one change FINALLY, I'm streaming 1080p HD and no buffering. Now I'm going to go check and see if my games will play without lagging out... THANK YOU SO MUCH....someone at Frontier was about to have a bad day.

I switched the stuff and now the wifi adapter option won’t even turn back on. I tried switching the options back to what they were and even then it won’t go back to normal. I can’t connect to any wifi now

I have one of those antenna things on my pc, and it's pointed to the room with the router, I get internet just very little. I tried this trick, and it kinda helped. If you have a fix for this, can you pls make a video on it.

this didnt work for me for some reason. it only said an option that said a/b/g, no a/n/ac setting for me and my internet is staying the same. is there a way to make the a/n/ac setting to show up?
Hmm. Is your router a newer router? It could be the router is older and doesn't have that feature.

Basically, you're changing the which Wi-Fi channel you computer is using so it will have less interference with other devices and a cleaner signal.

I don’t see wireless mode but instead of changing anything in the property tab I changed the value tab to 5ghz 802.11a and it made my speed go from 1.2mbps to 9MB/s 😅 Got me to the right place, thank you

i dont have that option sadly. it's pissing me off since the wifi in my phone is fine and in the laptop it's not and if my laptop buffers, my phone buffers too and when I close the tab on my laptop then my phone loads whatever it is loading
