Your video was so inspirational for me. I am new to miniatures. My daughter rescued a Farmhouse dollhouse with its furniture and accessories, off the curb back in October. I had previously attempted working on another dollhouse rescue, but stopped. The Farmhouse has been an entirely different experience for me. I am really enjoying seeing the improvements made and learning new skills at the same time. I have learned a lot from wonderful TH-cam creators like yourself. Thank you! ☺️

Wow! this was such a pleasant video, and your voice is just perfect for narrating them, so soothing! I'm 64, but I got into miniatures as a boy a long time ago around age 6 when my adoptive mother took me to visit "cousin Murial" where my "grandmother" was living on the top floor of this huge estate house working as Murials' personal secretary. Murial had several servants- a cook, maid, gardener, driver that I knew of, maybe others I didn't! but I stayed overnight with "grandma" and I remember the big open wood staircase going down to the kitchen and library, the library was a real formal library with books to the ceiling on shelves and a rolling ladder to access them, but on two large tables there were two large miniature rooms with glass fronts. I remember Murial turned the little lights on in one of the rooms and wow!! I don't remember a lot but I DO remember it had furniture I would reference as a living room, with carpets, paintings etc. Murial died about a year later, when I asked about the rooms I was told they went to "a girl in the family" and I never saw or heard of them again. Murial was wealthy, her family was the Eden family who long before her had founded the town of Eden Long Isand, her husband was in the shipping business, she had the money to buy the finest antique miniature furniture or anything else, I don't know if she bought the rooms as they were as antiques or if she furnished them or what, but I remember they were quite large and took up the tables they were on. She was also a bronze figure sculptor, so I saw a room where she had a bunch of small bronze sculptures she made. I was interested in model trains but not all that much, at some point I asked for a dollhouse, I didnt care about "dolls" I wanted the miniature house, and despite how things were in the 60s still with very clearly divided; "boy's toys/girl's toys" and the midset that girls didnt play with "boy's" toys, and boys didn't play with dolls or doll houses- my parents bought one for me! Of course we all know the so called "action figures" marketed to boys are actually, techically- DOLLS, just given a different name as if that really makes a big difference- it's STILL a doll, LOL!! I didn't really do much with miniatures until much later- 2015 when I decided to make a room box around of all things- a staircase I saw and bought, so I made that one and then made a Victorian bathroom followed by a Georgian study I worked on over a couple of years at work and was 99% done, almost ready to take home, which unfortunately was lost in the fire at work that burned all 4 buildings to the ground and left me with burns on one arm needing grafts. After we regouped in temporary space while rebuilding I decided to remake the Georgian room again, I had lot of photos and knew the size of the box by scaling off the wallpaper etc in the photos. I was able to buy the exact same toile wallpaper, chandelier, desk, and much of what was in the room except for a couple of chairs which were no longer available. That room appeared in an issue of the American Miniaturist magazine. After that I decided to build another room, this time inspired by a music room at the Wilteon house museum, I took a few elements from another room in the house and added them, and used a different wood for the flooring and a different fireplace etc., its not a duplicate of the room but very close. The museum staff even provided some photos to me to use and were very supportive and enthusiastic. With that room now finished and home, I'm not sure I'll make more, I just dont have the space, but I DO need to make 3 curtains for the wilton room.
Oh Gretchen I loved this SO MUCH. My jaw was on the ground watching just how far the rooming house has come under your ministrations brining it up to code, and how the community grew and evolved. You are amazing, don't ever forget it! Thank you so much for sharing this journey with us, and I look forward to following along for the future too. And I dont want to forget to thank your Daddy for encouraging you! I bet he is still watching down over you and your creations x
Thank you so much!! it has been quite a journey! I am Amazed myself when I look back at the pictures! I was so nervous and unsure and Now i look forward to every video!! I do think Daddy would be Proud! He is a part of everything i do!!! I'm So glad we met and connected! Thank you for being a Precious Doll and a Dollhouse friend!
I’m looking forward to 2024 and watching you create. I get so amused when you talk about something being “pre-K” or your overuse of glue. Everything always turns out so great. Keep up the good work and happy new year.
I adore and agree completely with everything you said. Such a beautiful story! My grandmother was my inspiration for everything I create. She was multi talented and taught me whatever I was interested in trying. She is no longer here but I feel her presence in everything I try. My mother and grandmother always cheered me on and encouraged me like your father and daughter. Sadly my mother even though still alive can’t cheer me on anymore because of dementia, but I can just imagine her being excited for me in all I do and that’s enough for me. She would had loved watching your channel. Thank you for sharing your story and memories with us!❤❤❤
This is so Beautiful i appreciate sharing this! I am so honored when You DOLLS share your personal stories with me! I helps me know you truly identify with my journey. That is touching that you think you Mom would enjoy my channel! Thank is such a sweet compliment! Thank you for your kind words and for watching!
What I love about miniature life, the damage looks the same as a real house. You can do anything and be more imaginative with smaller scale. It is truly a ARTFORM, to Create and Change and Recreate something from trash. Your story is truly inspiring. ❤
Thank you I appreciate you saying my journey is inspiring! Yes in miniature I fell like there is So much Freedom to Create whatever you want it to be. Regardless of the the damage or how broken it is! I Love Salvaging things....lolololol Like my Daddy! Thank you for watching!!!
🥰 "Fail forward" is a great philosophy! I'm glad you're sharing your journey with us. I've learned so much from watching your videos. The number one lesson has been to RELAX and enjoy creating! When- not if- I make mistakes, it's not the end of the world, or even the project. I can either fix it or try again. Perfectionists like me need to hear this spelled out and repeated often, and you have done that. Not only have I enjoyed your projects, but I have enjoyed making projects of my own thanks to the inspiration and confidence you have given me. Thank you! 😊
Awwww Thank you Laura! i am just giving back what Daddy gave me....Lots of patience understanding and lots of encouragement. I appreciate that yo have stood by me and even cared enough to correct me and remind me to "wear gloves!!" Thank you for riding the wave me! Looking forward to more in 2024!!! lololol!!
That is a pretty spectacular repair and remodel in just a couple of years. You have made so many improvement’s its easy to forget where you started. I have learned more cool stuff when it comes to making miniatures from you then anyone else. You are so talented and imaginative. Your dad must have been very patient and encouraging teacher. Thank you. I really am looking forward to seeing the videos and projects you have coming up this year.
Thank you! Thank you it feels like i just started! it really does not feel like 2 years! I am amazed and so grateful for my growth and improvement; i am so excited about sharing what i have planned! It means alot to me that you are enjoying this and plan to stick around to see what's next! Thanks for sticking around!!!Your presence is appreciated!
Yes it Really makes me see how much I have done! It seemed like such a Big undertaking, but after I got started the DOLLS let me know what I needed to do next!!! LOLOLOLOLOL!!! Thank you For be here DONNA!
It sounds like you have a wonderful father, as did I. I lost my dad to covid a few years ago. There's not a day that goes by that I do not think about him. He was a collector of "what are you gonna do with that" and i definitely inherited that trait from him. This video made me think of him. It made me smile and cry. Thank you for sharing.
I'm so glad to hear you had a wonderful day too! Yes I miss him dearly every day! I feel he's closest to me when I'm creating miniatures! Sometimes it's like I can hear him guiding me telling me to slow down, to take my time or to try again......🥹💖💖💖
I am so honored to have gone with you on the last two years of your wonderful journey! You have inspired me to go small or go home 😂. You have inspired me to push past my obstacles and find a place where there is no right or wrong way and my way is just fine. Thank you for all of your hard work to achieve a beautiful artistic environment for learning and play. You are a OOAK Doll!!!! 💜💜xx
AWWW!!! Thank you so much! What a Sweet Compliment! OOAK DOLL!! YES! Cassandra You have been here through it all! And the fact that you are still here means alot! Thank you for your presence!
Wow! You've done so much work! I'm glad I get to go along in 2024 for all the exciting changes and updates to come. It was so nice seeing all the pictures from when you started til now. You've really accomplished a lot, and I'm so glad you decided to share it all with us!
I'm glad you decided to share your story about your miniature journey. It's inspirational and heart warming. I'm sure your father is watching with a big smile! Happy New Year and may your continued miniature journey bring you creative joy.
Thank you Onna! I truly am starting to understand so many things he taught me and I didn't realize how many things are connected and related to now. I realize now that being here is a part of my destiny journey. Thank you for your support kindness and generosity, you have been a Blessing you me........You cannot be a Blessing and not be Blessed!
I love hearing you talk about your Dad, he was a lovely man and obviously recognised the artist in his little girl, we have your Dad to thank for the wonderful miniaturist you are today. We all love you and see what your Daddy saw in you. I hope you and your loved ones have a happy, healthy and productive New Year ,Gretchen ❤ you nearly had me in tears listening to this. We all love you x
Thank you Anne! i am so grateful for Daddy! He saw in me what i didn't see in myself. I would ask him to buy me things and he would simply say," YOU CAN MAKE THAT"! I would be so frustrated! So many Lovely things on the shiny pages of the catalogs..... they seemed so far and out of my reach. Now i understand....Thank you for being here Anne.
I loved hearing you talk about your dad. Like my dad, he was encouraging! I love your story and your channel. Thank YOU for sharing your talent with us. ❤
I just love that your daddy and daughter encouraged you! I'm so glad they did! And, thank you for being and encouragement AND an inspiration to all of us! Happy New Year to you! 🎉

Hello Gretchen, Happy New Year 🎊 I loved today's video, hearing your dolls house journey from your first house to where you are today, I feel privileged to have watched for most the past two years and have seen you grow into a fantastic miniaturist, your attention to detail is second to none, your dolls are wonderful each with their own unique expressions and characters its a joy to watch their stories, your Daddy would be extremely proud of you and I'm sure is still gently guiding you along the way, never change, we all love you just the way you are, including your excessive glue addiction 😂 you are a fantastic teacher with amazing talent, but also humble, you share your mistakes and your successes equally. Keep up the good work. Best wishes from Yorkshire, England 🇬🇧 😊
Thank you Diane! This time has gone so fast! I do believe Daddy would would be proud of what I'm doing! Looking forward to what's next! Thank you for being here!
Learning so much from you, but mostly how to play. Love your dolls & their lives become real when you tell their stories. Happy New Year & Anniversary. Your Dad is proud.
Thank you so much Wendy! Happy new Year to you too! I'm so glad you don't mind when I play, it really helps me to know what to do next! The Dolls are so much a part of what i create, because i create based on what they need or want! I feel so Blessed to have made it through to 2 years the time went so fast! I do Believe DADDY would be Proud! I appreciate you for being here!
Wait, Gretchen! There's a "dollhouse code." Nobody every told me about that before. Now I am going to have inspectors crawling all over my houses seeing if they are "up to code." Oh, the fines and the work. Maybe I can just fly beneath the radar. (Tee hee.) Loved hearing your whole story. I feel like I just love your dad. Poor mom. It's too bad she just could not quite see it. I had a mom who completely got the whole miniature thing and introduced me to them as your dad did you. Happy New Year and I so look forward to the ongoing story of the Rooming House (in which I live, in case you don't know it. I am hiding in one of the closets.)
Happy New Year Mary Kay!! Yes there is apparently a dollhouse code somewhere, especially since there is an Offficial "Dollhouse Builders Scale Ruler). I am Clearly breaking codes daily left and right with each video but I understand that some of My DOLLS are paying off the enforcers because they enjoy My Content!! LOLOOLOL!!!
Happy New Year! Happy Anniversary! Thank you for sharing all of this tiny wonderfulness with us. You're a blessing. All the best to you and yours in this coming year!
Happy New Year Rachael Thank you for being here! I am So grateful to be able to Share and grateful to be a Blessing!!! Looking forward to All the Wonderful in store 2024!!!
Wonderful to see the story! As someone who found you more recently its good to see how it all started. I'm starting a large project like this and it's very overwhelming. Your my favourite to watch, you have a lovely warm aura and not ashamed to show the fails we all make ans that can hold us back. Love from the UK x
Welcome aboard Katie! I'm so glad to have you here! Thank you for your Kind words! I try to be honest and not pretend that I don't make mistakes. i believe too often people are fearful of mistakes and it hinders them from growing . Mistakes , errors and Fails are ALL a part of learning. The most magnificent ARTISTS Failed over and over but ALL We get to see Is the MASTERPIECE. I want You to SEE MY PROCESS, so you will know you are on the Right Track! Yes, Large projects can seem overwhelming but just focus on one room at a time. if you happen to get something for another room while you are working , just set it aside and save it . Collect other items in marked boxes as you go along. Little by little you will see things coming together! I'm excited for you! Keep me posted on your progress!! Thank you for watching!!

Happy new year and Thank you! i appreciate you for being here and allowing me to share!
This is wonderful and I am so happy that you decided to share your vision and talent. Thank you.
Looking forward to more in 2024!!! lololol!!
@@littlegretchensworkshop7665 "Riding the wave" with you is always a pleasure! ☺
💜💜xx

Hello Gretchen, Happy New Year 🎊
I loved today's video, hearing your dolls house journey from your first house to where you are today, I feel privileged to have watched for most the past two years and have seen you grow into a fantastic miniaturist, your attention to detail is second to none, your dolls are wonderful each with their own unique expressions and characters its a joy to watch their stories, your Daddy would be extremely proud of you and I'm sure is still gently guiding you along the way, never change, we all love you just the way you are, including your excessive glue addiction 😂 you are a fantastic teacher with amazing talent, but also humble, you share your mistakes and your successes equally.
LOLOOLOL!!!
Oh, we're OK then. I live in Chicago and right near Cicero, IL so we KNOW about paying off inspectors round these parts.@@littlegretchensworkshop7665
I love your channel and your life ethic, thank you for sharing your journey with us. May this new year bring you peace and happiness ❤
